How much money did you spend on BL keys...
Absolutely nothing.
Luckily I’d already decided I didn’t want the skins and wasn’t going to waste money on a virtual lottery.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
At least you got a skin. There are some folks that did not. No way to make the MKC after Halloween is over, so have to wait until next year to see if they bring the same skins back or not. All in all, it was a good holiday event, and congratulations to the folks that got lucky!

None, but I did spend $20 for some gems for the minipets.
zero. kept all my keys from the start.
You had to know there would be something special to use them for.
Had about 25 keys. Got two skins. Made really good gold.
If you spent $200, sorry but that is nuts. About $40 in gems would get you 12 gold at least (more now). You could have done that and got stuff via TP.
You REALLY went assbackwards in trying to land skins.
None, but I did spend $20 for some gems for the minipets.
Me too!
I wasn’t going to risk any of my money on the chests, and I am sympathetic to those who did not get so lucky.
$0.
There isn’t a single game that has ever, or will ever be released, where the item you buy for gambling is worth what you pay.
Spent 30 dollars. I enjoy gambling in moderation and the fix I got was worth it :-P
Also I got a skin that was worth about 20g and mats that I was able to sell for another 5-6 so I’m happy :-D
i spent $125 on keys and get none back. well, i think Anet should increase the chance for those BLC or else noone gonna try it anymore.
plus, they should increase the amout of gold u can get when trading gem to gold so epople wont go on other gold selling website.
None, and the people complaining about drop rate for skins should really stop. A gamble is a gamble.. it was your choice to waste the money. I chose not to, and still had fun, bought the mad king costume though because it’s awesome. Those skins are supposed to be rare, if they weren’t everyone would have them and that kinda defeats the purpose, no?
Should have kept it to about 40 dollars max on keys imo.
Actually, I guess the gamble wasn’t so bad. The skin I got is currently selling for 40g and I made 2 of the three legendary recipes.
I spent 0 , had 13 keys , got nothing.
If Anet wants me to spend money , they first need to take out the RNG.[
Or you know , i will use the TP and buy the items anyway.
Nothing, I value my money. Besides most people that actually bought keys have done nothing but whine about getting nothing out of it.
Gandara
$16. I didn’t get a skin. I’m not angry, but I doubt I’ll ever purchase keys again. Drop rate should have been at least 10%. People purchasing keys would be happy and the prices for all skins would be about 1g or less. The rare stuff should have come from ToT bags
$20 to get some keys and a costume, and got one skin. I’m content with this.
I spent $80 (don’t tell my wife!) I got the Greatsaw skin out of the first $50 from one of the 35 BL chests I had. I also used gems for bank space, minis, MK outfit and some dyes so I didn’t blow it all on keys. I did buy a lot of keys though…

$20-$30 and got nadda. I desperately want the chainsaw skin for my sylvari too
Critical Impact [Crit]
Spent on one stack of keys, that’s all.
Did not get anything good out of it, but these things works like gambling, it’s going to suck you in on every box you open. So take control of your addiction!
Bought 50 euros worth of gems. Bought all mini pets including the rare; 3 additional bank tabs; MK outfiit ankitteny. If I want to gamble I go to a casino.
Arenanet gambling is illegal in many places in the world! Using real money to buy chests for a slim chance to win skins is gambling!
Next time just make the skins buyable in the gem shop or loot from events/puzzles.
I spent some money to buy some gems for town clothing/armor. What was left of the gems I spent on keys that I will not buy again with real money.
I didn’t spend a dime, I got 6 skins.
How much grinding did you have to do to get 6 skins in the TP?
only bought mad king costume (ow and the awesome ghost head thingy) so 10 euros and some in game moneyz.
Spent $20 in total so far. HOWEVER…. My tpvp team is pretty serious. Gotten over 2500 gems doing paid tournaments. MOAR TO COME.
About $50. Kinda muffed that I didn’t even get a simple shoulder skin…. Next time I won’t be doing that again!
Nothing. I waited to see what the drop rate was, and decided it was too low to waste my money on.
I did get a shoulder skin by using the 3 keys(which multiplied into 6-7 keys) I had left in my inventory.
Wish I had known they’d be used for Halloween a month ago… I had 22 and used em all up prior to the event being announced. Oh well, lesson learned.
I spent my actual in game gems didn’t get anything and left it alone. You gotta know a gold trap when you see it lol.
Guardian Paladin 2.5 Build,So We Are 80 Series “Weekly”
Guardian Berserker 3.0 Build
If the skins had been on the gemstore, i would have bought them all. Because they weren’t and I am not going to waste money gambling for digital items I spent $0 on BL keys, used the ones i had to roll chests, got a few lvl 80 transmute stones which was nice i guess.
However, I DID spend money on skins in league. So i hope Anet is happy losing $20 to Riot.
well IM not buying any keys ever again, spent $50. Had some keys saved up. Opened 80 chests and 30 mad king chests. Got nothing from it. Anet just lost out on ever getting my money again.
$0. I waited to see how abysmal the drop rate was. I did spend money on keys from the Mann Co. Store, and got something from every chest I opened from them though.
Absolutely nothing. I figured it was going to be an abysmal drop rate, and other than skins, the stuff inside is pretty weak for what you pay, IMHO. I did open about 10 chests from keys that I had from drops. Got zip except for the junk.
Loved the event, but this whole gambling thing gives Anet bad rep points, even if (I’m sure) it’s very profitable for them. Preying on man’s weakness is never very pretty.
I spent gold on armor dye not on keys.
- great warlord Waha of Sea 2981bc
On chests? Nada.
I did spend a pretty penny for the mini-pets, the Witch Costume, the Pirate Costume, the Boxing Gloves, the Mad King Costume, and the Phantom’s Hood. Basically, you know, all of the guaranteed Halloween items.
I did get some tonics from some converted Mad King Chests, though, which was kind of cool.
Goal: To have one character of every race, gender, and armor class combination at level 80.
Current progress: Human 4/6 | Charr 1/6 | Norn 1/6 | Sylvari 1/6 | Asura 1/6 | Total: 8/30
I didn’t buy any keys or any halloween stuff. I only buy $10 of gems a month and spent my gems on bank space and traded a bit of in game curency for the usual mini pets at the begining of the month so had no gems left for halloween.
And I did not want to spend anymore money.
I do gamble but not for pixels. I’d rather spend some money to buy real lotto for a chance to win real money.
I did get 1 key from a drop, but the chest had no skin.
Zero. I spend gems I already had on the min pets, but I will never, EVER gamble with them. I was one of the lucky few who opened one single chest with a key I got from in-game and got a ghastly shield skin. I promptly sold it.
I spent nothing and went through at least 20 keys with 0 to show for it. I also went through at least 50 mad king chests and quite a few of the chests you make in the forge also with 0 to show for it.
I love how people just throw the term gambling around and compare this type of gamble to casinos, makes me think that most of you probably A) aren’t old enough to even gamble or B ) have never stepped foot in a casino. See the odds are usually pretty decent on most games in a casino especially black jack, and particularly poker which requires more skill than luck and that’s the biggest form of gambling. That’s what makes gambling in a casino fun, this type of gambling with these types of odds, not so much, hence why people are so bitter.
Long term gambling in a casino favors the casino, short term gambling and knowing when to quite while you are ahead is in the players favor, hence why casinos always do great business. If all games in a casino had the same odds as the BLC’s do they would go out of business really fast.

No gambling favours the player. That is why casinos can stay in business.
I just used some keys that I had saved up, and created some Mad King Chests with some spare boosters and tonics I had lying around. Got nothing valuable out of them, but I’m not out of pocket either.
I don’t understand why people say that it was a gamble..
The store home page specifically says to “Discover the secrets of the Black Lion Chest”, not “Discover how much money we can scam out of you”
I heard some forumers said the chances are between 0.5 ~ 2%.
Imo, gambling for in-game items are okay but they must make it fun instead of punishing. Something that makes players feel they still feel fun even though they didn’t achieve the top prizes. I gave my suggestion on how to do that in one of the pinned topics here.
I spent around $60 for keys, didn’t get anything besides tonics and some boosters. Never again.
i got 1 key from a drop and got the light armor shoulder skin out of the chest i opened
I’ve only spent $50 on keys in total when they announced the perma-trader as a drop, the rest of them I opened with gold. See my thread for the results: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/After-opening-2-stacks-of-BLCs-some-constructive-feedback/
To answer your question, with over 600 BLC’s opened, practically nothing except for 2 (!) account bound mystery tonics…
Spent 0/ZERO! No skin and very happy
Recruiting dungeon raiders.
Spending that much money on a chance to get skins that you’ll probably replace in the future is beyond me…
To all the people saying they got absolutely nothing from their BLC’s, are you serious? You didn’t get ANYTHING at all? Like idk, boosters, tools, tonics? none of that? Feel free to complain all you want about how A-net didn’t just hand you the special skins, but you can not say you got nothing out of them.

Zero.

I didn’t spend any money on keys and never will. As people before me have mentioned, chest gambling in MMOs is rarely, if ever, a good choice. Especially if you’re doing it with real money. I’ve seen people complaining about this on the forums for pretty much the entirety of the event and I have to say that I have absolutely zero sympathy for them. Anet didn’t force them to spend their money on keys. It was a choice they made themselves and seem upset that it was both a bad one and had consequences. The lesson that they should have learned is, “Don’t gamble with money you’re not willing to lose” but instead seem to be reinforcing the lesson of, “If I complain loud enough and long enough I can blame someone else for my mistakes and get them to fix it for me”.
People complain because this is NOT a gambling game and you shouldn’t be able to spend hundreds of dollars and get nothing in return. It’s not normal for a video game.
If GW2 is a gambling game, shouldn’t Anet have a gambling license or something?
