so the next event will be in divinity reach!
so the next event will be in divinity reach!
Yep, seems so. And that line about hot-air balloons seems like they’ll be a sort of zone-specific instant travel options to Divinity’s Reach. Interesting as that sounds.
Does anyone see a similarity between the “Crown Pavilion” concept and the Eye of the North?
Obviously false information. There’s no way such an event will happen in Divinity. If it does, the patch will have to move entire Divinitys Reach to Lions Arch, then have the event in Divinitys Reach in Lions Arch.
Lions Arch is the only city that exist in Tyria which can change, everybody knows that.
Lookin’ forward to farming the inevitable new currency (not).

I forgot where but one of the developers said in a post whining about LA having all the events that “Divinity’s reach will have it’s day” so it’s quite possible this event will take place there :P
Im glad to see DR getting some much needed love. Im gonna hope that more perma stuff is added to it, something like that Crown Pavilion and a minigame wont cut the mustard though… would love to see something that might bring me back to DR on a regular basis, among many other players. Will have to wait until the reveal later today.

I’ve been under the tent in divinity and underneath are those wings.

Yea…they need to just make everything purchasable with black lion tickets, thereby letting us buy past event weapon skins as well.

That’d be grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat
I hope the great collapse turns into what it was intended to be.

They’ve already said it won’t :/

….time to kill myself.
So they are going to build a new royal pavilion on top of ground that is knowingly unstable and/or has needed thousands of tonnes of reclaim to fill in.
What could go wrong with a plan like that?
Ah, and what happens to all the people who lost their homes, who are now either living in tents or crammed 8 to a 1 bedroom residence since they lost everything they owned?
So any new content to play or just talk to npcs?
What the heck happened to the Canthan District’s revival??? I do not accept this…
Great, I’m gonna pay my respect to the queen by offering her a pair of shoes and a foot lotion.
After almost one year of barefoot wandering I guess it will be greatly welcomed.
What the heck happened to the Canthan District’s revival??? I do not accept this…
There never was a Canthan District in Divinity’s Reach, the Great Collapse was known as the “Artist District” before collapsing, nothing to do with Cantha.

No. It’s been confirmed by Anet that before it became “the Great Collapse”, it was the Canthan District. The lore was changed to reflect the new area, but Anet missed editing out some references to it on a few NPCs.

if the next event will be in Divinity’s Reach, this means Kiel already won the ellection. I was thinking is no way to see the curent state of votes, whats the curent percentage?
We can ALL vote like kittens for Evon and ANet can say there was way too many votes for Kiel. who can check that? probably the dungeon and Living story its already set
A Skritt is dumb. A group of Skritt are smart.
A Human is smart. A group of Humans are idiots.

No it’s been confirmed by Anet that before it became “the Great Collapse” it was the Artist District. That screenshot you posted was a very early one, before they changed their mind about the Canthan district. There never was a Canthan District in lore.

No, Anet confirmed that before it was the new “Artist District” (new, as in after it was the Canthan District), it was the Canthan District.
Anthony Ordon:
Just a final quick note, I’m certainly not denying that at one point a Canthan district was planned and partially implemented. But the actual lore of the district that the game shipped doesn’t support it very well right now.
I think it’s great that you guys are fans of Cantha and I would personally like to see it in the game as well. But what you’ll be finding under that tent (very soon) is not Canthan. I’m just making assumptions here, but if we did return to Cantha I suspect it would be a really big deal, way too big to fit under the even largest of tents, or even in an existing city at all.
After the game shipped there was NO Canthan District anymore in Lore or otherwise.
Also:
So, I’m not going to spoil anything but I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you guys that according to game lore, there was never a Canthan district. If you’ve done your research, you’ll know that the great collapse was formally an arts district.

So you admit that there WAS a Canthan District. No idea why you doubted me. Just because it wasn’t in the game when it shipped, doesn’t mean it never existed. It WAS written in lore before it was taken out.
On a side note, Yeng Isen, who is/was a part of the Order of Whispers, is from the “Canthan areas of Divinity’s Reach”.
See: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Suspicious_Activity
ps – my apologies for upstaging you like that.

No there never was a Canthan District in game lore… I don’t count pre-pre-pre-release unfinished content. The part that before release they were planning on having a Canthan District, doesn’t mean that there actually was a Canthan District in the game at any point -after release-.
Canthan Areas of Divinity’s Reach doesn’t mean a whole new district though. He could be from anywhere.
So the queens jubilee is together with the 1 year celebration of gw2. I can’t wait what they have in store for this event
It seems like they intended to have a canthan district in early stages of the game but somehow changed their mind at some point and erased it, creating the great collapse in the process.
They (tried) to delete every mention in the lore of the game of this district and made instead an art district which is the one supposed to have been destroyed in the collapse.
However, they somehow forgot some mention of the original canthan district and that’s why there’s still some NPCs mentioning it.
I think these mentions must be seen as oversights from dev side and should not be taken as lore.

I like to think it’s Anet way to “protest” the fact they had to remove that district from the headoffice in korea. Kept in the little things.
This is our Anniversary thing??? …what?
Logan and Jennah … possibly the ONLY love story worse than Twilight
Ugh, just shoot me right now.
No literally, I’ll be in WVW the whole time boycotting this … come shoot me.

I daydream seeing it,
But I would like to have small shops (open house and develop as shops), types Souvenirs / fashion / bakeries and apothecary. PNJs that find their shops anyway!

Btw where are these NPCs that mention the unfinished/unreleased Canthan District?

Oh I never said they never planned on making a Canthan District or they never half-implemented it. I mentioned the fact that the actual Canthan District was never released, therefore it never existed in game lore. Something that was never released cannot be in lore, ever.

There are Canthan’s still in Kryta. All my human characters are Canthan in my lore choice. So sorry mate, you can deny it all you want, but you just admitted that Cantha existed pre-release.

As I said in my previous post, technically it exists in game (as Smooth Penguin showed in his link).
The fact is, ArenaNet obviously doesn’t want us to take what they probably consider as oversights as lore. But as long as they don’t remove it, we kind of have different versions of the same thing in the game (kind of similar of what exactly happened during the Great Collapse, some say it was a sudden event and some say it had been forecast a while before by the authorities. Same issue with the casualties, some say they have been able to evacuate everyone and other sources say there have been deads…).

Are there any other “oversights” in the game? Because in that link we get:
Valenze: He was born and raised in the Canthan areas of Divinity’s Reach. He worked in the gladitorial arena until he was injured.
Canthan areas doesn’t mean a whole Canthan District. I’m just curious where the other npc conversations are.

Last time I checked, DR didn’t have any Canthan Areas…
And we do have acces to the whole city quarters (except the part that collapsed , obviously)
Canthan areas can simply refer to an area where many Canthan lives. Not something that is specifically Canthan.

Canthan Areas don’t have to “look” Canthan, just the area those of Canthan origin live in. And it can be anywhere.
From the Wiki
“At one point, Divinity’s Reach contained a Canthan district similar to the Ossan Quarter. The district was removed late in development because NCsoft received negative feedback from the Asian gaming markets, who were uncomfortable that Chinese and Korean architectural styles had been mixed, damaging the possibility of a Canthan expansion.”
and on the grrat collapse
“The Great Collapse is an area located in the western part of Divinity’s Reach. Before the area collapsed, this was the location of the Canthan and arts district. There are conflicting stories on what happened the night of the collapse. The Shining Blade blame the collapse on hasty construction and claim that there were warning signs weeks before the disaster. Accordingly, they took steps to work with the Seraph to evacuate all residents from the district. However, many locals never mention that the Seraph were involved with protecting the citizens, and along with this, Riot Alice says that her father died during the collapse.
There are also rumors of strange noises coming from the depths of the Great Collapse, which locals associate with the pre-existing rumors of drakes living in the city’s sewer system."
So the lore does in fact dictate that there was a Canthan district before the collapse happened.

Unless the one who wrote the part on the wiki did before Anthony Ordon clarified what was going on with the Canthan District.
Also, where is the in-game reference that that was the Canthan District beofre the collapse?
So the lore does in fact dictate that there was a Canthan district before the collapse happened.
The Wiki isn’t official though, it’s community driven and can be wrong.
I don’t see the problem. It’s not like Canthan architecture and general arts are mutually exclusive.
To me, it will forever be the Canthan Arts District; the arts district that happened to house the Canthans who brought both their architecture and their culture/arts.
Now everybody shake hands.
Either way, it’s gone, and it’s not coming back; something new is built there instead, and the devs said that it wasn’t the royal garden.

It is a shame that most of the mmo fansites will throw those prints away. I’d love to get them ;_;
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
Its about time we get the hell out of LA. I love DR.
Im glad to see DR getting some much needed love. Im gonna hope that more perma stuff is added to it, something like that Crown Pavilion and a minigame wont cut the mustard though… would love to see something that might bring me back to DR on a regular basis, among many other players. If crown pavilion is nothing more than a instance im going to be disappointed.
Uhm and what about the other cities?

Well, if anet are smart about it and use this month as a tester for getting DR full of content, I cant see why they wouldnt do the same for cities around tyria in the future.
This is the whole point of the LS (supposedly), to go around the world making updates and improvements via a story arc. I know we havnt seen much of that besides fluff and mini games, but anet have stated they are focusing on the perma stuff this half of the year. With 6 months, and 2 updates per month, its possible to suggest that all the cities will be visited by the end of the year.
I hope Anthony is right when he said we will be seeing more serious, immersive updates (World Events/Meta). Mini Games, shiny back skins, parties are getting old. The more they keep pumping out carnival style content, the more I will stay away from LS.
I mean I support Evon and donate all tickets to him, but I did the mini-games from CP a couple times before leaving. Having a small dose of mini-games is all good fun, but when that’s all the LS really offers, it doesn’t excite me much.
I want to enjoy the actual world of tyria!!!!!
