Dear fellow GW2 WvW Players! Right now, Blackgate is looking for any transfers (NA/EU/Oceanic) to strengthen our Blackgate server. There is room for everyone to WvW. The worst queue time in EBG is around 10 minutes but the other borderlands have virtually no queue! We have an extremely solid community as well as proven, WvW experienced players to even PUGs. So if you’re looking for a 24/7 WvW challenge and a place that has virtually no WvW queue yet being very competitive in performance (won 9 weeks continuously in tier2 and now in tier1 -18/1/13), Blackgate is the place for you! Advantages to Joining Blackgate:

-Now in Tier 1! After proving our dominance in T2 against SoR/IoJ/TC for 9 weeks consecutive, we’ve since moved on to Tier 1. We give each server a run for their money even though we are the new kids on the block. Do you enjoy being the underdog and showing up those who believe they are better? Then come watch Blackgate’s finest on the field!
-Awesome coverage on Oceanic. With the recent transfer of DS/ND, we’re able to compete with SoS and JQ’s during these times. You’ll find that there is always a challenge and fun to be had!
-Great coverage on EU. We have HB, RK and their EU gang leading the charge plus our EU teams are superb awesome (see HB vid below)

Seems like Blackgate has enough players. More would only imbalance T2 further. Send some oceanics to TC/SoR and even things up :P

We aren’t content with being the king of tier 2. We want to improve coverage to actually be able to compete all week long in tier 1. We can’t get to tier 1 then try to recruit, that makes no sense. So must do it while still in tier 2. We have the best all around coverage in tier 2 which means we are the best suited to try to break into t1 and stay there.

BG isn’t going to be a T2 server for long. You guys should worry about SBI instead.

BG will be in T1 soon if nothing changes and for that they need every person they can get. Not that they couldn’t do well as-is.

I think this server has a bright future in T1. I hope so at least, they are good people.

Do you want to be… the very best… like no one ever was?! Blackgate has the best guild-to-guild communication when it comes to WvWvW hands-down. We all work together and our pugs just seem to know what to do and where to go without even being told. If you are looking for some amazing W3 action or just looking for a friendly server that is helpful and experienced; then Blackgate is where you want to be!

In addition to all being said, yes we aint satisfy with our coverage yet. In order for us to be able to compete in tier1 we need more from all timezome. Right now the best we can fill is EBG, but the rest of the borderlands rarely been queued. So yea plenty of rooms for any WvW guild to join for actions!

BG likes to act like they have a weak NA presence but its just overshadowed by SoR NA. Its still very good. SoR peaks at like 300-350 ppt during NA and BG peaks at like 500-600 during oceanic. They definitely have the nightcrew for tier 1 and I hope you guys make it there within 2 weeks.

I’ll just put this here….for reasons. ;D

Im in the est of US and I’ve been a member of Blackgate for 2.5 months or so. I’ve been in a large pve guild (any dragon spawns and bam you will most likely see 5-10+ of them there) that is slowly trying to have organized guild wvw nights 2x a week. Then recently I joined a heavy large wvw guild that is part of the alliance that is 99% all about wvw. But the majority of my time here has been guildless so I have seen it from all 3 different angles here on Blackgate. My playtime is normally around 6pm est → roughly 1-4 am est.

Now with that being said this is what I have seen and learned. Prime time (5-11pm est to cover the west coast as well) Blackgate somewhat “struggles.” Almost always there is 1 borderland map where we either have the outmanned buff or break out event available or will be soon. At times I prefer solo wvw and don’t follow the guild’s zerg on whatever map we are on for the “challenge.” I like doing the breakout events and seeing how long with 90% PUGS we can hold off the massive zergs that come our way and see how well we do without a commander on the map ala how well we communicate/work well with one another when no “chief” is around; only us “indians.” Is it more frustrating? Hell yes it is. But is it more rewarding when we succeed? With out question yes.

Here is a perfect example of Blackgate’s weakness. Roughly an hour or so after reset last week I left an enemie’s Borderland map and went to our map. Upon arrival I was SHOCKED to see we had NOTHING on our own map. Then to my surprise I saw the ONLY commander there ORDER everyone off of our OWN map to goto the borderland map I had just left. Even though it now had a que to enter so 20-30+ just stood there ignoring the report to Cdr breakout event possibility. After I had a wth moment in team chat people finally came to do the event. Another example is last week I tried 5x in a row to do the breakout event on a borderland event and failed each time (some of the time we had the outmanned buff).

What does this boil down to and how is BG doing so well? Well a few of my new guildies put it best to me the other day. Us here in NA primetime do our best to hold off the opposing sides as best we can and try and take/upgrade/build siege as best as we can so that once our Oceanic guilds come on they can move out en mass taking everything in sight. Basically we try and set them up to demolish everything in sight as quickly and easily as possible. They are “carrying” us to our victories so we do whatever we can to try and help them.

Now Blackgate has a unique but good problem to have that ANY OTHER SERVER would love to have. We have the BEST Oceanic coverage out there but are lacking when compared to other servers in North America prime time coverage. I’m not saying we are “bad” but when you stack our North America prime time coverage against our opponents we are inferior but CLOSE. Where we shine and are unmatched is our Oceanic coverage. I typically see 160-280 points for us at anytime with the possibilty of a breakout event on 1 borderland map when I am on and then I see ss’s of when I’m not of us having kitten near everything out there.

So where does this lead to the prospective NA guilds out there contemplating a transfer? We have a dedicated mumble/website for all of Blackgate to utilize to communicate as much as possible. There would always be an opportunity to take the entire guild onto the same bordelands map at least (ie at least 1/3 could always use some more people). If you NEED a commander to hop onto a map and lead you can always hop onto the mumble and ask. From what I have seen many people are willing to do it if they are needed. We will be moving up to Tier one soon and we are making plans to SUCCEED there. We have identified our strengths and weaknesses and are looking to make ourselves better. Also take it from someone who pugs alot in wvw that even our pugs shine most of the time.

What it boils down to is if you wish to join a server who is SERIOUS about making the jump back up to Tier one and succeeding then Blackgate is the home for you. We have all the tools in place. Now we just need you….

I wanted to chime in and back up what Nirvii says. Blackgate is a server filled with really awesome players and some of the best guilds in GW2. For the past 6 weeks, BG has constantly been #1 in Tier 2.

Our opponents almost always outnumber us, and they are always complaining about the long queues to get into ANY of their BGs. I didn’t realize GW2 still had queues, because I never see them. The only exception might be in EBG right after reset, but even then it’s only taken a few minutes for me to get in.

If you’re you’re not afraid to fight when outnumbered, if you’re don’t want to deal with a bunch of drama and egos, and you’re looking for a long-term place to call home where compelling and competitive WvW is always only one click away, Blackgate is definitely worth looking into.

As a guild leader in a small WvW guild that focuses on skirshing, I can say that we are very happy with the fight on this server. This is both due to this server and the opposing servers in this tier. This server has been a blast to play on!

I am sorry but once he said this he lost all credibility on this thread. And why would he have been talking about tier one when he goes on to mention that that for the past six weeks they have been playing in tier two? Also I am curious where he hears all this complaining about long queues to get into any of OUR bg’s? I am just here to separate the bs from the truth.

We are closer to T1 now than ever before… If there is a guild that is reading this that wants to be apart of the best W3 community in the game that has dedication and strives for the top spot then Blackgate is for you

During NA primetime we are frequently outnumbered. I know one thing. LotD massacres any TC and SoR fights where we aren’t more than 1.5x outnumbered, and can frequently defend against 3x numbers.

Anyone at Garrison Keep last Friday night at SoR borderlands knows exactly what I’m talking about. I’m hoping some of the good players from IoJ and SoR join up so we can stomp Tier 1 in a few weeks.

You answered your own rant. It was pretty obvious he was referring to being outnumbered during NA prime time. Also, TC / SoR themselves have mentioned multiple times that, during NA prime time, there are queues on multiple BLs+EB.

It is very rare for TC to have a queue on more than EB and sometimes TC BL even during primetime and queues typically pop in 3 mins or less.

Why is SoR coming into our recruitment thread trying to derail it? As of this post not a single BG poster has went into SoRs thread and said anything, yet we’ve had posts from SoR in ours trying to hijack the thread and turn it into a flame fest. We can see who is more classier just from that simple fact.

I play mostly during NA. And in this thread here, I was really surprised to see your server arguing with each other about “taking spots” in unassigned battlegrounds. We’ve never had that problem on Blackgate.

Sadly, this addiction from a lot of SoR’s community has made elitism rampant among us. Drama-filled elitism. People who are only having fun so long as they’re winning. Players or other guilds that may not be as skilled as some others are regularly being told to get out of WvW or outright being called a waste of space.

It’s childish, disrespectful, and wrong. I not only disagree with it, I heavily condemn it.

The anger towards your guild had nothing to do with an elitest attitude or being lesser skilled.

Your representatives at the server meeting requested an entire borderland for your guild as its so large, we accomidated this request by giving you green.

Your guild then preceded to come into red locking out members from the various other guilds that were assigned to red.

The outrage was more than justified.

Blackgate is not without our challenges, that’s for sure. But too many people in WvW has never been one of them.

The videos are there to promote the server. It’s one kind of a PR thing. People wanna join the server when they know there are awesome people around! Check the vids, that’s the one i highly selected containing awesome feats inside.

Maven [MVN] has been on Blackgate from the beginning and honored to play a long side all of the guilds that have worked so hard to get where they are at. This server belongs to be in Tier 1. Even though I haven’t played GW2 much, I’ve been active out there recently to help my guild mates and the server in every way I can. I’ve been gaming a long time and seen it all. This server is top notch, one of the best I’ve seen in all the games I’ve played. Blackgate could be the best. We just need those time zones covered to compete 24/7. If your team is looking for a server to be a part of that works well together, works hard for their position in WvW on a daily basis. Then this server is where you and your team needs to be.

I keep reading about blackgate being in Tier 1 for WvW. But I thought blackgate is going back to tier 2 next week?

If you have problem moving to Blackgate, here is the timeslot that usually seen as “very high”:
10pm – 2am GMT+7
6am – 9am GMT+7
3pm – 5pm GMT+7
