Live the dream!
7/10 for Dustit…nice name if he specializes in air magic, but I like the surname idea.
My main is a carry-over from my GW1 days, his name is Jakob Omnibus.
He’s a guardian, (formerly fighter/monk) and his name is a mixture of German and Latin which loosely translates to “to take the place of another for all things.” I thought it was fitting to carry over the concept and the name.
9/10 I like the realism in the name. I can imagine meeting a guy with that name rather than working out which game/anime/movie etc it has influence from.
My Human female elementalist is Kimberly Silva. I wanted a European name so I did a bit of research and I found out Silva is from the Latin language meaning plantation, bush, forest etc. Which I felt was appropriate as she was “raised by commoners” as the game puts it. Which made me imagine her working on a farm and doing other jobs of that type.
It’s also fairly common in Portugal as well apparently.

All my girls ( 6 ) wear names that i use in another Mmos and since SWTOR i choosed to go with a legacy last name. Its easy to keep track of a player if he ( she in my case ) has something to make him (she) recognizable.
Marika Haliwell, ( my main ) Magicka, Sandybelle, Angelique, Fleur, Indira.
10/10 for Kimberly . You did research to know what your last name means
6/10, 4/10, 5/10, 7/10, 7/10, 7/10.
They’re all rather unique, I must say.
My humans all have the same last name. My warrior main is Cassius Praevalidus.
6.5/10 . Cassius sounds nice, especially for rather Elona-oriented character, Praevalidus…It’s ok, but doesn’t fit the first name. My warrior’s name is Rosenheart, “Act with your mind and your heart, not only with strenght. It can lead you beyond 100b frenzylolzerg” – His teacher, Firnomir, Canthian warrior who was using HB in GW1
[SALT]Natchniony – Necromancer, EU.
Streams: http://www.twitch.tv/rym144
Rosenheart – 6/10. Not a name in the sense of having a first and second name, but it sounds to me like some sort of nickname. Like Rosenheart says something about your character’s personality
Mine is Keerth Of Illyrium
7/10 – I really think that the name Keerth is very unique and original but I’m not sure about ‘of Illyrium’ doesn’t seem like a place of Tyria to me.
Mine is a Female Elementist, Laeila Lilths
Name: Laeila Lilths Race: Human
Profession: Elementist
7/10 – it’s a very original name, however it doesn’t read/pronounce easily imo.
My human male thief is named Jiraa.
The mysteries dissapear and life stands explained.”
7/10 it’s alright, kinda bland IMO though
My human engineer, Vöz, was born in the slums of Ascalon. Working his way up in the fields of bacon engineering, he created what we know today as bacon.?.. His name means bacon in my made up language
YOUTUBE.COM/VOZTACTICS
I named my male Guardian Seth Ifrikka. Seemed reasonable at the time.
Nice, a solid 7, only thing is Ifrikka sounds a bit more exotic than Seth but I like the originality.
I named my female mesmer Mierin Eronaile
Not very original, but bonus points for anyone getting the wheel of time reference.
9/10 flows really well!
Vöz is my engis name. (person never voted on mine)
YOUTUBE.COM/VOZTACTICS
7.5 – 9/10, simple and is visually aesthetically pleasing. I would give just you a 9, but I’m not positive on how to pronounce it because of the umlaut… oops.
The 7.5 is a lower bound based on my least favorite possible pronunciation I could think of (“Vooz”), 9 would be the best (“Vahz”).
My character’s a thief named Dorven Rakthol. I believe it came from the name generator in Knights of the Old Republic, but I changed something, forgot the name, and then changed what I thought I remembered…or something.
8/10! Seems to fit an assassin from the East or something… I would love it if you provided a backstory of the character
My character is named Glassheart. More of an alias than a name really.
An assassin with no feelings for the victim(yes I am an assassin built thief)
Recently I heard that there is an anime using that name for an assassin xD!
Aurora Glade server
8/10 good name it goes well with the backstory.
My characters are Darcia the Third a mesmer and Quent Yaiden an engineer.
10/10 on originality, and makes me wonder who Darcia the 1st and 2nd were
Male Warrior: Drakkan Powerblade
Male Guardian: Drakkan Oathsworn
Male Thief: Drakkan Shadowhunt
Male Ranger: Drakkan Swiftarrow
Male Engineer: Drakkan Killtactic
Male Mesmer: Drakkan Fatalguise
Male Necro: Drakkan Soulrender
Male Elemen: Drakkan Manastorm
You probably think my names are all alike and unoriginal, but let me explain. Drakkan is a hero who I play as on every game. It’s the same character, regardless of the game I’m playing. I follow him around on his quests to slay beasts in many different lands. He takes on various aliases to keep his myserious identity contained, and possesses and harnesses many different vessels to do his bidding.
Without being TL:DR, Drakkan is a powerful soul who’s true form is unknown, who dominates and gains control of the body’s of those who have the highest potential to fulfill his endeavours.
(edited by Drakkan.7314)
Drakkan, I use the same name across all games as well and I like the back story. 7/10 the best for me would be Oathsworn for your gaurdian.
Treakin Mephaestus, gaurdian. (pronounced tree-akkin)
3/10. It’s a more Sylvari sounding name through and through. Points for creativity, but it really does have the mix of things I’d expect from a Sylvari (Though the last name sounding like a greek god, soul calibur and history failure, and humans and their own gods and such make me a little biased)
Liliana Monteclaire – Female Mesmer, Noble.
9/10 for Lilliana Monteclair, it sounds like a well-fitting name for a noble human, especially the last name. My commoner female thief’s name is Ailaena, not really sure where I came up with that, but I feel kind of stupid for not making a last name after reading some of the other names in the thread >.<
8/10 it certainly does have that human fantasy feel however being of french decent Monteclair is a fairly common name I see. As for Aileana 9/10 depending on multiple factors, could be your character does not know their family lineage or could’ve disowned their family and refuses to be acknowledged by it.
I would like input on both my human names
Guardian – Olrick Lightlance
Thief – Anton the Talon
Olrick Lightlance is a character I try to keep in most roleplay games and Anton the Talon is a reference to both my name (Antoni) and the name I go by from other MMOs (Talon) I thought it was a clever mixture as well as being a more unique way to adapt names
10/10 great names! i feel like Olrick is more of a dwarven name though. Talon is great for a thief. nice use of your real name. it fits.
I named my human thief Shikara Lockheart because I was thinking of Amelia Earhart at the time, not sure why i made the twist on the last name, and I was thinking of Shakira, but played with it and liked Shikara more. Also a guardian named Thoren Oakenshield, obviously from The Hobbit. And an elementalist named Niënor Finduilas , a combination of a human character’s first name and the first name of an elf lord from the book The Children of Hurin.
(edited by blakkrskyrr.7413)
7.5/10 on Ailaena, original but I’m not sure on the pronunciation and the spelling just kind of scares me.
Oof, two others posted rating the same name as I did at the same time. So, Olrick Lightlance gets a 9/10, cool name. Anton the Talon also gets a 9. Both are original and rather solid names.
Shikara gets an 8, Thoren gets a 10 (totally not biased at all by the reference…), Niënor gets a 9. Original names and they look/sound cool and both parts work well together.
My thief is named Luis Forthwind, and my warrior is Ascalonian Fighter. I absolutely needed one not-so-serious character name after all.
(edited by Shardain.6947)
Ascalonian Fighter…when did you make that name? I’m surprised it wasn’t taken. it’s perfect haha. If only you could get the ghastly effect of them all the time haha
@Shardain:
9/10 for your thief.. I love the idea of a surname being a descriptive, rather than just, well, a surname. 10/10 for your silly warrior! Just because it made me smile.
Alright, I’ve got 3 humans:
Mesmer Noble named Saravati
Thief Commoner named Levi Halleck
Ranger Streetrat named Lara Waters
Rule of Wrist [Row] — Order of the Bee [BEES]
Lara Waters = 9/10
I like the simplicity of the name. I wonder what she waters? Mouths with her looks?
Levi Halleck = 7/10
Reminds me of Joe Hallenbeck. You’d get a higher ranking if you could prove that there is an actual relation.
Saravati = 7/10
It rhymes to many things.
“I Hate Manure”
is the name of my sylvari thieving boy
“Dirty Harry Goox”
is the name of my human engineer
3/10. Lots of places to dock points. Goox being the main one XD.
Liliana Monteclaire again (And to the person who docked points for it being common in french, I was aware of that when I used the name XD)
I’d say an 8/10. It’s not bad, and I don’t see many French names on my server.
I have two humans, male and female. The female is a mesmer named Mira Wampflen, and the male is a thief known as Gann Ramses.
8/10 I really like the name Mira but Wampflen is odd to me and does not flow.
I play a mesmer Arica Vaughn. Human with the rich story
8/10, really fit for human noble storyline, and very original too <3
i have a human male Guardian named Stardust Crusader;
and a human female Warrior named Abyss Crusader.
6/10 Stardust… love the Movie by the same name
6/10 Abyss… just like the word :-)
Thief – Daemonne Taltos
Necro – Daemirian Ekieron
Daemonne and Daemirian are my usual names with Tharsis (origional) and Taltos (taken from my favorite assassin Lord Vladimir Taltos from the Jhereg books by Steven Brust)
eKieron is also from same books.
Daemirian would be better with Taltos. Just saying. It’d be 8/10 then-7/10 this way.
Daemonne I am not the fan of. Unfortunately 5/10.
Now get ready for awesome names(:D):
Fernand Dieudonne-male Human Guardian.
Ken Riles-male Human Thief
I am not using the following names so PLEASE do not use them! Thank You!
Vironious Scepsi-rather monastic name eh? Fit for Offensive Guardian(Zealotry et al) or for Necro.
Knight Rafael Baldomar-human Noble name. Fit for any kind of Knight…
(edited by Gorwe.9672)
9/10 Fernand Dieudonne – Original and noble sounding name and fits with a guardian, also sounds quite medieval/exotic almost.
7/10 Ken Riles – Somewhat simple, though I suppose for a thief that makes sense.
7/10 Vironious Scepsi – Bit complicated, doesn’t quite roll off the tongue.
8/10 Knight Rafael Baldomar – Similar to Fernand; original, noble and memorable, not sure about the ‘Knight’ part though. Maybe ‘Sir’ instead?
Now for my own names:
Hoko Shen, Guardian – Being Chinese myself, I wanted to create an oriental character, which fits with the lore as well (Canthans). I haven’t seen many Chinese characters around either. ‘Shen’ is a somewhat uncommon Chinese surname, and can mean ‘spiritual’, which I thought fit with the whole theme of the guardian. ‘Hoko’ is an anagram of my own surname (Khoo).
Identity Mirage, Mesmer – Being a mesmer, the idea was that he was so illusive that no one knows his actual name, to the extent that even he isn’t sure he remembers it anymore, so he simply goes by that nickname.
(edited by Eduku.4958)
10/10 I think. I love oriental names, so I’m a bit biased. I like that it fits with the lore and that you put a lot of thought into it.
Guinevere Morgan. I chose Guinevere because it’s the name of King Arthur(Of the round table)‘s wife. It’s a fun sounding, sophisticated name. Morgan is a contrasting name, almost plain sounding compared the the first name, which I like.
8 I like the description you gave of it. It certainly matches.
Human Thief- ConcernedPlum
8/10 because I laughed.
Female thief named: Declined
5/10, I honestly don’t know what to think about it :P.
Female elementalist: Catherine Fireborn
And since I happened to upload a pic of her before on this forum: https://dviw3bl0enbyw.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/34713/gw218.jpg
8/10 I like it! Has a very nice Elementalist feel to it!
My Mesmer’s name is Nyx Sforza. Don’t really have a background story to it. Just really liked the name and felt right for a Mesmer
Nyx, Greek primordial of night, good choice.
Female Necro Mercel Shaw
8/10 Has a nice ring to it and fits a necro.
My female ele: Fiora Sans, she’s a noble and quite charming read head.
edit: You missed like 2 pages Swimsasa
(edited by Soulmyr.8094)
Why mako?; I like scarlet though 7/10
My name is Swimsasa Stoon its a name I came up with for a pokemon I designed back in elementary school some 10 years ago. It was a swimming venusaur with a campfire on its back instead of a flower. AKA master of elements and since I play D/D elementalist I thought it to be appropriate even if it sounds odd.
8/10. Gives me the chance to call you by a short name and the first name is kinda fun.
My main is Raine Avina. She’s one of the main characters in a game I’m creating.
Message me any time in game.
8/10 for Fiora Sans (as Swimsasa missed it) – Simple, yet unique first name fitting for a noble with a monosyllabic last name to complement it. My only question is how ‘Sans’ would be pronounced – would it be like the word in French?
5/10 for Swimsasa Stoon – As unique as it is, I don’t really like the sound of it when I say it in my head. Despite this – I like the double S in the name.
My Human Female Mesmer’s name:
Estella Nightingale
The Luminiferous Constellation [Lumi]
Kaineng
8/10 for Fiora Sans (as Swimsasa missed it) – Simple, yet unique first name fitting for a noble with a monosyllabic last name to complement it. My only question is how ‘Sans’ would be pronounced – would it be like the word in French?
5/10 for Swimsasa Stoon – As unique as it is, I don’t really like the sound of it when I say it in my head. Despite this – I like the double S in the name.
My Human Female Mesmer’s name:
Estella Nightingale
I’m not a fan of the name Stella, so Estella doesn’t really do it for me either. I also don’t usually like last names. 5/10
My characters name is Ashanor. I made up the name back in 2001 when I played DAoC.
(edited by Ashanor.5319)
As for above I like it 7/10.
Thief: Assassins Cried ~ It’s a major twist on the Assassins Creed game.
Mesmer: Oh Mesmer Why So OP ~ No reason
Ranger: Purr Like A Kitten ~ My cat was near me and purred lol
Guardian: Aye Gurl ~ Was going to drag on the “gurl” But though nope.
Ele: Awhe ~ It’s a noise I used to make it’s not like Aww or owwie, can’t explain it.
Engineer: Cute But Deadly ~ Used to be an Asura but I hate them now.
Warrior: I Heart Hello Kitty ~ xD
Necro: Saalv ~ Much like Ele has no real reason besides real life.
(edited by Millionaires.4201)
I see what you did there hehehee 8/10
-all of them are funny in my opinion. Idk if that’s what you were going for…
Well my humans name is Andréa Dior and she’s a Mesmer
Any relations to Christian? Well, Andrea Dior = 8/10
Human Guardian called = The Beer Taster
gonna have to give that one a 2/10 since I prefer actual names for my characters and not title-like names.
Gotta give zallis an 8, sounds good and original. Bonus points to you if you chose the “street rat” storyline!
I have two chars right now: Malach Galthena (Elementalist), Jericho Durai (Necro)
Both are a tribute to FFT, my all time favorite game
I had to give a shout out to this too, especially because FFT is still my favorite game after all these years (part of my user name is named after Beowulf from that game, and once I get another char slot, my Thief is going to be named Celia Cadmus after one of the assassins in the game)
I have a Human Guardian named Rina Selania, she is the great-great granddaughter of my monk by the same name in GW1. Her family had fallen on hard times in the 250 years since GW1 and they no longer are known as well as they once were. Most of her grandmother’s wealth and possessions were lost after the halls of The Sons of Tanith were flooded with the rest of the Battle Isles, and Rina is dedicated to following her ancestor’s footsteps to bring honor back to her family and to provide for her parents while her elder sister enlisted in the Seraph.
“And also… I can kill you with my brain.”
~River Tam~
9/10 on Rina Selania. Mostly for the the thaught going into the name and the back story.
I just started a human mesmer and eventually came up with the name ‘Lokilich’.
The name is made up of ‘Loki’ – the ‘tricster god’ and ‘Lich’ which I really should have spelled ‘Lych’ – either way the pronounciation is not ‘lit ch’ but ‘like’ – as in ‘lych gate’ or ‘lych’ being a corpse (yes I maybe should have used a necro with the name but I do not like using necro). Also, the name ‘Lokilich’ has, to some extent, a ring of ‘look-a-like’ and I feel this is appropriate for a mesmer due to clones etc.
6/10 for Lokilich. It gets extra points for thematic intent but I don’t much care for the aesthetic of the letter combination.
My mesmer is named Burnoose, which is a type of cape… Allow me to explain.
Burnoose is a man who was set up to be a priest of Dwayna having been blessed by her at an early age, but never managed it because he felt he could be of more use using his abilities in a more proactive manner out in the world.
The nickname Burnoose was given to him while training for his priestly duties because he was never seen without his distinct and unfashionable cape. He decided to keep the handle and introduces himself as such because, being both a mesmer and a priest, he knows the power of a persons’ real name and while possibly a touch paranoid, finds that extra measure of security reassuring while partaking in his world saving activities.
