and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.”

Hey guys,
Just wanted to clear this up. I keep seeing tons and tons of threads talking about the one time event being the finale. This is NOT the finale. In my opinion, it’s going to be some 5-10min cut scene type of thing showing the fountain in LA finally busting open. It’s not going to have rewards or anything of the sort and it’s going to be one of those “Well that was cool, but no big deal if I would have missed it” type of events. If it turns out to be something more than this, feel free to resume the complaint threads. Until then, relax, enjoy and remember to breathe.

It is the finale.
ANet said they moved it to today because it was the day and time period that had the highest number of players playing the game at the same time. It was initially on the 31st, but people complained about it being in the middle of the work week, causing them to reconsider and move it to today.
1. you can only know what it is when it’s over.
2. At that point the people who don’t want to miss it, would have missed it…
3. But you want people to stop complaining about possibly missing it… till we know what it is?
1 2 3 does not compute very well for me.
Relaxing is awlays a good thing, but I can’t follow your reasoning, or how this post would help anyone who doesn’t want to miss the event.
Finale or not, it’s a timed event that people could miss.
Silly post is silly,
paraphrase, “don’t worry about it till it’s over and you have no chance to see it…”
Wut?

Then why would the keep calling it a one time only special event instead of saying the Finale. That doesn’t make sense…. It’s not the finale, the finale is most likely going to be repeatable on the 31st.
“DO NOT MISS Act 3 of Shadow of the Mad King which kicks off at the lion statue in Lion’s Arch at noon Pacific (12:00 PM Pacific Time/19:00 GMT) on Sunday, Oct 28 with a very special, one-time only surprise!”
It’s the beginning of Act III… Not the finale…

and that makes it something people wouldn’t mind missing, even if your reasoning was correct?
They announced it as Act 3 of 4, so it can’t be the finale, unless they chopped something off.
Guys, this was already cleared up if you have been paying attention. A tweet was posted that said they moved the finale to the 28th however a dev posted on the forum thread that was talking about how its not fair if its the finale correcting that the tweet was a mistake, it IS NOT the finale but a special one time event.
I’ll be editing my original post to exclude the “until we know what it is”. That part was just frustration but the rest of my post still stands.
The very reason why they do it on one set moment, is because they find it this awesome that people would want to experience it instead of seeing it on Youtube first.
That is the whole reasoning for doing it at the same time in all timezones together.
But because it’s not ‘the finale’ suddenly it’s something people shouldn’t complain about missing?
While the dev’s just do all of this because it IS something you don’t want to miss…
Takatsu is right no loot no achieves tied to the event just something worth watching as the transitions to act 3

Perhaps not, but it makes it something that is not the end of the world. It’s most likely something that alters the complete look of LA and would just be silly repeating… I honestly think it’s a short 5min thing that people are just blowing out or proportion.
Well, honestly, nothing in the whole game is the “end of the world” but I can see where some people are miffed that it’s one time and they won’t experience it.
So telling them “don’t worry” doesn’t really help.
We won’t know one way or the other if it’s not that big a deal, until it happens. Anet seems to think it something important not to spoil, but okay to watch on Youtube, which frankly confuses me, since it seems a contradiction. Personally, I’m hoping it IS something fairly minor, so my guildies don’t miss out.

We’ve made an update to our newest patch notes–the finale is October 28th, not the 31st: http://ow.ly/eHUxJ ~RB2
If the debvs do something as drastic as making it a one time event for ALL timezones to share, than it must be something they consider pretty darn awesome to see.
In terms of enjoying this game and the event, it sounds like the end of the world to miss it.
You might be right that it might be blown out of proportion, but it’s the dev’s themselves that are doing the blowing here.
All the players are doing is believing it’s going to be as awesome as the devs claim, so they don’t want to miss it.
(I have my reserves, but I always do when things get announced very big, especially in this game. But you can’t take my cynical critical self as a general measure for other players)

Did you read this thread at all?

The tweet was a mistake on their part and they clarified it here on the forums.

I’m not saying I completely agree with how they are handling things, I’m just getting tired of the kittening. I know that I have a few Asian games I play and I’m normally S.O.L when it comes to events that happen, because it is during THEIR play times. It happens. Of course Anet is going to promote the event… they want people to go to it. I just don’t think it’s the end all everyone is making it out to be.
The whole point of this thread was also to clear up the misconception that this is the finale, which I’ve been seeing in post after post after post and it’s simply not true.
It’s not the finale, it’s the climax. It’s the big event that leads into the finale, probably launching a big repeatable boss fight or other events that we’ll be doing for the next few days.

one thing is to say it’s not the finale.
But you clearly stated that because it wasn’t the finale… people shouldn’t get upset about missing it. Which is besides the point, since the dev’s make it out as something you wouldn’t want to miss, or even see later on Yuotube. It’s something you HAVE TO be there.
If you didn’t mean to write this in your original post, than don’t write it.
Your post wasn’t : hey, it’s not the finale.

Actually what I didn’t mean to write in my post was to wait to see what it was before resuming complaining… not that people need to stop kittening. Which I still stand by…. Lot’s of kittening isn’t going to do anything to help except aggravate others. I still don’t think it’s going to be that big of a deal honestly. People are getting all out of whack over pixels. I’ll tell you what, I even understand when people complained about the BLC because a lot spent real money on it. This is totally different and doesn’t effect yourself or your wallet for anything.
Like I said, this is most likely going to be something that would be ridiculous to try repeating and so they went with the next best thing which happened to be choosing a date and time when there were the most concurrent players on.
Thank you mod who took all the caps off my title :P

I might not completely agree on what you say here, but I find it much more reasonable than your original post.
I don’t see the need of reacting against your statements now, not anymore.
That a mod removed the caps is nicer too

Yeah I agree…. I’m not normally one to cap like that. Just frustration bubbling to the top. And same to you, I might not agree, but I do see where you’re coming from.
In any case I hope that the event is something really unimportant/fluffy so even the people who missed it will feel ok.
Hope you have a good day Kimbald
