Lots of white hair everywhere
I think part of it is that white hair goes well with anything, Makeover kits aren’t TOO expensive, but if you like to change your color scheme a lot, it can feel like you’re locked into a certain set of colors. Black is also the same, but it doesn’t really have as much depth to it.
Also, for humans, most of the hair colors are actually normal IRL. White is one of the more fantastical colors, so I can see why some might like it.
Lol I always assume when I see a white haired human female that she is played by a teen-aged male.
Sorry!
My female human has dark red hair. :P
All I can say is the female necro from GW1 art has white hair and still looks awesome. I would guess she had an impact.

Sorry!
This is probably a pretty safe assumption.
My human female has dark brown hair!
Like every faulty thing in MMOs like GW2, it’s probably due to the anime influence, which is the worse thing that can happen to a game.
That being said, I have a human necro with wite hair, but that’s mainly due to the fact that he’s been made to look old and sick.
I can name 3.
1. Inuyasha series
2. Emo girls look. (the ones that go bright blonde)
3. Luna Lovegood
Lv80s: Guard, Thief, Necro. Renewed my Altaholic’s card on the HoT Hype-Train. Choo choo~
All my characters have the white-blonde hair because it makes them more pretty
mine has light blue >>
WTB regular blue hair
All my chars have different hair, one white, or gray or silver. Whatever. Primary is black haired though. Best choice personally.
Well I have 5 characters so far
My Norn Guardian, Human Elementalist and Human Ranger are all blondes. Of the real light blond variety.
My Human Engineer has pink colored hair. Even though it’s listed as blond.
My Sylvari Mesmer is all blue.
All of my 14 characters got very light blond hair.
7 Human females
7 Norn females
My human male has had white hair since the start Everyone else is either blond, pink haired or a red head.
The human gods left and they took their hair color with them.
When you cycle through the premade human characters when choosing your class, the thief is the only one that doesn’t look kitten And by coincidence, she has white hair (not light blue stark white, but platinum sandy white).
My female ranger has dark gray hair.
My main, a female human guardian, has white hair. The first character I made in WoW, a human female mage that I played for 5 years also had white hair. I just think it’s different and looks cool. I wish you could have enhancements like a white lock in dark or red hair, like Rogue in X-men did.
It’s an anime thing, I think.
Yeah, it might be an anime thing. Also, Daenerys. It can look quite good…
And I actually think it makes a character look more like jailbait if anything. Certainly not less…
Daenerys is cool, but I have to think it’s primarily the Sephiroth/anime thing.
The only white-haired character I have is my Norn Necromancer.
Why?
Because Diablo II, that’s why!
Do you even lift, bro?
Easy answers…
I have white hair, so my male Human character has white hair.
My wife has dark brown/red hair, so my female Norn has the same colour hair.
Gyr Wolfchild: Norn Ranger lv71
Fenris Wolfchild: Human Thief lv80
There’s lots of npcs with white hair too…supposedly they’re old, yet their skin is still flawless…the only old lady in Tyria I know of is handing out creepy food as a skill challenge…
I changed my white hair warrior character into a warrior female doll kitten kitten figure. It’s doesn’t have white hair but it is kitten for 1st and her rival in terms of manga. Mention you, the orginal warrior doll is superiors over charr zerg leader in terms of all stats.

“White hair” popularity isn’t just in GW, this is pretty much in every MMO I’ve every played.
Females with “white” hair look like they have platinum blonde hair. I’m a girl, this is my opinion at least – platinum hair is popular IRL and in game. It just makes you all glowy and pretty. I’ve always been drawn to white hair on my char just as it makes her look prettier. No real reason behind it, definitely not to make my char look “older”. That would be weird.
No white hair here, red. I think white hair looks cool, but not when the majority have it, then you look like a clone.
I feel like I’m the only one using brown/red hair color.

^ This. My character is always blue and white, tradition from different mmos. I couldn’t have the blue I wanted, but I could have white. Picked white.
All of my 14 characters got very light blond hair.
7 Human females
7 Norn females
I see what you did there.
Saladtha (Lv 80 salad sidekick to bears) | Dunelle (Lv 80 eviscerating muppet)
Karmell (Lv 80 human might dispenser) | Vast says hi~.
rolled a female human ele on day 1 of release. White hair. I’m sad to see it too.
I feel like that guy who came home from WW2 with a tribal band tatoo, he must have been kitten when the ’90’s came around and every college frat kid in the country had one.
my toon has white hair cuz he’s like 109 he is from the stone age compare to your guy’s toons!
My human female has platinum blonde hair, because I have it myself, and I also think it looks good My male human has pure white hair because I thought it looked good with the hairstyle :p I was torn between red, black, and pure white.
-Grunt
2 of my girls have withe hair because i like it . I see normal hair all the time, so something unusual was nice .)
my human female has pure black hair, i’d like to use some of my armor dyes for her hair though
It’s because white hair is the most unnatural natural color. Therefore it is more attractive yet realistic at the same time.
Dark red hair is my favourite, mmmm

I’ve had white hair on some of my characters in many games, and I really don’t like anime so that’s not why I’ve done it. (I’m also a girl, if that matters) Why I’ve done it is a couple reasons already mentioned, it goes with everything, and it makes you stand out a bit. Black is another popular hair color for me since it goes with everything again but is less noticeable. I occasionally make redheads also, (not the fakey red but in the more realistic tones.) but brunette and blonde I pretty much never touch.
Yeah, it might be an anime thing. Also, Daenerys. It can look quite good…
Yeah! They are all Targaryen, that’s why
I always thought it was a lady gaga thing.
There are several reasons. One is it is the default hair color of Guardians – one of the most common human classes, and what most people associate with Guardians. The other reason is how prevalent it is in stories for mysterious or magic based characters. White hair on a young person has always been a tool to hint that a person is beautiful, but has knowledge beyond their years. People have already listed about a dozen – I modeled one after a Targaryen, which means white hair and violet eyes.
I personally would like to see a lot more options added, including odd or playful options. We have hundreds of dyes, but humans don’t dye their hair?
Well my guardian has white hair mostly cause i feel that guardians are more in tune with their faith and it just seems like exposure to that many blue sparkle-beams would have some effect on hair colour…
I have a norn with the platinum hair pick (the one I’m assuming everyone thinks is white) because its a cultural colour. It kinda makes sense.

I chose the white hair 7 1/2 years ago, when I created my first character that stuck in GW1. I wanted a contrast between skin colour and hair colour. And as I wanted a darker skin colour, the lighter hair colour was only natural. And in GW2, I wanted to recreate the character as much as possible, so I again picked a darker skin colour and a white hair colour.
The main reason I picked white hair again was because my GW1 character also had white hair which back then wasn’t overly popular and I wanted to keep with the theme. It also suits my Guardian with his holy knight style.
“Jim’ll Fix It and if he doesn’t it’s not broken”
My female human has dark red hair. :P
Mine does too, simply because it seems to fit a mesmer.
I’ve never really liked white hair on humans. Seems very out of place.
I mean, you’re free to do what you want, and I won’t be bothered by it ingame, but the concept of it just annoys me, especially when paired with a fifteen-year-old face. :V
My female human has dark red hair. :P
Mine does too, simply because it seems to fit a mesmer.
For me the choice was actually done for roleplaying reasons. My Mesmer is the great-granddaughter of my Warrior from GW1 (who can be imagined as a red-haired Conan. XD), and she inherited her great-grandfather’s hair colour.
I know I made my female guardian have white hair because I thought it matches the cool look of a guardian, if that makes sense… May change it soon though
Mine just has blonde hair. As a necro, I thought it would be fun to make her look as un-menacing as possible.
I’m almost proud to say that I have no characters with white hair. For me it always seems a bit unnatural, and not on the good way.

Theory : When you buy a make-over kit, 80% of what you pay is invested in hair-bleach. Therefore, to make the most of it, players revamp their hair color to white.
Theory : Most players intend to make their character die of cancer when guildwars 3 comes around.
Theory: Most characters are above 70 years of age, but benefits from highly successful facial and epidermal surgery.
Theory: Most player, being the 1/8 of males who appends to be color-blind, are afraid of miss-matching colors later down the line and give their characters neutral colors to avoid this issue.
Personnally, I fit the bill for the last one, but I happen to have a non-color-blind friend to make my characters for me. That being said, characters I have personnally created are black-haired or bald which are also valid alternatives.
I enjoy less conventional hair and skin colors. It makes things look more unique. Unfortunately, humans (and by extension, norn, who are really just big humans) don’t have that luxury in this fantasy game. The option for white hair is the most unique option humans get. White hair looks different enough, is a neutral and matches well with most armor colors.
Though I have three humans, one has white, another black and another brown.
