Liadri and rage
I play with warrior. If you killed her that doesn’t mean all players will be. We are very casual, not hardcore. And she needs nerf.
It’s not a casual achivement, deal with it. If you can’t do it – don’t do it.
Learn to play issue.
You will eventually get there.
She was already heavily nerfed for this year. What was a challenge is now more of a slight learning curve.
If you have having trouble I would suggest dodge food. It gives you might on dodge and a 40% endurance regen. It is a huge help for getting out of the way. orrian something or other.

I don’t think so much that she was ‘nerfed’, more that the 2 main annoying parts of it were dealt with this time around – the roof taken off the domes and the clearly visible AoE circles.
I’m happy to have done it last year, feels like hard mode!

Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew. Prices of this went up so high last year just from this fight!
As someone who has yet to kill her, no, just no. Keep her as is. It’s not like the rest of the game is brimming with difficult content. Why should this be dumbed down so that you can complete it? For an achievement? Where’s the achievement in that? Learn how to kill her. It’s really that simple.
i’d just like her timer to be increased, as it’s largely a dps race.
I also find it annoying having to grind tickets just so I get to keep practising ……I’d much rather no tickets.

It isn’t a DPS race in the slightest.
With the basic 3 orb kill, the announcer shouldn’t even speak. Unless you’re playing GW2 in super useless Full PVT gear.
In the 8 orb kill, it still isn’t about DPS, it’s about dragging the visions into light vortexes with 100% efficiency, and picking up the orbs with 100% efficiency. You get her to 5-10% HP early in the fight by dropping the occasional damage/condition skill, then after 8 orbs, finish her off.
The timer plays a HUGE role in the 8 orb achievement. In 3 orbs? Nah not even remotely.
If you’re playing full PVT bunker, supplement some of the pieces (trinkets) to something that is more DPS focused. Full PVT should only be used at teq/wurm, no where else.
PvP modes are the “endgame” in every MMO.
Stop failing at PvE, start fixing PvP/WvW. Thank you.
You play warrior? Good, me too.
Beat her on my fourth try and the whole affair took me like 10 minutes.
It’s doable. If you can’t do it then you are not good enough. End of story.
Learn to play or deal with the fact that you can’t have everything.
Oh i got this warm and fuzzy feeling again <3
If this isn’t really a troll thread, I have this to say: You have a month to get this achievement. Just because you failed now doesn’t mean you won’t get it. Also, this is not temporary content; it’s recurring. The gauntlet will come back, so if you decide to give up now, you can try again next time.
As a side note, just because you paid for the game and supported the developers with the gem shop, this does not entitle you to everything the game has to offer. It’s still a game, and therefore it has rules which you are not allowed to circumvent by just paying money; that would be pay-to-win. For example: Just because I bought Guild Wars 2, it would be ridiculous of me to expect that I should have the dragon finisher (rank 80) in sPvP. Buying Guild Wars 2 gives you the ability to earn it; it doesn’t entitle you to it by default.

I was trying since living story get released. I pay 70 euro per month in hope game developers will be able to keep doing good job, BUT I simply have to get that title at least. I don’t have patience man.. I have to go to job and keep my business going… I can’t play gw2 24/7 and I am really tired from ONE boss. What should I do now, farm 12/7 and try to beat her for whole month like crazy? No thanks, that is so stupid.
Then don’t?
Then don’t?
I wont try anymore. But I still want my title and miniature. I dont see solution for my problem. Also, I am not the only one out there who finds Liadri way too powerful. She should be challeging, but not in god mode as is now.
They nerfed her? Good but seems its not even close to what she should be when “nerfed”.
I wont try anymore. .
Good. Problem solved.
You don’t need Zerk gear to beat her.
I used my WvW PTV+Shout Condition remove runes.
And Scepter/Focus.
Liadri is NOT easy. The people who are saying that she’s easy are gloating too much about their abilities. She requires precise play for over a minute without making a single mistake. The ability to do that repeatedly shows high player skill, not ease of encounter.
However, she DOES NOT NEED TO BE NERFED. Anet made it clear that Queen’s Gauntlet was designed to be challenging, frustrating, and rage-inducing. It was designed specifically so not everybody could beat her. They also said that certain encounters were easier on certain classes and builds. So try different weapons, try a different build, or try a different class. I wasn’t able to beat her last year. I gave up because I couldn’t handle the rage anymore. This year I decided to give it a try again, I have much more skill than I did last year, and it still was unforgiving. One mistake and you have to start over.
But that’s what video games used to be like. NES was even MORE unforgiving. If you died too many times you had to play the whole game over. It’s this new generation of games that holds your hand held and cradles your balls the entire time you’re playing that encourages the attitude that anything that can’t IMMEDIATELY be beaten should be nerfed.
kittenmit us hardcore players barely have anything in this game specifically designed for us, everything is being infected by the casual bug. Don’t take this away from us too.
Then don’t?
She should be challeging, but not in god mode as is now.
But who are bunch of people who killed it? Gods? Or may be players who just use brains without pincers?
And what is challenge? Other bosses? No, I killed all of them in 30 min without problems(only few wipes at 1-shot sniper).
I think in this game people too lazy and become blunt. Stop thinking you are the center of universe and all content can be finished with pressing 2 buttons. Some achievements must be unattainable if you have no experience for it yet. This is challenge, not another 1000th word boss farmed.
My zerker professions are Warrior, Mesmer, Ranger; Thief and Necro have zerker/knight mixed gear. Which one is easier to kill her?
…..or you can easily beat her in phase 1..IF you have learned the rotation of nightfall and got the “right” build and class for that!
Lol..no need to nerf. I can kill Liadri 1/3 times now. I almost never fail to get past phase 1 unless I make a really stupid mistake and getting through phase 2 is as easy as kiting Liadri and moving around the slow zombie clones.
I find it stupid that some people have to exploit/cheat using the Lifesteal bug to try and kill her in Phase 1. It gives me great pleasure to watch these clowns get flushed down to the floor level when the timer runs out.

I haven’t beat Lidari yet, if she were to get nerfed I would be disappointed.
I defeated her on my thief using life stealing venom build (with Vampiric Runes, life steal Sigil). If i had full berserker armor (i had only 3 ascended and 2 rare trinkets), i wouldnt need to get her to phase 2 at all. with my build i got her to 25% then shifted her to phase 2 and bursted her. My weapons were 2 Mystic Pistols (berserker)
I think there should be a rule where if you don’t beat her within 100 tries, you’re blocked from attempting further. That would be incentive to learn the mechanics.
Woah, the elitism is strong in this post!
But, well, seems that anet did this content for the leet players.
We the filthy peasants don’t deserve it.
Sorry for being bad player!!
(But I want the mini… I like minis…)

Because that exploit was being used en masse, I think Anet will be banning or at least suspending a lot of players.

ummm.
thats harsh..and insulting.
I read about liadri before attempting her. Tried her several times and went to read somemore. talked to people who beat.
I know the mechanics. at 70 tries I myself have had enough..but to limit people and assume they dont know the mechanics? Some people arent able for this content.
I doubt many people who beat her have disabilities … (that would affect game play). though I dont expect anet to nerf this just because of my struggles. I simply have to accept I cant do what others can.
Though I’m seriously annoyed with people saying they beat her “in only a few tries” and “getting to phase 2 is easy”.
This thread is golden, please continue.

this, give the players who beat her a title, give mini collectors. (who many are very casual) and alternative way to get this. I dislike the empty space.

Harsh and insulting? So you’re ok with people bypassing Liadri’s mechanics to get a cheap win using the Life Steal trick? That is the very essence of the term “exploit”.
I was never good at her fight. When the Queen’s Jubilee first came out, I failed to kill her. Then, after 60+ tries a few days ago, I finally killed her. I finally learned to play. Took me a while, but I did it with a legit build, playing within her mechanics. I finally learned the timing to dodge the mass AOE. I finally learned the timing to dodge her shadow clone explosions. And I finally got my mini.
If Anet think of this as an exploit, why didnt they fix it since this happened in the initial Gauntlet.
After all, we used nothing more than the game provides us.

I am getting to phase 2 easily at this point. It’s repetative for the most part, the rift being the only real hang up as it doesn’t seem to be consistant like the rest of the mechanics.
The second phase is tough though, I haven’t quite downed it yet. But I’m getting to phase 2 very fast. Just gonna quote what i wrote in another thread, but htis is how I do it. I always make sure to use the same platform as each one seems slightly different. But here it is:
JerusTo get to phase2 is just a matter of repetition really. The orbs do seem to be randomly placed which can be a major pain.
I use the east-southeast platform. The first white portal will spawn directly behind her. I’ll start off by destroying the first rift, then charge behind her, her first blast will be directed right where I started the fight so I’ll already be out of that. Then the second blast will be right on top of the white portal. if you run to the portal and turn around to face liadri your first vision will spawn to the right, i usually step out of the blast a little in that direction staying lined up between the portal and the first vision. From her her next blast will be right where I’m standing, so I back up across the portal and wait, the first vision will drop in there giving me the first orb which i can pick up after the blast goes off.
I’ll go pick that up, and the next portal is over by the wall, i’ll rush there, then time a dodge to evade the blast (blasts being shadowfall if you didn’t pick that up). this keeps me lined up with the vision and portal to minimize wasted movement of the visions.
Right about the time this vision goes into that portal you’ll have another vision spawn to the left and another to the right. I ignore the right one as the next white portal spawns to the left right by where the one spawned. now, i’m a guard so I use my line of warding on that left vision as it keeps him lined up and in place (if i do it right he’s actually right on top of the portal as it spawns). So i’ll pick up the orb I just made, then circle around towards that next white portal and throw my orb. The blast is going to be right on that white portal though so you can’t go all the way to it. But if you move right you should be able to get teh vision in it quickly for your 3rd orb and activating phase 2.
Note though, about the time the second vision becomes an orb, before the third portal activates you’ll usually have an orb spawn. Sometimes it’s right where that second vision went into the portal, so delaying a second before picking up the crystal to destroy the orb quickly may be advisable, that’s the only thing that can screw me up at this point.
I feel I’m getting it as fast as humanly possible every time…that second phase though…my god. Wish I could give tips on that part but can’t say I’ve mastered it yet.
GL though, I do think the first phase isn’t too tough to get down if you approach it with more of a set precision than simply reacting and playing well. If you just follow the patterns do it the same each time, eventually it’s perfected… then it’s about phase 2… /cringe.
If Anet think of this as an exploit, why didnt they fix it since this happened in the initial Gauntlet.

That’s the same excuse people who abused the Karma→Gold exploit made during the first week of GW2. Guess what? They all got banned.
The mechanics are obviously not intended and you can convince yourself all you want that it was a legitimate move to use this “trick” (exploit) but at the end of the day, you still cheated. The point is to challenge yourself when playing a game and to get better at it. Because you can’t accept that you keep failing and making mistakes, you opted for alternative cheap exploit route.
I think there should be a rule where if you don’t beat her within 100 tries, you’re blocked from attempting further. That would be incentive to learn the mechanics.

Ah, you have my apologies. I had left off the reasons why I wanted that block in, which was related to people resorting to using exploits if they couldn’t learn the fight.
For those of you saying it’s easy, do it as a thief. You’ll have your challenge then.
PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald

Anet almost shout to criers at forum: “Don’t cry! We let you to receive mini, just use lifesteal bug if you can not win in normal way !”

Except not really, it was pretty easy to not only kill her but do 8 orbs on Thief. Although I guess if you don’t know how to play Thief it might be hard.
Anyway as to the whole point of this thread, challenging content is not meant to be completed by everyone.

Use a necro or guard… ez mode
I must be doing it wrong. Please tell me how I’m supposed to do it with my guard.

Actually, I was only able to pull it off using my Thief. Dual pistol condi plus a lot of backward dodge roll skills and dodge food. I think I was able to pull up to 5 dodges in emergencies.

you don’t even need that many. even if someone fails to realise the extremely simple a-b-a-b pattern of shadowfall and stands in it constantly, that person could just dodge the oneshot with a single timed dodge or evade ability

No I guess I don’t? Do you mean where I said that it was easy for me but then talked about how it was challenging content? I mean yeah its easy for me and a lot of other people but if it wasn’t challenging content there wouldn’t be QQ threads everywhere.
Liadri is not easy. If you beat her once every 5 times (or more) that does not mean at all that the fight is easy.
However, it’s definitely not impossible. Any profession can beat her. And all except rangers can get 8 orbs achievement. That is because pet dies and it’s like 50% nerf on ranger.
I did liadri normal way first on berserker ranger and 8 orbs on guardian, but I am confident that I could get 8 orbs on thief as well very easily.
Fun fact: I did 8 orbs on my ranger.
Haha, honestly I don’t believe that at all, I tried pretty much all potential builds which could maintain a constant DPS high eneugh for killing liadri, from full zerg to tanky cond, all my kills were near the deadline. No ranger would be able to do the DPS and the 8 crystals within the given 2:50

By the way, if anyone wants the ultimate challenge, try this, as far as my concerns go this would be impossible for the ranger.
All I want is being able to fight her in a private instance in a map like the Nightmare Chambers.
I’d like to TRY and fight her, but despite my system being well over minimum requirements and having set both the game’s and videocard’s settings to the lowest, and while I have over 60FPS while right outside the arena, as soon as I enter the FPS goes back to close to nothing.
It doesn’t help how inconsistent the visions are. They don’t have something like an animation they do to hit like illusions, and the distance at which they will kill you is variable. Sometimes they hit me under melee range, sometimes over 600 units.
And to top it all, the fence around the area makes the camera face the floor and jump around every time I get slightly close to the border of the arena.
I don’t need people looking at me while I do it, I just want to ATTEMPT it while having at least an ice elemental’s chance in the Fissure of Woe to do it.
This needs a private instance in a low-res arena without lots of geometry all over the place, some fancy FPS-eating floor and camera-boggling borders.

If your PC isn’t able to maintain acceptable fps, you might consider buying a new one. This wont help you now but GW2 is already extremely low-end optimised.
On a side not: try it again late in the night: less players → less to load.
I feel like I have to throw my 2 copper in this thread.
I am a casual player, and I had serious problem with Liadri yesterday as well. More than 100 face-scrubbing attempts failed, and nearly rage quit.
I have changed my traits and weapons based on guides I read, going for guardian and necromancer like other players have suggested. All the efforts bares no fruit. I decided to stay away from the builds that I am unfamiliar with, and went for my high-mobility bomb engineer. I stayed alive, but my dps wasn’t fast to beat her in time. I noticed my weakness and changed some trait around, then I finally beat her.
I promise you this. Once you did it, the sense of accomplishment will be unforgettable.
TL;DR, let me give you a few tips as a fellow casual player:
1. Find out your weakness.
– Time running out? Get to phase 2 as fast as possible. Or DPS problem. Cleanse the weakness condition as well.
– Die from her normal attacks? Toughness and vitality problem.
– Getting crippled? Take out all your condition-cleansing.
– Getting pulled from that rift? Environment awareness and stability.
2. Find out her attack pattern.
– Circle-strafing in the small circle to minimize travel distance.
– Other than the rift locations, the attacks are never random.
– Dodge roll in the shadowfall (or even the visions) if you have to. Count the timing.
– Rift can be used for rally.
3. Don’t be afraid to change you builds and traits, especially it’s free to change traits all-time and everywhere now. Experiment to improve your weakness. Getting out of the comfort zone is mandatory for learning.
4. Don’t forget your food. Preferably endurance-related nourishment.
5. Good luck. Yes, it’s somewhat required.
Again, good luck, and hopefully you can overcome the challenge.
Liadri isn’t hard by any means. You can die rly quickly to her, in fact, I died a lot too. But none the less, once you’re in the second stage, you only have to survive. Liadri nearly dies to a breeze.
I don’t think so much that she was ‘nerfed’, more that the 2 main annoying parts of it were dealt with this time around – the roof taken off the domes and the clearly visible AoE circles.
One thing that was noticeably changed is the shadowfall pattern. In the last gauntlet, one side of the hourglass had a much larger safe zone side than the other. Naturally you would wan’t to stick to the larger safe zone. This time around, they seem to have made the pattern symmetrical. I don’t know if that made it easier or harder though.
