Release time Halloween ?
id actually like to know this aswell
I think like the other updates.
Because me and my guild are planning to farm/rush the new content when its going online so we planned already with 40 people to be online tomorrow at 9AM CET
I’m curious about it too.
What time does the weekly updates occur? (+gmt too)
still nothing about the update yet will it be late ?
will it be 3 am Monday or 3 am Tuesday? I hope not 3 am Tuesday! :P
I bet mid-day Monday, to stagger the server load since various people around the world will be working/schooling/sleeping.
They’ll learn one day…but until then:

This will never happen mid-day just because of how software release cycles generally work. My speculations for release are:
- 23:59PM PST Sunday
- Sometime past midnight Monday (~1AM)
- Early morning Monday
- Sometime late evening Monday but unlikely because for some it will already be Tuesday
So the first two are highly likely scenarios knowing of their previous patching experiences, though because this is the first major content patch – who knows.
Well, given that most patches take place sometime around now (midnight PDT) I’m guessing it should be soon TM, but you can never tell when last minute delays may pop up.

Thank you for pointing out that A-Net works off the Pacific US time zone. For those who are unaware of why. A-Net’s main offices are on the west coast. And as such, Any US server is based off that time (From what I know, and this has been as such throughout my experience on GW2)
So, As it is 11:50 Pacific/Server (At the time of me writing this) time, If the patch is at/or around midnight, We should see some results in less than 10 minutes or so. AGAIN, Assuming that it is taking place at ~ Midnight Server time
profiled as I too would like to know
can’t believe we’re speculating about when events will happen :|
i can actually answer this for you….
“It is release when it’s ready.” =) remember THAT before they officially stated when they were going to release gw2?!!

LMFAO – dont know how ive never seen this. so funny
Patch should be very soon, otherwise they will miss kicking Oceanics off in the middle of primetime.
I really hope it starts soon! Today’s my day off and the anticipation is killing me
im hoping for 3am patch, makes sense, “witching hour” and stuff
I wonder about this too…. i haven’t played GW since almost 2 weeks now because of a bit of burnout…. but i want to check in for Halloween…
Think those who have today off are going to be disappointed. ANet let us all know exactly when game launched. Bar their 4 hour prewindow we all knew the start time. This patch we have a 24 hour slot of uncertainty
Been waiting up for this. But seems I should just go to bed.
But I am kind of concerned that it may be late today (22nd) if we even see it today. On page about event, for the Black Lion boxes:
“The Black Lion Chest is getting a spooky upgrade for Halloween. Between October 23 and November 5 each Black Lion Chest you open has a chance to give you one of six exclusive Halloween-themed weapon skins!”
So there will definitely be a patch tonight/tomorrow (23rd) for at least some of this. Though I highly doubt Anet would splatter the wrong date all over the event page, and then have this date there.
Just want clarification if the events are going live globally (which means US time) or regionally. The reason why this matters is that the time differences mean parts of Europe will not see the event for Halloween until the 1st which would be a real shame and disappointment.
Some form of clarification would be nice before ppl get excited about a series of events that will, in fact, culminate AFTER Halloween.
Ok well i was checking my emails and i came across a mail from Anet which lists the 23rd as the start date? What gives? Like seriously it’s time big companies gave a solid time for their patches or events. They know everyone is waiting and getting excited and staying up for it, yet they leave everyone hanging. Sort it out guys, just tell us when. It’s not hard.. At least say it WON’T come before this time..
So I’m still confused how late will be release in UK time?
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
You must’ve not been paying attention. Halloween starts today and ends on the 31st.
Due to time zone differences it probably ends in Europe very early in the morning of the first.
You’ll have more than a week to play through the halloween content, and if there’s some sort of ending like the GW1 events used to have, they will probably run for a day or two every few hours.
So im in Poland, and it’s 12:30 of 22nd October, Monday. No patch, no halloween.
I can understand that patch may come live in a few hours, but if it’s gonna go live on Tuesday im gonna be a bit sad.

I got that email too but a hour after that i got a fixed email saying the 22nd
I Have been paying attention. It states that the final stage of the event starts on the 31st. Please don’t accuse ppl of not paying attention unless you have the facts. Perhaps I should have been clearer in that it is the final stage the actual Halloween stage and not the build up stages I am asking about
Some clarification is needed here as if the event stages are run off of US time we may not see the final stage until after halloween here in Europe
A release time would be rather nice, but I don’t generally expect them..As an Australian, I generally assume non-released patch times are in the mid to late afternoon, American time, thus early morning the next day, here.
Simply assume a later time, and you’ll never be let down.
I just checked both emails I received from GW2 about the Halloween event and it says this in the first email..
“From 23 October until 2 November (European dates), Halloween goes off the rails, and you’re exactly the right person to fix it.”
This is from the second email..
“From October 22, 2012 until November 1, 2012, Halloween goes off the rails, and you’re exactly the right person to fix it.”
So for us Europeans, we won’t be getting it until tomorrow anyway. As for the actual time the patch will be released, I have no idea. Whilst I have little to pick at with GW2, a clearer estimated release time would be appreciated.

Your not wrong, but it would be nice to have an estimated time-space in which the update should be released.

I suspected at first that they just mistyped the date and sent the second email because of that… but if it really says (European dates) then maybe we will really only get it on the 23rd…

I agree, but as anyone who has worked in this sort of industry knows, things go wrong, often, and giving yourself an undisclosed amount of time to fix them usually saves your sanity and job.

Ahh the classic European customers are less important scam, well thanks for the info

My guess, based on these e-mails, is that the event will start at 5 PST/8 EST when the dailies usually reset, then. That would put it at midnight or later in Europe, which would explain the different dates.
So your saying the events starts when?

Print-screened and cropped the email for ya Shame they didn’t make this information clearer.
At the earliest?
I’d say when Arenanet actually opens, in the morning.
Well from what Gina has shown it looks like we can expect the final stage of Halloween the day after Halloween. Charming. It also sets the trend, meaning all Holiday events will be a day late for Europe etc.
Not that surprising but lets face it, it sucks
What is the point of Holiday events if they are going to be at their peak after the event in the majority of the world?

I’m on holiday the last weekend and week after so I miss it anyway
Your own argument can be used against you, Jenks..What’s the point of Holiday events if they end the day before the Holiday in the place the game is actually made? Personally, I’d suggest they start the last phase on the 30th, and end it on the first, that way the events are ‘timed’ for every time zone..But also gives twice as long for people to get things.
Unfortunately Arenanet is an American Company, and thus they’ll set their dates by their own calendar. This has always been the way of game companies, so it shouldn’t come as a great surprise. Disappointing, perhaps, but since the calendar ticks over before 12am on the first, you can still do the event during Halloween itself, since the stage changes will likely be automated.
I am not suggesting they start the event a day early in America just that they should, as you said make the final stage two days long or release the events Regionally. Many games have used the Regional management model or two day stages
how long for the patch its 13:12 here in israel !!
Guild Wars events allways been start at 21h GMT +1.
I hope it will be same as in GW1 or it will be tomorow at 9h GMT +1.
We can just wait
But for some reason i can bet it will be tonight cause Europe. <3
Funny thing is I’ve been awake during nights and mostly slept during days for quite a time now, and now that I’m actually awake during the day this happens.
I did expect it though.
I got two e-mails from Arenanet, one from their US section and one from UK.
One of them said October 22 and the other said October 23, soooo yeah.
It will start everywhere at the same time. No exact time has been given.
That’s all I can add to the conversation, this was the only dev post on this topic.
