Because you are boring…
JK

You just got that preference and that is fine… only you can really know why though.

Personally I completely adore the sylvari, they are so beautyful and interesting. I love the way they look, I love their lore, I love their personalities. They are not scaled btw… they are infact barky :P They are plants afterall. Their skin is made of either leaves or bark. Sylvari is by far the most appealing for me.

Charr are amaizing. I love that Anet didn’t go mainstream with their female charr design and made them too human. What can I say… I love felines and fantasy felines are just that much better. I love that they are indeed intelligent beasts and overly humanised.

Asura, the lack of difference in looks does not bother me one bit. I love how they can look absolutely adorably cute and then incredibly ugly. I love that wether they look horrid or sweet as a bunneh, they are extremely intelligent and I actually like their otherwise quite hateful personality and arrogance. I love that the way they use words.

Norn, 1 thing I find unappealing about norn is the height. I am myself a rather short little lady so identify badly with something that tall. Yet I love their lore, I love their individuality, which does not exclude sociable behaviour. They got the big brute look and granted they are very much hunters and fighters. But they are actually quite loveable, funloving and cheerful bunch. I like that.

Human is infact my least fav of all the races. I don’t hate them, their story is quite alright and their city is very pretty. I just find them kinda… dull I guess.

Currently I have 3 sylvari, 3 charr, 2 asura and only 1 norn and 1 human. My plan is to get 3 of each race (get all 3 stories) so I will have 3 humans too and will likely get to love them too. But all preferences. We all play differently and thats a good thing.

Life doesn’t stop being funny just because the dead can’t laugh.

All my 8 characters are human. I tried the other races but just can’t seem to get myself to like them.

IMO:

Asura – too small, don’t like the comical nature, ugly too.
Charr – they’re cool, don’t like the hunching and the armour is just wrong on them.
Sylvari – oh no….no..no……for me, I would have liked it if Anet stuck with original elves concept. Sylvari changes were late in the game and feel tacked on.
Norn – Norn were okay, I played one to lvl 10, just felt too clumsy and overly brawny, their voices are also too….wrong?

Human are just the right size, not weird looking and their faces have better features that you can actually fine tune to look good/pretty.

Opposite for me. I feel like I need to force myself to play as either a human or norn (or even sylvari sometimes). I have 4 asura, 1 charr, 2 sylvari, and 1 human. The human may or may not get turned into a charr once I pick an order for the achievement and story. I’m only tolerating it because I decided to make the human to have someone look really piratey, otherwise I wanted a charr for the idea of a big hulking cat with the agility of a normal one. Norn I’m struggling to even care about. I don’t think I’ve ever taken one outside the level 2-5 area.

I do not mind the asura. Think they are cute. I play a female elementalist.

The charrs are ok but they are a little too big which makes them seem to move slowly, especially since they are moving on all fours. Plus, most armor look bad on them.

The norns have a really cool background (with the viking theme and all) but they are just way too big for my taste. Looks hillarious when they “run” around. And it’s a cheap excuse for a race aswell. Could have just been a bigger subrace of humans, instead (and at the same time they should have been smaller in stature).

Sylvari have the same problem with armour. Most normal armor looks bad on them and I don’t know why, but I just seem to find sylvari a boring. Feels like I am playing a living sallad too…

I don’t exclusively make human toons, but most of them are. I think for most GW1 fans, there are so many human cultures (that’s all you could play, anyway) and so we pretty much made toons based off what they were in the 1st game, or for anyone more inclined to the philosophical approach, what their descendants would look like. Unfortunately, Anet scrapped cultural selection from human character creation.

While it’s ok to play human (my main is a human), don’t limit yourself. Playing only human is actually kinda lame.

Charrs are really funny, and they bicker at each other all the time. Asura are little jerks, and you just want to knee them in the teeth sometimes. Norns have great beards. And Sylvari are hippies.

Humans are actually the most boring. They are so generic. And Logan is kind of douchy. It’s a fantasy game, make a crazy looking character and go kill things. Don’t limit yourself to one race or you will miss out.

Opinion =/= fact. You may find humans boring and generic, but a lot of people feel otherwise. Humans in Guild Wars have a rich history and lots of lore, a multitude of different cultures, and in GW2, they occupy a similar thematic place that humans rarely do in other fantasy – an old, once-powerful culture now on the decline and struggling to survive. There’s a lot of depth below the surface for humans, particularly for GW1 veterans.

I personally find the Sylvari the least interesting race, and humans and charr are the most interesting to me because of their history, culture, and lore – but others feel differently, and if people love the Sylvari the most, it doesn’t bother me. If people find humans the most interesting and don’t care for the other races, why shouldn’t they roll all humans?

You make a fair point. And as a Guild Wars vet since release I appreciate the human lore. And humans as a bit generic in this game is my opinion.

However, my point is: to appreciate and understand the entire lore of Guild Wars 2 one should not limit themselves to only human characters.

That’s fair, and I do agree with you on that – I have made every race for that reason (except Sylvari, just personally not a fan). Every race has its own unique qualities to experience and I enjoy delving into each of their unique cultures.

I know I hated the Charr from my GW1 Ascalon bias at first, but after playing a Charr character, I came to really appreciate them and their culture, to the point that they are now my second favorite race.

I think the physique is why I go with human above the others.

The human physique looks more cut and ripped in my opinion.
