Q:
Best Way to Get Haunted Door Achievement?
there’s 3 doors that spawns close to each other in Gendarran Fields ( near the pirates upper east about ) I just camped those 3 and aoe/tagged everything that everyone spawned and crossed my fingers.
Worked out pretty well but I agree that they die fast lol
I assume there will be more ways to kill these creatures during the next few Acts.
The achievement page suggests that we may be able to enter the Mad King’s Realm. I expect this will involve fighting more of these creatures than the Haunted Doors provide.
In Gendarran Fields theres a place where 4 spawn in a close vicinity. Most of the time theres a zerg of players there. Not sure what the place is called but its a pirate trove. When i get home from work ill look for the name. But its fast to complete the achievement.

Thanks, guys. I had been running around Gendarran Fields rather haphazardly to get to the last part of the scavenger hunt. I’m slightly squishy for the area, being in the low 20s, but maybe if a group forms I can try and mix in with them.
And I very much hope I’ll be able to go into the Mad King’s Realm to fight beasties, at some point. I’d stay in there until I had my achievement.
You can also do the personal trick or treat bag locations. Three spawn skeletons ( i think its 3 skeles, 4 skeles, and 4 skeles), and one spawns the candy corn elementals.
Please give us a keyring…
Which ones are those? I only tried the ToT locations in LA (which are gone, now, unfortunately) but I was going to move to the others when I got off work, today.
I’m 80 and i have trouble tagging the mobs that come out of the doors :/ (mesmer)
How low 20’s are meant to handle this…

Nope, just like everything else in this game you gotta farm ‘em. Doing it in Gendarran Fields in the morning is probably your best bet. I’m thinking they’ll start popping up more and more as the event goes on so you could wait? That’s what I’m doing because it’s super boring to farm.

Curses! Well, at least it lasts for a while. I’ll have more time to run around tonight tomorrow and the weekend. My past strategy was to run off in random directions and cross my fingers, but I suppose patience is my friend.
Having the same problem
Right now, running the Gendarran Fields run nets a nice chuck of bags and doors in a couple hours time. I’m sure as the acts progress you’ll be able to move through the achievements steadily.
I did this in Gendarran Fields, using the 4 that respawn. I think the exact spot is just below and to the right (when looking at the world map) of the Provern Shore Waypoint. There were about 40 players there when I did mine – It was great!

I was with a group camping a spawn point in Gendarran Fields last night. As a thief, I figured it would be best to hang back and use the short-bow to throw in poison clouds and cluster bombs… I was very rarely getting any kills though. So, I tried the old, ‘run up against the door and mash the 1 key with daggers equipped throwing in the occasional Death Blossom’, trick. At that point I started getting between three and ten kills per door.
Not the most graceful tactic I know. It got me the achievement though :/
I think that the problem with this is that the mobs are too weak, well, that and having to wait around for doors to spawn for short periods of time coupled with doors bugging. Added together it makes getting the achievement more of a chore than a pleasure. If more veterans spawned it would at least give people a chance to land a few blows before the mob goes down. It’s no fun running up to a half dozen doors in a row, laying down aoe or whatever to try to deal damage to a mob that won’t be alive for more than a third of a second only to check your progress toward the achievement and see that it hasn’t budged.
I also think that it’s possible that once we’re able to go through the doors and enter the mad king’s realm that all mob kills there will count towards the achievement. Can’t say for sure, of course, but we’ll know soon enough.

What’s the point of getting this achievement again? We don’t need this completed to move on to the next act do we? …

No, but folks who want the Emissary of the Mad King title will need to complete it.
Yeah there’s always like massive parties for FOUR doors in Gendarran Fields – Brigantine Waypoint shore, Provern Waypoint hill, under the Provern Waypoint on the west side on the beach, and to the east of the waypoint on the beach as well. All really close to each other and spawns every now and then. Just camp that! Tons of ToT bags and candy corn as well
I’ve been on my level 40 mesmer during these and mesmers can be slow and can’t really zerg aoe, so i just pulled out my sword and stood right in front of the door and autoattacked. You catch the first mobs at least with one or two hits which is enough to score you a kill
ALWAYS melee for these zerg like farming events if your AoE requires set up or takes time or has long CD XD unless its absolutely dangerous to do so. But it’s not because these things are quite tame

oooo ok i already have it :x i got it when the doors were buggy and spawning mobs non-stop just wasn’t sure it was it
Completing the Halloween Huntin achievement progresses the main achievement for the mad king title.
You don’t have to kill them from the doors. The skeletons that spawn in the Queensdale graveyard when you use the scanner count. There are eight per character per day and you can get credit for killing the ones other players spawn too. Just take a few people to Queensdale graveyard and take turns spawning them for a few minutes, or just cycle it through your alts (they’re level 5). Easy.
Doors are always at the same spot. When you find a door with an event, keep it in mind and check every few minutes. I’m not sure about the event door spawn time, but regular door spawns quite often.
My tiny Asura butt is parked just outside Divinity’s Reach, right now, so I’m heading right there when I get home!
