I read dulfy’s post that listed some stuff she heard/saw from the stream and one of the points were

Meta achievement for Living World release will reward a horde of Ascended materials (bloodstone brick, dragonite ingot, empyreal star).

Wow, meta achievement is just a bunch of ascended materials…this can’t be true can it? bloods come in plenty from champ boxes, dragonite from wvw and world bosses, emp from dungeons. Not especially difficult to get but…for people who simply can’t be bothered with the ascended gear grind, the meta reward is totally useless.

I hope something else turns up on when it is released… :/

Hey, it’s still free mats without having to spend time/money refining them. And you never know if there’ll be additional uses for them in future. Even if you have no plans to get Ascended gear, just stick them in your collectibles and forget about them.

I play enough of the other activities like WvW, world bosses, dungeons and continuously get ascended mats. Worse part is that they can’t even be vendored.

Keep in mind that those things Dulfy listed, which were mentioned in the livestream, are the refined versions. I believe those are tradeable. And thus you get the valuable item without sinking obsidian shards or whatever into it.

Still, I hope there’s something else one can get besides mats. I know I’m never going to make an Ascended item, I just don’t have the mat-gathering-grind in me, but that doesn’t mean I want to give up any of the mats I -do- get. Just in case. So I’d like something fun on top of the vaguely one day useful things.

I stand corrected. I could swear there was something one could trade out of the various mats heading to Ascended gear, that being the point of getting higher crafting even if you weren’t going to make your own weapon. I guess they either changed it or there’s a further refinement step needed … I’m not even to 460 yet and the costs are too steep to make even one refined mat for me to experiment with all that.

So now I -really- want something more than a brick or two in my meta. A skin, a title. Fun stuff!

Deldrimor Steel Ingots and Spirit Wood Logs, which are created from combining several T2 – T5 materials, ARE tradable. They’re intended to keep prices for lower tier materials high so they don’t become completely obsolete. But they form only part of what’s needed for an Ascended weapon.

We’ll find out the meta achievement rewards in 12 hours or so guys

edit: Can I use my bricks to build a house or a statue of my character in my home instance. I have a lot of them I could probably do it.

Yea, I’m pretty sure most would gladly take a back piece versus mats.

I’ve always liked backpieces and have a horde of Ascended materials in my bank, so yeah. By much.

They could make it so that a backpiece gives you the misty effect fractal weapons have or something.

I’m OK with a mess of ascended materials, especially if they really do intend to release Ascended armor before the end of the year.

But the stuff mention in the livestream are the refined versions (ie. combined bloodstone obby shard whatever else). Though I thought he said it was a choice between the three. Would prefer one of each, but I think it might be only one of them.

I’ll just ignore that reward. I’d just stash any skin and forget about it.

But, if they want to reward some stuff used in crafting or some recipes, why not rewarding a bunch of different fractal currency items? Would fit the whole theme as well. But instead they add some more pointless materials most won’t really care about anyway, because it’s either grind and you already did it or you don’t intend to do (you probably won’t start just due to getting one item for free).

Wow, just got on to check the release and I didn’t think I could be more disappointed. I was thinking it would be a stack of 5 each or something at least. Turns out it’s just 1 of each…awesome reward.
