Well, for one thing, the exotic market went down by 40% and would have gone down more if they hadn’t fixed it.
Seems like it’d be kinda unfair for players who paid, say, 25g for a Charrzooka to log in after 24 hours and learn that oops, it’s only worth 1g now, and they should have waited instead of buying it.

Well basically the Mad King’s Labyrinth will now only be NPC’s because no one will be there to play in it… Yes the chest from the Champions was nerfed and now you can only loot it once a day. So tomorrow if you wanna go kill the Champions. You just get nerfed loot, so its not really worth it to me… Holiday fun is no longer fun. I thought that was the point of holiday events.
Nerfing the drops from the chest was fine as it was. Jormag isn’t even this bad guys. It’s an EVENT. You need to make it special for us.
I did the event two times, one on overflow and one on the main server, I got loot (kitten white items) both times, after the patch. Has anyone else done that?
I haven’t tried that yet..And sorry about the white items..always hate hearing that.
Well i am disappointed to say the least, i was hoping to have the means to get arachnophobia and the mad king’s set this Halloween by using the labyrinth chests. With this nerf neither will happen- Happy Halloween everyone.
My moves are fresh, like my groceries.

Seems to be the case, managed to open my first chest but the latter 5 all didn’t budge.

What event and where is it?
Since the nerf I got a green and a handful of candy from Family Size and a white item and some coin from Skeleton. And, even with magic finder food and all, I was getting grey porous bone from the regular mobs. Not trick or treat bags, not ancient bones, not chattering skulls…..porous bones and some ooze gunk. Basically the equivalent of Trick or Treating and hoping for a king sized Butterfinger, being happy over fun sized candy bars, but only receiving those icky little black and orange taffy things that are just GROSS!
It wasn’t a bad fix, it was an emergency fix. When something’s on fire, you do whatever you can to put out the fire, THEN you repair the damage. The economy (for exotics) was on fire, they had to do something as quickly as possible, and this was probably the easiest.
And that’s assuming they really wanted you to to be able to loot a chest every 20 minutes, because there’s not a single other event that spawns a chest at the end that has a 20-minute quest chain. Not a single jumping puzzle, not a single champion mob, not a single dragon can be farmed every 20 minutes for the same loot.
Where this is true, by now, they’ve had time to let us know what’s going down about these little hot fixes. I’d appreciate to hear from them to say the least.

All you’ll hear is that the loot from the chests was at an incorrect rate and was adjusted per design.
The point of going to a zone is that it’s supposed to be fun, not just profitable. That’s why everyone hates Orr – it’s the most profitable place so people who farm feel like they have to go there to do it, but no one likes killing all the Risen or running around it on their own.
So I am at the event area and there is no one here anymore. I guess thats it for Mad King’s Labyrinth

You mean before the nerf it was dropping exotics over exotics every run?
Lol the only chest where finally i would have seen an exotic, and they put it back to be a trashy chest like any other of this game. Nice.

But then again this isn’t a permanent everyday feature. Once a day for every day of the year is different than once a day for a few days.
After the nerf I still got an exotic, I just couldn’t farm it over and over.

If it was a permanent event I can see nerfing it to once a day, but this is a holiday event thats supposed to be fun (nice loot and that loot having a chance to have a unique style).

Getting worthless items is never fun.
Anet seems not hearing we want exotics dropping, rarely, but dropping from EVERY chest, not a bug who must be fixed. WE WANT EXOTICS.
So, it was ok that a boss could be farmed every 20 minutes for exotics, without anybody thinking it was an exploit? But it wasn’t ok for anybody who spent their money on keys to expect a skin after $50? lol. Anet’s got some real damage control to do over this.
Then do you do things that aren’t farming? Do you not do jumping puzzles? Do you not SPVP? Do you not level up alts?
The problem wans’t that the loot was nice. The problem wasthe loot was getting worse and worse by the hour. A level 78 exo used to be worth 70s, then it was worth 50s, then it was worth 20s, and within another day or two, they’d have been worth 5s and people would have been complaining that not only was the loot bad, but that all their previous exotic weapons were worthless.
It was seriously, noticeably impacting the market and it was doing so too quickly to be controlled.
And I mean if you’re still getting half the loot but only twice a day per character, I’m not sure I’d call that “worthless”. Maybe now that exo you get for doing the event will be worth 70s instead of 10s.
Yeah . . . I get the “WAHH the exotics market was plummeting”, but you want to know what’s plummeting now?

So maybe it just comes down to a difference in philosophy? I’d design the event stuff to be fun, rather than nerf it to protect the economy.
Or nerf the drop rate, or add diminishing returns, or anything but make this whole zone worthless by locking players out of the reason to do content.
They did nerf the drop rate. It still gives you two chests per character per day. How is that not fun the first time?
You know what’s not fun? “Orr is the best way to farm karma and gold so you have to farm in Orr.” This would have just turned into that, if they didn’t make it so that after the first two chests per character per day, you didn’t get the rewards (except for the generic “completed an event” reward.)
EDIT: The exo I got was on a level 80 character, by the way. My level 29 character didn’t get any in his two tries, but, well… I was on a level 29 character, he probably shouldn’t be getting level 80 exotic weapons anyways.
you have to understand. The in game currency of GW2 has a real money value and Anet has to protect the economy of the game or it all falls apart.

I looted the large chest 4 times, and I got some greens. Post-patch I’m locked out.
Since the loot is random, and I can only do it once a day now, what incentive do I have to bother coming back and doing that? Might as well go back to farming dungeons, at least I’ll get something out of that.
All this talk about “economy this” and “worthless loot that” ignores the fact that the nerf has ruined the fun of the event. The Labyrinth I’m in right now maybe has half the population pre-patch.
So I guess yay? The economy is fixed so who cares if it’s fun?

Also, I don’t think their intent was that players would feel like they had to farm one event over and over and over again, for the entire event, which is what would have happened if they’d left it.
It’s supposed to be fun the first one or two times, and then get less fun – which it would. Even if the loot stayed the same, you’d be thinking “ugh, I have to keep going but I’ve been farming for 10 hours and i’m really sick of it.”

I only farm for legendaries, don’t do jumping puzzles anymore because it gives nothing, I don’t do SPVP, and I hate alts.
I have 542 hrs on my character and the only thing I am doing is going for some legendaries, I had hoped that this Halloween event would add some fun things but it its just another grind from a company that said there would be no grind.
Part of the fun is hoping for the awesome chance at “exclusive” loot. Exclusive being that you can only get it from this event, and now that chance has been nerfed indefinitely. This takes the fun out of the event because it makes the user think – Oh gee, my chances really aren’t that great are they? Guess I shouldn’t bother? That’s for you to decide in the long run.
Uh, do… you not enjoy the game then? Maybe you should take a break and come back in a month or two when there’s more fun things to do. Maybe you should do something that isn’t grinding?
There are new minigames. They don’t really give you any gold, but some people think they’re fun and I want to try them in a few minutes.
The whole point of a game with no subscription fee is so that if you feel there’s nothing left to do or explore or play or try, you can quit and come back in two months.
GG i get better loot in cursed shores, 2 greens from 2 champion chests and 1 of them is not even level 80, with full MF set on me, normal mobs drop porous bones and other random junk which you get from sub level 80 areas, even though this clearly is a level 80 area, all in all great quality event, fun spider meshes, ruined completely by anet nerf standard seal of approval.
I think you misunderstand the body of the message. I said part of the fun, maybe not specifying the halloween event only, but I meant to say the fun of the labyrinth. Yeah there are other fun things to do, but I enjoy farming something other than Orr or Frostgourge.
Fact is , now doing that place is a 1day thing if that much.
Wasting time on halloween things.

What weapons though? I have no weapons. I have nothing. I got the exotic from the jumping puzzle after I spent two hours learning it – how is that different from farming?
I understand what you are saying, and it’s perfectly rational, but I don’t think pure rationality should have been the response here; they should have said “Wow, people are flocking to this zone and really having fun with our event, neat!” instead of “OMG, now who will buy gems so they can afford our phatlewt!?!”
I don’t know that I’ll go back to the labyrinth tomorrow – I don’t trust that “next time” will be the time an Exotic decides to drop for me. I’ve already played the pvp events about as much as I care to, and having beaten the jumping puzzle, that’s most of that fun for me.
I would have been perfectly content to farm the labyrinth even if anything I got that I couldn’t use wasn’t worth anything more than vendoring – at least I would have gotten something for once! – instead, I guess I’ll go back to forgetting this event even exists.
What annoys me about it is that now it’s basically impossible to get the Mad Kings set if they were all in those stupid chests. They could at least make there be a set number of Mad King tokens or something in each chest if it’s going to be this low for looting it! Place a vendor in the game and let us get something. They should have had this sorted out before they updated the game.
Yeah, you’re supposed to only do it once, and then maybe once a day or something. That’s how I feel these events SHOULD be, unless you find the gameplay fun (like Rumble whatever, or spvp or dungeons – which, again, people feel like they have to do to get loot, which is kinda unfortunate).
It’s not unfortunate. It’s a gameplay preference and opinion. Col, I understand where you’re coming from, but at the same time, I understand the aspect of the other gamers. People need to fill their desires with gameplay in different ways. Some may look more “unfortunate” than others, but the fact is, everyone is different.
Sorry if it sounded it was directed to you, it was directed to the original thread talk about rogue nerf patch, also, i disagree, for me its not fun when u know ure wasting ur drop potential for no gain, you hf 5-10 mins and then move on after that as theres nothing that appeals or makes ur gametime worth it over lets say a level 80 standard zone, which is a shame as this semms that had at least a bit of effort involved to be developed.
