It really is a huge disapointment to me and my (admittedly very small) guild that the update that was supposed to reinvigorate fractals actually made them worse…

I think the main concern is that if these issues aren’t addressed soon, they never will be. Once the next release is out everyone will be focused on that leaving the fractal bugs / issues / problems to sit and fester…

I’ve found another during the battle versus the Molten Bruiser and Firestorm: if you go near the bridge that led your party to the arena, you will trigger again the long duration “entering” agony. This should not happen.

Whether something is either wrong or right, someone will always complain about it.

Yes I can confirm that all the enchanters stay alive if you wipe on the arm seals. I cannot believe my group today managed to fail to get the last slither of the last seal from the two chanters still alive on the last side! Disaster and group disband as usual.

yeah the further seal get reset but the seal from the jumping area doesn’t. Seem like a half reset sort of deal.

  • In the Molten boss fractal you randomly get hit by the airborne shockwaves even if you didn’t jump on them. I’ve had this happen to me a few times resulting in my death and I am 100% I didn’t jump or dodge into the wave or use a movement skill or anything like that.

  • Another bug with the Molten Facility end boss. If you fall in the pit and land on a pipe, you stay there dead, until the next phase, where the game resses you but doesn’t teleport you back up. If you choose to jump in the lava below, you are downed, but the game drops you in the swirly winds during the Molten Firestorm encounter, thus instantly killing you.

  • Another bug (again…) with the Molten Facility boss. If you die while being knocked back by the berserk and fall down to the lava pit, your corpse will not be tp’ed back up. You will fall through the lava layer down to the ground below and respawn there when the first boss is killed, unable to come back up or even die.

And then there’s several bugs popping up since patch that aren’t related to any 1 specific fractal but to the whole system:

Players with (normally) 55 agony resistance died in a couple of seconds while doing frac40 (agony everywhere). It shouldn’t tick for more than a few hit points and it didn’t for 3 of us, but 2 players saw their AR mysteriously lowered to insufficient amounts even when all their AR gear was equipped and undamaged. So far this happened more than once and both in Uncategorized and Volcanic fractals. The players with this problem could fix their AR by relogging or, sometimes, simply dying and respawning.

Before the patch, as long as the instance owner wouldn’t leave the party everybody could go to LA for repairs and vendoring. Since patch, if the instance owner leaves the fractal, gets disconnected, wants to switch character or whatever, everybody gets kicked losing all progress.

It seems, although I don’t have hard numbers to back this, that loot from daily reward is actually better at lower levels of fractals now. It surely looks like only few people get fractal weapon skins now at levels higher than 30, and more people get them sub 30. My theory is that the dice roll tells the game you get a fractal weapon chest but as these chests aren’t implemented for some obscure reason, you end up with nothing instead.

I’ve seen it reported and discussed, but it hasn’t happened to me.

If you take off a piece of gear that has AR, switch to a piece that doesn’t, then switch back, you will not gain the original AR. The fix is to remove all pieces with AR, and put them all back on again.

I believe this also happens with AR, if you have 55 with say a 2-H ascended weapon, and switch to a 1-H ascended weapon with an exotic offhand, you drop to 50, and when you weapon swap back, you are still at 50.

I haven’t seen the issue Ethics posted before, because I’ve often switched between 45/50 and 55 AR on lvl40 and it worked just fine.

Another issue I’ve found last week was the fact that I got a Fractal Trident.. Except it wasn’t a skin, it was just a weapon.

I tried making a bug thread on the bug forum, but since I’m “being punished” (literally the reason the forums gives me), I can’t make threads.

You know you’re playing a game made by Anet when everything they promised in the patch is not there and when you complain about it, you get ignored.

It’s not just ignored: we get mocked.

Normally, I would disgaree with statements like this. But one look at the dev tracker shows that devs ARE posting… just about other topics. For whatever reason the fractal update is the singular hot topic that is being consciously ignored in an obvious way.

I cannot fathom the community reaction if a major, flawed WvW patch was released and the devs went 100% completely silent for two weeks. Not a single “We’re looking into it” nor a “This is operating as intended” or “that fix should be in next week’s patch” or “We havent had a chance to address that particular problem yet but we will.”

Take on look at the dev tracker. Edge of the Mists and Collaborative Development (both WvW topics) are getting massive developer involvement. I understand ‘separate teams’ etc. But its obvious where the love is. It’s obvious what the red-headed step child is.

Here is the issue Anet’s PR/community relations people don’t seem to get: silence is worse than bad news. You can tell us that fixes for particular things aren’t coming soon. You can tell us that we shouldn’t expect XYZ. We may not like those answers, but they are at least answers and the put the topic to bed. When you just give silence, people jump to conclusions, forment anger, create conspiracy theories and become disillusioned. I am not a professional PR or community relations spokesperson, but I know for a fact that you are mishandling this situation completely.

It boggles my mind too that it’s been over a year and they still have to learn this.

The real issue at the heart of all of this is that their priorities are completely backwards, they are more interested in pumping out a high quantity of content than high quality content. It’s been this way for almost a year now. Of course this was brought up in the collaborative development thread, this update is just more to the contrary of what their response was, which was basically along the lines of “We think everything’s fine but if things go bad we will adjust”

I’m use to the dungeon subforum being ignored but typically the on-going LS subforum has dev feedback, at least in regards to perceived bugs. I’m not sure what’s going on, but they are really letting the wound fester by not giving a reply.

No idea if anyone has mentioned this in this thread, but if you get hit by one of the molten firestorm’s red firery circles, you automatically get two stacks of agony since he seems to fire two shots in one place. Maybe this is working as intended, but to me it’s quite unfair given in the Jade Maw, you can never get multiple stacks of agony. I saw one of my guildies manage to get 5 stacks at once. That’s just ridiculous. Not to mention the issues of getting agony when you’re not even in a red circle or being hit by a wave. This can be a really fun fight, but the ability to get stacks of agony should go imo.

We also had the pleasure of getting dredge before the molten duo… again (we keep getting this.. seen it 3-4 times lately) but unfortunately we got the bomb door which is SO MUCH WORSE than the guns. SO many more dredge spawns in that whole area than there used to be. Why? Just why Anet?? Why add more enemies to one that already had too many to begin with!?!

Such an unpleasant run that was.

Another bug at the Thaumanova fractal. If you fail to save the researchers in the dormitories in time, they cannot be ressed, and won’t open the doors. At least one of the doors will remain locked, and you will be unable to get the second cooling rod. We were some how able to still pass through the death room, and activate the console at the back. But this is clearly not how this bit was intended.

I’m too lazy to go through the thread, but there is one annoying bug in the Cliffside Fractal and one in the underwater fractal:

  • In Cliffside: if you wipe the final boss fight at the 3rd or 4th phase, the seal and the Archdiviner HP will reset but Archdiviner will stay in phase3, meaning that he spawns bone fiends, does pbAoE agony and pulls players and cages them, you name it.
  • In the Aquatic Ruins Fractal, if you get caught by the Jellyfish’s agony attack and get killed by it you will get no down state, instead you will be instantly dead. I’m not sure if this is a bug or not, but this would be the single occasion in the game where a mechanic instantly defeats you instead of putting you into down state.

I think this is a good idea, or at least worth trying.

For every single issue or bug we could create a seperate thread, and bump them, if they are not answered.

So we observe their rules and they should not be too glad about the bug-subforum flowing over.

Something like this:
(taken from Nike´s initial post)

- Issue: FotM, drop of uninfused rings in higher levels
Uninfused Rings continue to drop through level 49. An infused ring at 49 is

bad enough, an uninfused ring is a slap in the face. This is obviously

broken and needs to be fixed.

- Issue: FoTM, account-bound recipes in
The new recipes are account bound. I have both recipes now, each new recipe

that drops is useless for me, these should be sellable. It wouldn’t hurt the

market for the Runes/Sigils since they are very limited by Shards which are

a relatively scarce resource.

- Bug: FotM, Aquatic Ruins Fractal, Krait get stuck in ceiling
Krait still get stuck in the ceiling and you have to hope you can get far

enough away from them to reset them or else your progress could be lost.

Granted this is the first part of the first fractal, but it is still

technically a game-breaking bug and ought to be fixed out of principle.

- Bug: FotM, Cliffside Fractal, arm seals do not properly reset
The arms seals do not properly reset to 2 chanters on each side in case of a

wipe. This is mildly annoying in the 30’s for a good group. This is pretty

tough in the 40’s and will only get more difficult for unorganized groups as

progress into the 50’s and beyond begins to happen. This was supposed to

have been fixed months ago but that promised change appears to have not

happened and been forgotten.

Just did a long 37 run and we killed molten bosses and no chest, no win, no loot, big waste of time run. Killed Molten firestorm 2nd, don’t recommend anyone ever doing that after that happening.

He died and disappeared and event never completed, just showed in top right that boss had no health forever.

One more bug with the Molten Boss duo battle:

The Molten Berserker will sometimes knock away people from the other side of the arena. You could be on the other end of the arena, but when the Berserker lands, he still knocks you off the platform without any visual indication.

Now this wasn’t a case of a visual not showing up (the shockwaves appeared just fine). There was nothing hitting me, I just got launched off the arena randomly, and killed. He shouldn’t be able to hit you when you are not even remotely near him.

Finally rolled Solid Ocean fractal tonight for the first time after the updates, and I have to say the camera was awful on my charr. Out of 3-4 times that I got targeted by Maw, I was only able to notice the skull once. I also missed the last puke of death skull.

yeah, that was mentioned earlier, there was nothing wrong with the camera in that fight prepatch so why they broke it is beyond me. I suspect it was not intentional they were probably pressed for time and grabbed old code.

A little quality control would go so far for this game, but when you have stupid self imposed deadlines …
