I just don’t like these one-dimensional characters that we have in this game. Especially when they are not believable. C’mon.. an egalitarian queen? What’s next? We find out that she was voted into office a la Star Wars Ep1?
She doesn’t really need too many dimensions since she’s just an NPC. As various Living Stories go by maybe we’ll see more sides of her but I’m not fussed if she just sits on a chair and gets fanned by nubiles only wearing g-strings or runs around Divinities Reach in full plate shouting orders at everyone. Though the latter might be fun.
The former might be fun too…

Everything you said is true. However, goody two shoes are worse than other types of cardboard cutouts (that’s why I’d like to see Kiel killed off as well). And I would replace them with more complex characters that are more realistically human with human motivations, flaws, etc. Is that too much to ask?
Do you realize how much strain A-net would go through because they killed Jennah?
She appears as a prominent individual in the Human Personal Story line where you must pick an order.
So randomly she is back to life in those 3 missions?
Also, she is the one who wants to have the peace treaty with the Charr.
This would be a horrible decision, Lore wise and gameplay wise
She doesn’t appear anywhere in the open world. Personal Story NPCs die all the time. Hell, a huge chunk of the open world centres around a dead elder dragon. At some point, if the story truly intends on being “Living” we need to treat the personal story as past events. They discussed how difficult making changes to orr would be for Personal Story reasons, but Jennah is fair game.
They won’t kill her, but that’s not to say they can’t kill her.

They think killing most important characters in lore is exciting. Jennah is last heir of throne (probably as whisper representant in story mentioned)
What would happen if she die? Caudecus will take rule? Let bandids walk freely in Divinity’s reach and end peace with charr? And then Logan will want revange on him ( becouse who else would want Jennah death, at least this is what will Logan think). He will kill him or try to do it and put Kryta in civil war and probably rest of world too, becouse they are now friends with Brimstone again and he would be very angry at Caudesus decision to end peace.
I dont think this or similar is lore they want.

She believes everyone is equal from her comfy throne with her elite guards and servants. In Jennah’s mind, does everyone get a Jubilee?

And I would replace them with more complex characters that are more realistically human with human motivations, flaws, etc. Is that too much to ask?
Or they could just develop the characters we already have and flesh them out more. We haven’t seen Jennah enough or know enough about her to say she’s a flawless and perfect ruler. Maybe she has some deep, dark secrets? Maybe she’s not as great as ruling as it would seem? Maybe she’s not who we think she is? Maybe she’s having a secret affair with Rox.
I definitely agree that we need more depth and lore in the game, but I don’t see how just replacing the characters would help that.
There might be an assassination attempt on Queen Jennah by either the Bandits or Separatists (or an alliance of both, or the White Mantle involved). However, due to plot armor of Queen Jennah, the assassination attempt will fail and we’ll have another Living Story content involving this.

You should have read Destiny’s Edge and Ghosts of Ascalon. You get a lot more of her character out that way.
To be honest, I really want to see Queen Jenna killed because Moncarchy is stupid in modern day Tyria.
However, the ministry is far too corrupt. (And Caudecus is apparently an extraterrestrial with a stone-based Flying Saucer in an out of bounds area of CM)

(And yes, England isn’t a monarchy, but Tyria has a system of elected representatives as well, not unlike a parliament.)

Technically she’s the Queen of other countries as well, although similair to the UK it’s just as a figure head. Technically she has power (in Australia, her representative has to recognise the elected Prime Minister for their position to be official and when the election is called, the Prime Minister has to visit the Queen’s representative) but that’s mostly just tradition.
Regardless, Jennah isn’t just a figurehead in Tyria (although sometimes she could be seen as a puppet of the Order of Whispers), she has real power and she exercises it. The Queen of England is just a figurehead, the Queen of Kryta has real power. I’m not intimately familiar with the Krytan system, but it sounds like it’s similair to the American system, where the president holds the power, but there is a balance of power held by elected officials. Unlike the American president, the Krytan Queen is never elected.
Regardless, it’s bizarre that the pirates are more democratic than the human nation.
I agree that Jennah is fairly bland and one-dimensional (as are most NPCs, such as both Kiel and Gnashblade), but killing her off is the lazy way to fix that.
I’d rather see them use the Living Story as a chance to flesh Jennah out and add more depth to her character. They could add a darker side to her character, too. Though I don’t think she should do a total 180 to an amoral or ‘evil’ character, they could have her sanctioning some questionable and potentially immoral actions to solidify her rule and combat the machinations of certain members of the Ministry. I think something along those lines would be interesting and would make Jennah much more compelling, while not completely re-writing her character and without having to resort to just killing her off.
