Rate the Humans name above you
7/10 for Arahborn sounding too much like Aragorn :p
My Guardian’s name is Ormindo Finth. Good lord, this name is nearly 6 years old. And “Ormindo” is almost 8 years old. It was just a kid’s blabbering, a random sound. I kept it, and added “Finth” (started something around “faith” as it was for a Paladin at first). I learned only recently that “Ormindo” was the name of an opera (lol).
This name was first used for an Archer, but as soon as I discovered what a Paladin was, it would never change : Paladins, Captains, Guardians…
(edited by Tysefol.2017)
4/10 for Ormindo Finth. I think it’s better as Finth Ormindo, I’d give that a 7, has a better flow.
My Mesmer’s Name is…
Miranda Adnarim
Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest? (Do you see it?)
Norn Guardian – Aurora Lustyr (Lv 80)
Mia A Shadows Glow – Human Thief (Lv 80)
8/10, I like the way that flows and Miranda has always been a name I like.
My male is Aerin Stormborn. My name is Aaron, it’s just a different, less obvious way to spell it.
what we become later only depends
on how hard we try and how good we want to become.” -HannaDeFreitas
Aerin Stormborn = Somehow I had to look at it a third time to spell it properly…
and I thought I can read?!?…
Well, this name fits to this GW world so I give it = 8.314/10
Human male warrior = Kang The Shiny
Kang the Shiney not a bad name at all though I’m sure it would suit a skritt more. I’ll give it 7/10 but you get +1 if your armour is completely gold.
Human Male Guardian = Calm Caril
“Jim’ll Fix It and if he doesn’t it’s not broken”
6/10 Sorry for the low rating but ‘calm’ seems rather bland and I have no idea what ‘Caril’ is supposed to be.
Since I carry the Prism theme across multiple characters, both my humans have it in their name.
Elementalist: Noble, “The Prismatic Angel”
Necromancer: Street Rat, “Haunted Prism”
Interesting that prism has a ‘naming’ policy and I can see how that could make naming characters a bit easier. Most times I try a name I have retry, retry, retry until I get something that in some way matches my mood, the character and is not taken.
So it will be 7 for ‘Haunted Prism’ – Suitably unnerving for a necro.
A 7 for ‘The Prismatic Angel’ too as I like how it fits the theme idea. I’m not sure I personally like that name though or I may have scored it higher (no offence meant).
Two more human characters I have with rubbish names!
I’m not so ‘up’ on the lore of GW as some and, as such, my character names are rarely in line with said lore.
So, get ya claws into these ;
Heppin – Eng. – I’m told in means ‘fortunate’ in some ancient language!
Angyoouh – Guard. – Some of you may get the link! (It’s from a series of books).
8/10 For Heppin. It’s just a fun name to say, and I think it fits an engineer well.
3/10 for Angyoouh. This is most emphatically NOT a fun name to say.
==
And as for me, I tend to give my characters a title.
Slayer Romarix – Guardian – A smashing together of three words. Rome (the empire), Marxist (the theory), and Mare (the folklore creature).
Traveler Rhea – Thief – Nothing particularly special. I was just going for a “flighty” name and liked how this one sounded.
8/10 for Slayer Romarix. I just love names with ‘ix’ in them. 8 for Traveler Rhea aswell it’s very pretty.
My Mesmer is called Lady Celeste. She dresses very eccentrically, has the prettiest hair, and just loves Masquerade Balls.
My thief is called Alexia May. Simple but pretty.
7- Lady Celeste
nice name, but i’ve never like titels in names. (except for in puns like Sir Killalot) but it’s a classy name
9,5 -Alexia May. very pretty. i’ve always been week to A-names and short names,
my ele is Clair Dount. i’m planning on changing the name as i grew tired of female armors. but haven’t come up with a new one.
i have a guardian named David Ahred.
I saw Eclair Donut right there. 8/10 for delicious desserts. (not sure if it has origins elsewhere though)
David Ahred sounds boring but passable, 6.
My ele is Telacia Zyanya.
Telacia was derived from the back half of Xiuhtecuhtli, an aztec god of fire. the A at the end was to feminise the name.
Zyanya is also mesoamerican, either nahuatl or zapotec in origin. it means always or forever.
8/10 Sounds awesome, and I love names with “ia” at the end.
My female human ranger is called Shantesu, after a nickname my sword developed in an older game. It was a wolf sword, hence why I chose it for my ranger.
Shantesu – 8/10. I like it, sounds simple, yet elegant and feminine, and I like the link to a previous game. Almost gives it a sense of history.
My own, a Canthan (a nation already based on oriental culture) elementalist named Qi Tian. Tian can mean ‘heavenly’ or ‘otherworldly’, while Qi (or Chi) is the ‘energy’ or ‘life force’ of a person in Taoism. Literally, ‘Heavenly life force’. I thought it was appropriate seeing as magic is believed to be bestowed upon people by the gods.
(edited by Eduku.4958)
9/10 for Qi Tian. Just about perfect for a Canthan name. It works in the lore and all, but it gives no sense of the person behind it’s upbringing or anyting beyond “It’s canthan”. Really though, this is just me nitpicking, it’s great.
Liliana Monteclaire. Again. Because we’ve moved on a page.
Hi there,
I’d give at least a 9 out of 10 to your human female name, Anemone. I like the sound of it and the French flavor is to my liking. Hey, French is my mother tongue after all :-)
I have one human male guardian. I gave him the name my GW1 monk had:
The Show Must Go On.
8/10 I like it just a little unoriginal well… Can’t really say that considering my Mesmers name Mogaarrrr… Mogar was taken ok? Hopefully someone get’s it
5/10 Mogaarrr sounds pretty good for a big manly dude actually, but it also sounds like you’re in mid gurgle.
Alusian Fareluil is my elementalist. I name all my characters after characters from the novel I’m writing, although Fareluil is just a family name I pulled out of thin air in GW1 when it needed 2 names.
7/10
A very nice name to look at, and I’m sure it has great backstory in your novel, but after trying to pronounce it, I had to take off points. It just sounds like such an unnatural jumble of syllables and sounds.
My male ranger’s name is Rolin. It’s from my GW1 ranger’s name Rolin Mori (last name can loosely be translated from Japanese as “of the forest”) but I decided to drop the last name in GW2 to make the name faster to read and say.
I’m going to say a 8/10 on it. While the name has a nice ring to it, It for some reason makes me think of rolling, which could be an excellent thing for a ranger. Plus I like how Rolin Mori sounds from your GW1 character.
I have a female necromancer named Crudellia, which her name comes from an older character Crudellia De Viyle, which is a play on Cruel and the Dahlia flower, beautiful to look at, but can be deadly.
8/10 The backstory was kinda weird 0.o
Male Human Guardian – Zirx, God of Justice
Female Human Necromancer – Mistress of Hell
Female Human Mesmer- The Violet Wisp
8/10 for Mako Scarlet, i like it
Mine is a warrior that goes by the name of
<———Azzrael Deathbane
Live and die on this day. Live and die on this day.”
Azzrael Deathbane – First of all it lights up a nostalgic feeling inside of me, Gargamel’s kittening kitten, you know.
Then I get reminded of Batman when I read your name, which is never a bad thing
[I wonder if somebody already used Batman for his characters name, gotta try].
Finally the combination of the letters is nice to look at when seeing this name = 8,75/10
Sylvari thief called “I Hate Manure”
Salad/10
We’re naming humans here.
Amanda Winthrop
Human names are too easy.
named my human necro “plaguewitch”
Nope. Its more fun that way
Theodore Bruckner – warrior and Celestine de Santis – guardian
7/10 Theodore Bruckner – Bruckner sounds pretty original, but Theodore would probably be an Ascalonian name, which your character just might be.
6/10 Celestine de Santis – Celestine is pretty overused in my opinion. Sorry
I have just created a Human Engineer, and it took like 2 hours of research to come up with his name. Still, give me your honest opinion it’s not like I’m going to delete the character if the name is unoriginal (I probably will [jk, I won’t lol]).
So, Human Engineer – Enoch The Tinkerer (Biblical Greek name meaning “dedicated” and for my character it is pronounced as “Enok”)
(edited by TwoSiders.6893)
Enoch’s a pretty neat name, not that used. Not sure about the Tinkerer though, hehe. 7/10.
I have six human names. XD So whoever is next, give me six scores. XD
Iceblink – male warrior, krytan (to be fair, the name was used for a futuristic mmo years ago, just reusing it due to it being my screenname)
Serafita – female guardian, elonian
Ideonas – male thief, ascalonian (inherited derived version of name from City of Heroes alt, haha)
Pirea – female mesmer, ascalonian (or orr descendant, not sure, same as above, inherited name)
Kiku Hiiragi – female elementalist, canthan (one japanese style name)
Xiuying Ren – female engineer, canthan (and one chinese style name, haha)
Six scores eh?
Iceblink (5/10)
First of all, I always like names more with a surname. I just can’t fit this in, I’m sorry =)
Serafita (7/10)
I like this name, however it doesn’t sound very elonian to me.
Ideonas (6/10)
Good name for a human.
Pirea (9/10)
I like it very much, I definitely never heard it before!
Kiku Hiiragi (7/10)
Really fitting the eastern theme, sadly we are not yet in Cantha.
Xiuying Ren (8/10)
Same as above, but this is just a bit more mysterious, and I like that about eastern names.
I have 7 Human characters, but I’ll tone it down to my 3 scholars, all female.
- Cyan Graceland – Elementalist, just a commoner woman descendant of a slightly slipped down family. She’s named Cyan because of the color of her eyes.
- Larissa Vaughn – Mesmer, a noble woman who is seen on royal parties although she might found here fortune on illegal ways. The name just came to me.
- Angelique Cazera – Necromancer – A woman from the streets, but with a higher class background. I wanted to create a name with a Mediterranean feel to it, because she also have some Mediterranean characteristics.
The Knights Temple [TKT] — Aurora Glade
cyan graceland: 8/10, i love cyan. not a fan of graceland.
larissa vaughn: 9/10, its an amazing name if you ask me.
angelique cazera: again not a fan of the surname, ill give it a 7!
i plan to call my next char (female human mesmer) Levitas Exalance – tell me what you think.
Dante Strife translate it means violent demon
Pretty good 7/10. I like Dante but kinda eh on Strife. Seems a bit too obvious.
My thief is French-inspired in look and name, with Yves Mallette (ievs malleh). My ele is African/middle eastern inspired with Mahir Nejem (mah-heer neh-jeem). Majir means ‘skillful’ and Nejem means ‘star.’

Yves Mallette ( 8/10 )
Remembered Mallette family crest…
http://www.houseofnames.com/mallette-family-crest
Over all nice name..
Mahir Nejem ( 8/10 )
Tbh Mahir is not African name. It Turkish name and yes it means skillful, expert; performed with a high degree of skill.
So my toons..
First I’m using same surname “Sidus” at all my toons but engineer.
Sidus : Latin word “Sidus” was more often used in the plural than in the singular, and it usually meant a constellation. It was also used figuratively (usually in the plural again) to mean the sky or heavens or a great height, including a figurative height, as of fame or glory.

Engineer : Nicolæ Tesla ( or Nicola but his true name Nicolæ)
The Genius Engineer Who Lit The World… I can’t speak about it Just check the link if you want to know more about him.
http://theoatmeal.com/comics/tesla
____________________________________________________
Elementalist : Adara Sidus
Adara : It is of Arabic, Greek and Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Adara is “virgin; beauty; noble”.
And Mother Sidus.
For more info ( and also it comes from at least for me ) : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epsilon_Canis_Majoris
____________________________________________________
Necro : William Sidus
William : William is from the Old Norman form Williame, corresponding to the French spelling Guillaume, and is a cognate from the German Wilhelm, and of Germanic origin: wil = “will or desire”; helm; Old English helm “helmet, protection”;1 thus the Old German name Wilhelm and the Old Norse name Vilhjálmr have the same roots. The name William has today been interpreted to mean protector of the kingdom or realm.
And Father Sidus.

Warrior : Azazel Sidus
Azazel : The meaning of Azazel is that of “who God strengthens”.
For more info : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azazel
____________________________________________________
Guardian : Azazil Sidus
Azazil : Same as Azazel and sister of Azazel.

That’s a ton of homework to do, to rate all those names.
Nicolae Tesla: 8/10
Adara Sidus: 5/10 (a little too obscure for me)
William Sidus: 5/10
Azazel Sidus: 9/10
Azazil Sidus: 9/10 (I like the god sibling reference in relation to the attribute of the god)
Mine:
Female Theif: Clever Cupcake
Female Guardian: Mighty Muffin
Female Elementalist: Lavender Luscious
(Cupcake and Muffin share the same face, have white hair, but have different hairstyles. Let’s say one is the bad twin sister and steals things and is generally the life of the party. Let’s say the other sister is honor bound, a total bore, but sticks up for her friends.)
After reading through a couple of these posts, I feel like I’m… one dimensional.
Anyways, back to business.
Clever Cupcake: 10/10 (Clever name for a Thief, Cupcake)
Mighty Muffin: 10/10 (I see the relation of Muffin with Might, and Might with Guardian, which is totally appropriate)
Lavender Luscious: 8/10 (Smells nice, but doesn’t necessarily relate to an Elementalist. But a great name nonetheless)
In short, your first two names made me hungry!
Mine:
Male Ranger: Anhillator
(Not my first choice (Nyx). Neither was it my second (Stark), nor my third (Enzo). Oh well, I get punished for arriving late for such an awesome game as this! Seems fair)
7/10 The name reminds me of an exotic weapon that dropped the other day.
Sky Draconis
Sky – for the sky blue personality he presents
and,
Draconis – for the rugged armor he dawns
8/10 Because it sounds pretty cool and you have some reasoning behind the name.
My female elementalist’s name is Adrecia and my female thief’s name is Lavaene. I liked the sound of Adrecia and Lavaene is variation of my friend’s name.
Adrecia and Lavanae… 8/10 for both. They sound obscure but obscure names are not that original.
Neither is mine female elementalists name: Ele Lady. She was called Elementalist Lady back in gw1 days for the 7 years I played. I shortened the name, because I was always called by the shortened version.
4/10 Ele Lady – I’m sorry but that’s neither creative or immersive lol.
Selena Tucagon (Ancestor of Lysdea Tukagon from GW1 (ancient ascalonian family)).
8/10 for Selena Tucagon – The first name is very human I suppose, and I just keep seeing Toucan when I read the last name.
My human mesmer is Cervian Cole (Pronounced Servian)
Auraide Hendrick, Human Guardian
Cervian Cole – 8/10, I’m sure there was an NPC called this in Baldur’s Gate!
The name sounds like one from Medieval England, After the crusades.
My elementalist is called Kathryn Greywind.
[NOX] & [Coma] – Gunnar’s Hold.
9/10
Excellent name, it suits the class very well. Maybe it would have been perfect, if you touched up the first part a little bit.
The name is Tassar and I’m a thief. ( I’ve been playing RTSs for some time, inspired from Starcraft storyline, original name )
Valorahn GS – Sf Guardian
~Gandara
Huge lore fan of any fantasy game, especialy from Blizzard so you get a 9/10 since the name is awesome (Tassadar being 1337), however the -1 goes for it not being so unique sorry.
I`ve got two human characters mostly trying out professions but still I always try to find a suitable name so here it goes.
Female Elementalist – Blaze Burns (self-explanatory)
Female Guardian – Siobhan Wyvern
(pronunciated Shi-vaun for those unfamiliar with it, I just love the name … its irish for christs sake! ^^ and the surname Wyvern, meaning a legendary winged beast, similar (but not necesarily) to a drake, somehow represents the hot-blooded temper of the family, wyverns have been used as heralds in human history and I find it a suitable name for my feisty guardian wearing her fiery coloured family plate)
Sarevrok
i win
becouse of that … I gotta only give 6/10 for the names above me
Cervian Cole – 8/10, I’m sure there was an NPC called this in Baldur’s Gate!
The name sounds like one from Medieval England, After the crusades. My elementalist is called Kathryn Greywind.
If there was I completely missed it. (I actually just never got past the first few “zones”)
I thought of it during my GW1 days after I had to buy another account and Plum Butter was taken by my Mesmer on the other.
0/10 no name.
I named my female mesmer Elrènia Tinùviel. It is LotR elvish.
[Aia] Amoria- The guild of pleasant love
¸ . ø ¤ º ° º ¤ ø . ¸ ¸ . ø ¤ º ° º ¤ ø . ¸
7/10 for Elrènia Tinùviel, would go 8/10 with no accents, just a pet peeve of mine
I’ve got 4 Humans:
Draco Aurum ………… Elementalist
Ebenezer Grimm ……. Necromancer
Michael Shepherd ….. Guardian
Skullreaper …………… Warrior
7/10 for Elrènia Tinùviel, would go 8/10 with no accents, just a pet peeve of mine
I’ve got 4 Humans:
Draco Aurum ………… Elementalist
Ebenezer Grimm ……. Necromancer
Michael Shepherd ….. Guardian
Skullreaper …………… Warrior
Accents were needed otherwise it would be pronounced Elreeeeenia Tinooooviel. :p
[Aia] Amoria- The guild of pleasant love
¸ . ø ¤ º ° º ¤ ø . ¸ ¸ . ø ¤ º ° º ¤ ø . ¸
7/10 for Rammfire, although I prefer having both first and lastnames, it has a nice ring to it.
Arrius Tenderlin (Guardian) – Named after my GW1 character Arrius The Young. (figured after gw1 the hero’s name could’ve gotten famous and a popular name in the later years)
Vivienne Fenn (Elementalist) – Named after the Ashram and Nazag Fenn (2 collectors from GW1), she’s supposed to be a distant relative.
