So I can finally join this club.
First, a big thanks to woomera for the guide and video.
After ~21 tries in green Soldier’s gear with 30/20/0/0/10, axe/warhorn + staff, and 3 times getting Liadri to 5% health and not downing her (ran out of time all 3 times), I broke down and bought some ascended zerker WvW gear and exo zerker weapons last night, then went to bed.
Tonight I downed a few bosses to get some tickets, then for the first time this patch I bought 20 more tickets from the vendor for cogs + money. With 23 in hand, I went back up to the dome to prepare for another decently long run at it.
First fight of the night, I cruise through Phase 1 and ready myself for phase 2. Popping Spectral + Lich, I target Liadri and start wailing away….before Lich even runs out (~25 seconds), I’m the owner of a Liadri mini. Talk about overkill; but hey, at least I have some farming gear now.
Guardian
30/0/5/30/5 – Staff for orbs and swiftness buff to finish phase 1 quickly/Scepter with Focus for phase 2 DPSing (used scepter skill 2 to shut down orbs).
Heals, Utilities, and Elite were Shelter, Stand Your Ground, Retreat!, Save Yourselves!, and Renewed Focus.
Mainly rare quality PVT armor, exotic back, and masterwork trinkets with rare rampage weapons except for staff, which I used Memories of the Sky exotic.
Took me 6 days and about 200 entrance tickets of attempts until I stumbled upon this lovely video right here
as soon as i switched to this build, i beat her in the next attempt with almost a minute to spare
Just finished Liadri with my thief.
Traits:
Critical Strikes 30: V, VII, XI
Shadow Arts 10: I
Acrobatics 20: VI, VII
Trickery 10: III
Skills: Hide in Shadows (heal), Shadow Refuge, Signet of Agility, Signet of Shadows, Thieves Guild (elite)
Armor: Twilight Arbor breastplate (P/T/CD) along with the rune it came with. The rest of the armor was carrion (P/V/CD) with 5 Superior Rune of the Krait (because I’m cheap), and the trinkets were all chrysocola (P/V/CD).
Weapons: Used p/d the entire fight. Pistol was P/V/CD with a Superior Sigil of Agony, and dagger was P/P/CD with a Superior Sigil of Hobbling.
Consumables: Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew, Master Tuning Crystal, and a Black Lion health generation buff I had lying around
Phase 1: For the first two orbs I pretty much followed the video that Orpheal posted. As soon as I threw the second orb, I hunted down the cosmic rift orb and killed it, then led a vision into the third portal and threw the orb.
Phase 2: As soon as I threw the third orb, I used Thieves Guild for some extra breathing room. I have no idea if they did anything, as I was running for my life to find the first safe spot so I could begin rotating in a clockwise direction (it doesn’t really matter, but that’s what felt comfortable for me). If she ever crippled me, dodging took care of that with the trait skill, plus the dodge caltrops slowed both her and the visions down a bit. Basically, making sure I missed the aoes was the first priority. Otherwise, I just turned around to shoot her with skill 1 whenever I had a chance and knew I was in a safe spot. Shadow strike could work if she got close, but it’s a little risky if you’re not positioned correctly and might teleport into an aoe. Also, dancing dagger would have been useful on Liadri for more cripple, but I kind of panicked too much and forgot to use it… Mostly, it came down to the fact that the stars aligned on the attempt where I killed her: the rifts didn’t pull me into any aoe, visions didn’t spawn on top of me, and everything went smoothly. Because I knew with my awful internet that I needed to focus more on being completely inside a safe spot and only had time to turn and shoot Liadri on occasion, I relied a ton on my condition damage to take her down. That’s why I made sure I had a lot of it.
Tips:
*Under graphics in options, turn post processing to None so her weird blind thing doesn’t affect you.
*Use Free Camera was nice for me so that my camera (which was hard enough to control already in that stupid dome) didn’t jerk around whenever I picked up an orb.
*Turn off Melee Attack Assist so that it’s easier to hit rifts on the run.
*Always use Cloak and Dagger to hit rifts. The invisibility gives some breathing space, and you can’t kill the rifts with projectiles quickly enough.
*Signet of Agility can refill your endurance when activated, but I never used it. Just remember it’s there if you get dodge-happy.
*If visions get to close, you can always use Signet of Shadows to blind them so that they don’t hurt you when they explode.
*In phase 1 when waiting for a vision to reach a white portal, strafe back and forth a bit so that Liadri’s projectiles miss you.
*Use the northernmost dome, where the white portals all spawn the same distance from the edge of the dome. The other domes have portals that spawn either really close to Liadri or half on the edge of the dome. (Really poor design, making only one dome suitable to fight Liadri in when we have to wait long enough already in the queue).
*Don’t attempt this at 4:00 in the morning when you’re sleep deprived.
*Have fun? I know I didn’t. I was shaking in the end. Didn’t even feel proud, just lucky and relieved. It’s got to be the most frustrating thing I’ve ever done in GW2 thus far, and that includes tier 4 candidate trials.
Finally nailed it at 7 AM or so. Probably around 60-70 attempts.
Thief, Carrion rares with 3 Sup Krait, 3 Major Afflicted, ’zerker weapons because I was too cheap to buy Carrion – D/P for P1, P/D for P2. Pistol had Agony.
Traits 20/0/30/20.
Used HiS, Spider Venom, Signet of Agility, Shadow Refuge, Thieves Guild. Basically a build someone posted, just used Agility for clutch dodges. Rare Veggie Pizza for food buff.
It’s frustrating as hell and I’ve found that possibly the greatest part of the fight is remaining completely calm. Panic, you’re screwed.
Ranger: 300 tries, 5 different builds, best try: 50% → gave up
Warrior: third try, GS/LB 0/30/20/0/20, full Magic Find gear, no bufffood.
Update 5.9.2013: getting better ANet, still way to go!
A Lannister always pays his debts – For everyone else, there’s Mastercard.
Completed it on a Ranger
Build 0/30/20/20/0 Full condition/toughness/precision set + accessories
Weapons Short bow and axe/torch
Precision Maintenance Oil and Dodge/fury food
Runes of Perplexity and Sigil of Geomancy/ sigil of earth
Torch #5 is nice for getting rid of the orbs and also dmging the boss if she is near
I found Runes of Perplexity on the armor were a huge help as when the boss whirls use short bow 5 to proc the #6 rune ability. Otherwise use strafe at a angle and use poison volley when up and she goes down nice and quick like.

I spent around somewhere 150 tickets before I finally got her! First 60 tries on my thief, a few on the guardian and then over and over with the necro until I got it!
It was really tricky at first, but then when I figured the pattern of the aoe out, it became really frustrating as well and I think my keyboard will have trauma for the rest of its life. Reason for the frustration was that my brain can give my tunnel vision when I get really focused on something, so when I reached the second phase, I was so into doing damage and avoiding the fields that I forgot about the third pull orb and that killed me over and over.
So, Neco!
20/30/0/20/0
Gear: condition/power/vitality
Superior runes of the Necromancer
Scepter and focus.
Consume conditions
Blood is Power, Signet of Spite, Signet of the Loctus.
Food: Bowl of Orrian truffle and meat stew
Finally completed it today after far too many attempts to count! I did it about 10 attempts after the one where I managed to get Liadri to have no visible health left, needing one more shot to die…. aaaaand I ran out of time and the floor dropped out on me.
Anyway, mine was nothing special, just persistence rather than skill. Using my usual build but just changed some relevant traits
Prof: Warrior. Full zerker gear (exotics) + ruby orbs
Sword/Warhorn (white weps ftw) & Rifle
20/20/0/0/30
III & IX (IX is useless here but so are the rest and too lazy to change)
VI & VII
V, VI & XII
40% endurance food, no util food
Utils: Balanced stance, endure pain (I didn’t need this but i whacked it on at the end anyway just in case something bad happened!), Signet of Stamina
Elite: Signet of Rage
Warhorn 4 to cure cripple, rifle 2 to try and keep Liadra crippled, strafe in circles running sideways
Once I got the strafing/kiting right I found that I had an overload of endurance anyway but I’d rather be safe than sorry.
I’d like to think i’m proof even your average PVE player can do it if they try hard enough, lol.

FINALLY got my pet. Did it on my warrior 0/30/30/0/10 with sword and shield and longbow as my weapons of choice.
Gear: Zerker (exos) with Ruby orbs
Arms traits
III
II
XI
Defense traits
IV
VIII
XII
Discipline traits
III
Skills
Healing Signet
Endure Pain
“Shake It Off!”
Signet of Stamina
Signet of Rage
Also had a Mango Pie for additional HP reign.
I think that P1 is very crucial to the timing of this fight. Once you know how the red circles move, it’s very easy and you can down the phase quick.
As for P2, once you get the timing down on the red spots, you will have an easier time kiting the mobs. If she gets near you at the start of p2, hit her with the sword, if she’s far away, smack her with the longbow skills. I just kept going back and forth with weapons and eventually got her down with longbow.
Shield skill #5 and Endure Pain are insurance policies if you have no endurance left and are in a red circle of doom.
You should have no problems with hp loss, maybe toward the end, but the heal sig and mango pie keep you very healthy through the fight.
And now, onto super awesome mini pet and not seeing this boss ever again.

I managed to finally beat her on my Mesmer today after a long grind costing me over 20 gold and 50-60 deaths. I tried several different builds recommended by others until i found the one that worked.
Prof = Mesmer
Build – 20/20/5/25/0
Domination Traits = Crippling Dissipation(V) and Greatsword Training(X)
Dueling Traits = Blade Training(IV) and Deceptive Evasion(X)
Inspiration Traits = Menders Purity(IV) and Temporal Enchanter(IX)
Weapons – Sword/Pistol + Greatsword
Food = Mango Pie + Superior Sharpening Stone
Heal = Mirror
Utilities = Blink, Mantra of Resolve and Feedback
Elite Skill = Timewarp
It took me five or six goes but i eventually got her, the fight itself isn’t hard, the first phase is easy once you memorize the AOE pattern and once you get the transition to phase 2 right… she’s a walk in the park! I hope this helps some people kill her! Good luck and have Fun!

0 /30 /0 /30 /10
heal Whithdraw
Utilities Roll for initiative, signet of agility , assasin signet.
Elite basilisk venom.
I had acces to many evades in weapons, traits, utilities and almost permavigor.
The serker gear made fase two very very fast
finally got her in 20-30 tires.
Warrior
gear: berserker armor (magic find trinkets), no runes, sword/shield and lb
healing signet, endure pain, signet of fury, signet of stamina, signet of rage
0/30/30/0/10
Furious Speed, Deep Cuts, Furious
Dogged March, Cleansing Ire, Defy Pain (forgot to change to Spiked Armor)
Signet Mastery
Food buffs: Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew, Master Tuning Crystal
Finally got it done on my Elementalist.
0/20/0/20/30
Scepter/Focus
Ether Renewal/Lightning Flash/Arcane Shield/Mist Form
Valkyrie’s armour and weapons, Cavalier’s trinkets
Took me a lot of attempts, and playing from Australia, a couple of niggling lag issues made it frustrating at times, but it feels good to finally get it done. It brought back memories of fighting Lady Vashj in WoW.
Full Zerker Warrior
Superior Sigil of Endurance on weapons
Axe/Shield – Rifle
0
25 (III/VII)
20 (II/IX)
10 (I)
15 (III)
Utilities: Healing Signet, For Great Justice, Shake it Off, Feel No Pain, Signet of Rage
Make sure you pop Signet of Rage as soon as she becomes active in Phase 2, hopefully you can down her by circle strafing with your rifle before the speed buff wears off. If she gets on you and Shake it Off is on CD and you can’t dodge, pop For Great Justice and Feel No Pain. Then just melee and hope she dies before you do.
Of course this strategy is completely dependent on not getting any unlucky orb spawns…
Easy on my Warrior!
30/20/20/0/0 – Greatsword/Rifle
Strength: Great Fortitude, Slashing Power, Berserker’s Power
Arms: Furious Speed, Crackshot
Defense: Dogged March, Last Stand
Traits: Healing Signet, Endure Pain, Shake It Off, SoS, SoR
Full Berserker Gear and Trinkets.
I went to an area that I knew would be clear, then tossed the last crystal at her for P1. Then popped Endure Pain, 100 Bladed her, then Whirlwind to a safe area through her. That knocked her down to about 25% health, and I swapped to rifle and finished her off. Didn’t have to even worry about the orbs due to Last Stand.
This fight is all about memorization, just make sure you know the pattern and you will be fine. But I did enjoy the fight!

Won on my first attempt with my condition necro:
Scepter/Dagger
0/30/20/20/0
Blood is Power, Epidemic (lol forgot to swap for Signet of Spite), Signet of the Locust, Flesh Golem
Fun fight overall. Got pulled by one orb but thankfully it wasn’t into any AoE. I ate a Rare Veggie Pizza for extra condition damage/duration.
Finally did it today on my Necromancer.
30/30/10/0/0 Full rabid gear
Scepter/dagger // Staff
Skills: Consume Conditions, Signet of Locust, Plague Signet, Well of Power, Lich Form
Lichform was the key to win for me in Phase 2 cause it´s autoattack don´t need line of sight to hit so just move clockwise around the outer circle while lich will do the job. Got her to about 20% health in lichform, rest finished off with staff signs just put them down and let her walk into it.
A full zerker Necro will be able to down her before lich runs out i think.
Took me about 50 tries on my Guardian before i gave up and switched to Necro there i did it on my third try
So all you fellow Necro´s don´t give up it´s pretty easy if you figure the pattern out.
Me and a friend got to beat her last weekend, he managed to kill her on Friday after playing almost all day/night since the patch dropped and I managed to kill her the next day, playing a lot more casual like 3hours/day since patch dropped.
We both roll a thief and we both used condition builds 0/0/30/20/20 with endurance regen traits and food, as well as regen health in stealth and move 50% faster in stealth.
I used to die a lot at the second crystal phase, because of all the mobs cornering me when I tried to get pull the mob in the second vortex. Then I realized that If I just wait in the opposite corner of the vortex till the mob spawn next to the vortex, I can then easily move to the right and thus the mob that will spawn there will go into the vortex. Then I used hide in shadows went to pick that crystal up, and pull the mobs to the 3rd vortex at which point I grabbed the crystal, used shadow refuge, thrown the crystal, popped thieves guild used skill 1of pistol/dagger to inflict bleeding then use skill 3 to inflict torment then mug which gave me stealth and use another stack of bleeding via skill 1,torment again and she was almost dead, then used hide in shadow, for stealth and applied the rotation above one more time and she died.
I can say it took me like 130 tries to get it done and 40g, but it was worth it.My friend used like 60-70g and like over 200 tries, we tried backstab builds but you need like 18k hp to survive there and thus backstab builds we’re a lot harder to achieve, thus ended using condi build with shortbow/pistol+dagger.The gold was used to buy condi armour + sigils + food + sprockets for tickets?
(edited by amax.8034)
Warrior with zerker traits 30-25-0-0-15 tanky gear with rune of the lyssa
GS/Longbow
Fear me, shake it off, endure pain, signet of rage.
Make sure to have the faster signet recharge and the cleanse cripple on heal traits
Phase 2 just kite clockwise on the edge of the room to the next safe area and shoot her with longbow, dont take to long, start running to the next safe zone well before the red circles appear. The 3rd skill can be fired backwards while moving, dont miss the pin down (needs to be in line of sight).
Always use GS on the pulling orbs, hence the 15 point in fasthands
Endure pain blocks the aoe but not the clones. i normally use fear me when picking up the last orb.
Vizier: 80 mesm-guard-ele-war
Fort Aspenwood
I finally beat her last night on my Ranger (30/25/15/0/0). Longbow/Shortbow. Full berzerker gear (mix of masterwork/rare gear).
It took 49 tries. But I made it. I think with my sub-par gear and the fact that as a ranger your pet is dead most of the fight, the trick apart from learning the patterns is that you have to squeeze out every bit of DPS that you can. There were 6 times where her health bar was completely black <1% health and I died to either time running out or a rift pulling me into shadow aoe.
So on try 48/49 I just ignored rifts in P2 and figured if I was unlucky enough to get pulled into shadow aoe by a rift, then so be it. Also you can kind of avoid a pull from the rift by staying on the other side of the arena. It means a bit more damage from Liadri, but if you dodge roll along that side, you should be able to stay there.
I’m so very relieved to have completed it. I have a better geared Warrior/Guardian/Thief, but I felt like my Ranger had an easier time through all the fights. I might just be bad at those other 3 classes though :x. I’m a pretty casual player.
Doubt I’ll try the extra orb Liadri achievement though, that’s for sure. This was painful enough and I’m done the meta now.
Just finished a bit ago on my Warrior.
Full zerk gear with strength runes with Axe/warhorn and rifle. For food I just used meat and winter veggie stew although you can invest in orrian truffle and meat stew if you so desire.
Trait spread was:
0 Strength
20 Arms:
Furious Speed (II) - swiftness on crit; definitely needed in my opinion to keep moving when you can’t remove cripple
Crack Shot (VII) - piercing rifle shots so you don’t have to worry about positioning shots around her visions which wastes time!! plus reduced recharge of your own cripple to keep her off ya
15 Defense:
Dogged March (II) - critical for reducing cripple duration
20 Tactics:
Leg Specialist (I) - combined with reduced recharge of aimed shot (cripple) you can immobilize her a lot
Shrug it Off (VII) - opens up free utility spot and removes cripple automatically, what’s not to like? lol
15 Discipline:
Vigorous Focus (V) - it was either this or warrior’s sprint, but I didn’t need anymore movement speed buffs because of warhorn spam
The 3 minor traits that are important in this spread, however, are:
Adrenal Health - regen based on adrenaline
Versatile Rage - 5 adrenaline on weapon swap
Fast Hands - -5 second recharge time for weapon swap
My slot skills were:
Healing Signet - extra regeneration
Endure Pain - invulnerability
Balanced Stance - extra swiftness if you need it, also popping a stance grants vigor with this build
Signet of Stamina - endurance recharge and cure all conditions
Signet of Rage - fury, might, and swiftness
I just used memory to master Phase 1, but also killed the 2nd rift before I threw the 3rd orb even if it wasted a bit of time – it will bite you in the kitten later.
In Phase 2, I just utilized the rifle and the traits/skills stated above to whittle her down while avoiding the half-dome AoE. Make sure to stay close to the center of the arena (not in the center though) as that is the smallest radius to keep out of her AoE. Moving counter-clockwise really helped with my finger flexibility in pressing skills.
You could also choose sword/shield for leap and blocks if you think you have enough movement speed.
Couple Tips
1) Save Rifle Butt for knocking her back. It is much easier and less stressful to swap to your melee set for rifts. It is so easy to miss Rifle Butt it isn’t even funny. Plus a swap to warhorn will allow you to grant vigor and swiftness to yourself; and there is no punishment due to the -5 seconds of swap time.
2) Do NOT, for the love of all that is holy, double dodge. You waste a lot of endurance if you double dodge out of panic. If you have to, then you have to. But it is much easier to learn how to time your dodges to evade the AoE even if you are right under it
The axe was pretty useless the entire fight. BUT when I knew I could finish her, I used Axe’s burst skill for a glamorous finish.
Don’t mind the armor, I liked the Dredge chest, shoulders, arms so I transmuted it for zerk stats.
Full zerk warrior
Rifle Mace/Shield (Only took 3 tries once I made this build) took 150+ tries as guardian/Warrior with GS.
Winning build was:
0/25/20/10/15 Rifle/Mace/Shield.
P1 I used mace/shield to kill rifts and if too many shadows spawned I’d use shield and run through them, bought me some space and time.
P2 I just kited her with rifle, it was pretty easy, once, again, when too many shadows spawned I’d use shield and mow them down, and killed the rift, and swapped back. I used Shake it off! Frenzy and Berserker stance.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Not anything to brag about really, but… I suppose you can take it as an example that if someone as bad/poor as me can do it, then you can as well. :p
Thief in full Berserker gear (Exotic, two ascended pieces). I used Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew (100% chance to gain 1 stack of Might when dodging, 40% faster endurance regeneration) as a consumable.
30 Acrobatics
Vigorous Recovery (III) – I wanted to be able to dodge often seeing as I felt like I was made of cake instead of flesh and bone if Liadri ever got a chance to smack me.
Fleet of Foot (VII) – Allows you to remove the dangerous conditions Liadri inflicts if you accidentally get hit without having to waste a skill slot (and far more often, to boot).
Assassins’ Reward (X) – Just to keep some healing and sustain going. Needless to say, I got hit rather often despite being able to dodge a lot.
20 Shadow Arts
Slowed Pulse (II) – I really only went this because I wasn’t using any Deception skills. Everything else feels rather useless considering that Stealth behaves rather kooky in the Queen’s Gauntlet in general.
Power Shots (VII) – I was primarily using my short bow, so the extra damage was appreciated.
20 Deadly Arts
Venomous Strength (IV) – For the damage, I was having issues with it.
Quick Venoms (VIII) – Again, higher poison up-time for the damage. I suppose I could’ve replaced either one with Potent Poison (V) as well.
Only used my Short Bow. All my other weapons were melee, which felt like a bad idea as a squishy Thief.
Skills
Withdraw – Low cooldown for high Vigour uptime and also grants an extra evade if things go hairy.
Spider Venom – Condition damage.
Skale Venom – More condition damage!
Scorpion Wire – For pulling clones so I could get to phase 2 quickly. I let the first and third walk normally into the zones of light, I pulled the second.
Thieves Guild – Some extra burst, though they’d usually die pretty quickly.
Rather simple strategy. Get through phase 1 as quickly as possible and then run around in circles while shooting down Liadri. Due to the jump/chain nature of the Short Bow’s auto-attack, my poison charges would usually end up being wasted on her clones, but I still managed to get her down shortly after I popped my venoms for the third time, so I suppose the battle took 2 minutes or so. The Short Bow’s second skill has the quirk of not being obstructed by the Orbs, meaning that you can safely take them out from range.
This strategy would’ve likely been less painful with a Carrion gear setup, some Tuning Crystals and if I could afford to go deeper into the Trickery tree, but the things you do when you can’t afford a new gearset at a whim. :p
Took over fifty tries but I finally did it. And my build isn’t optimized for zerking or the like.
Class: Warrior
Traits: 30/30/0/0/10 (Didn’t change from normal setup) 5-7-11/1-7-12/3
Weapons: Mace/axe, Longbow (Bought the longbow just for this)
Utilities: Healing Signet, Banner of Strength, Signet of Stamina, Endure Pain, Signet of Rage
Consumables(Yes I used them): Quality Tuning Crystal, Speed Booster, Strength Booster, Armor Booster
Gear:
Armor: 2 Carrion, 2 Explorer, 1 Zerker, 1 Knight
Accessories: Syzygy, Ring of Red Death, Explorer’s Compass, minor trinkets, rare Cavalier backpiece.
Strategy:
Phase one was pretty simple. Lure the shades to their points, but don’t lure the third one until I destroy the coming orb. Just when I throw the third crystal, pop Signet of Rage and throw down the banner in the middle of the arena.
Phase 2? Run and shoot. Mainly staying close to the middle to avoid having to run too far. Occasionally pop skill 3 at an orb if I saw it. That was pretty much it.
Finally after over 103 attemps. I Beat her!
I was on my Warrior using 30/30/0/10/30
Oddly enough, I switched to Mace/Shield for 1st Phase
then Rifle for second Phase.
I was using 40% endurance regen food. Endurance signet, stability stance, endure pain and signet of rage
As soon as I hit that 3rd orb it was all about Crack Shot for piercing rounds and keeping her crippled while kiting
Haven’t felt this good since 25Man Heroic Lich King

DONE!! Took me about 130 attempts, I found it very difficult on my Mesmer.
Prof = Mesmer
Build – 20/20/5/25/0
Domination Traits = Crippling Dissipation(V) and Greatsword Training(X)
Dueling Traits = Phantasmal Fury(II) and Deceptive Evasion(X)
Inspiration Traits = Menders Purity(IV) and Temporal Enchanter(IX)
Weapons – Sword/Focus + Greatsword
Food = [Might/Energy Regen] + Superior Sharpening Stone
Heal = Mirror
Utilities = Blink, Mantra of Resolve and Decoy
Elite Skill = Timewarp
I Initially tried Dulfy’s build using sword and Pistol/Focus, and timed out a few times with that, getting her to 15% a couple of times.
I consider myself a moderately hardcore player, and was upset when my friends started completing this challenge but I could not – perhaps it’s because I usually play more defensively/supportive with Staff (?), but I had a helluva time with this fight and I’m super proud I have completed it after about 8-9 hours of “practice”. My gear is 75% berzerker, Hoelbrak runes, with some toughness/vitality mixed in (around 3250 dmg iirc).
To those still working on this, GL! I finished 11 achievements, and I have no intention of trying to get the Light up the Darkness one… y’all can have that

Warrior
Sword+Shield for phase 1. Used shield block to take out groups of the death adds prior to the third throw.
Rifle for Phase 2. Ran in a circle, moved to the centre when I am pressured to get to the next area. Used Rifle but to take out orbs.
I must admit my victory wasn’t the most professional, but lucky, hilarious, and I’m kitten proud of it.
Mesmer – 25/30/5/0/10 (Yeah, no points to Inspiration… the fellow mesmer with whom we helped each other – and both of us finished – told me that there was a nifty trait in the Vitality line >.>), Sword & Focus, Greatsword
Clones (Decoy and Mirror Images) help a lot, as they divert the visions and Liadri’s attention. During phase 2 I had two miraculous rallies (ran out of my Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew in phase 1, lol), turned Liadri into a moa (she couldn’t cripple me for 10 seconds!), then my Illusionary Berserkers and Wardens did the rest. Kept shooting her with Spatial Surge whenever I felt relatively safe – which wasn’t much. When I was ported out to the ring alive I could only hear my racing heart and feel the swirling in my head.
Also, the best part in it was the cooperation and unity of mesmers that Lyssa would be infinitely proud of. I met the aforementioned sylvari mesmer after both of us just got offed by Lady Liadri, and offered her to team up for reviving and easy targeting. With the conjoined mesmer spirit I defeated Liadri on my first attempt, and she also prevailed a couple of tries later.
#TeamMesmer 4ever
P.S.: We don’t slay Liadri, just like she didn’t kill us those thousands of times. I suggest changing the topic title to Darkness Illuminators’ Club.
A fantasy of sci-fi cyborg implants grafted into the desiccated flesh of Guild Wars’ corpse.
Guard: 0/30/0/30/10 scepter/focus (sigisl of perception/strength), full zerk with scholar runes
Food: hardened sharpening stone (5%/3% power from vit/tough)/butternut squash (+80 pre/8% crit dam). Yes I was cheap.
No. of attempts: on guard, 10 tries, overall ~25 between three characters.
Key Secret to Success: turned down all my gfx settings…
I could finally see the aoe circles and not get blinded. Followed pattern on floor that allowed me to only dodge to get away from her clones in p1 and in p2. P2 I just made sure I only moved enough around the room kiting so I can end up in safe areas without needing dodge. Saved dodges for sudden pulls by ball. Ranged kited, popped heal/utilities (Shelter, SYG, HTL, Retreat, Renewed Focus) when appropriate (PoV specced). I definitely had time to spare.
Figure I might as well.
Guardian, about 20 to 40 tries (eyeballed, wasn’t counting).
Full zerker armor and trinkets, knight’s staff and zerker scepter and shield on switch. Shout build. Full build and gear here
Basically, run the first part with staff for swiftness and AoE attacks, great for destroying orbs without much fuss and constantly tagging Liadri and clones with crits for perma-vigor.
When she switches to the second part, switch to scepter and shield and DPS, giving yourself protection whenever possible, and cleaning her weakness/cripples when needed.
This build gives you several “life savers”.
First you have shelter, that blocks everything for 3 seconds – this includes AoE and clones. It’s a good “get out of jail free” card if you mess up, in a pinch, or if you just want to clear all the shadows. And you have it every 30 seconds.
Second is Renewed Focus. This elite will not only recharge your virtues (giving you an extra heal and block), but most importantly render you completely invulnerable, acting as a secondary “get out of jail free” card, like shelter. Unfortunately it has a much higher cooldown, so use shelter first when available.
Retreat and Virtue of Courage will both give you access to single use Aegis letting you block a single AoE or clone. Retreat is also used in the second phase for additional swiftness access and condition clear.
Finally you have Shield of Absorption. It does nothing to stop the AoE, but neither Liadri nor her clones have any kind of stability, so if you need some room to breath pop it quickly. I used it a lot at the very last crystal of phase 1, when several shadows tend to crowd around. It’s also a neat heal and can be used to block Liadri’s normal auto attacks on phase 1 if you need/want.
Goodluck.

Don’t forget to turn off Post Processing prior to entering arena to eliminate the unnecessary blind across your screen.
Phase 1 – Keep reflects up on Liadri while doing crystals, wiggle back and forth if reflects are on CD to throw off her attacks
Phase 2 – Hounds of Balthazar right before last crystal + Focus 5 when she jumps at you and does her whip/spin attack for great initial burst, swap to Pistol kite & drop pistol phantasm (feedback + pistol phant = Confusion + Bleeds). Arcane Thievery as necessary, Focus 4 to cripple, alternate between Focus Phant & Pistol Phant with Feedback to keep her crippled, bleeding, & confused. If close to downing her you can Illusionary Leap + Swap —> Blurred Frenzy --> Mind Wrack for a final burst but it’s not without risk.
I ended up not needing Arcane Thievery or Decoy in the run, but they’re handy for cleansing cripple and relieving pressure/getting distance between you and Visions/Liadri, respectively.
Talk about an adrenaline rush! My heart was pounding and my arms were literally shaking afterwards for a good 5-10 minutes.

Managed it on my necromancer (forgot to count the number of tries but it was rather high I’d say somewhere between 50 and 70)
20/20/10/20/0 (build not optimized for the chosen skills)
Did it by throwing my standard way of fighting aside and using my secondary weapon set (scepter and focus) with Consume Conditions, spectral walk, signet of spite and signet of the locust.
Strangely enough it was a change of arena that made this fight for me (got her on my third try after the change of venue). I picked the northernmost arena after I don’t know how many attempts on the one just right of it. Both arenas follow the same pattern but the northernmost has its second well slightly further from the wall of the arena thereby making it easier to chain throws two and three at Liadri with as a consequence that I got out of phase one in the shortest possible time.
After that it was just a matter of running around the arena while hitting Liadri with the scepter attack which combined with the conditions brought by the Sigil of Spite did her in in relatively short time.
Mesmer: Solider Gear with Mesmer runes
No Food
Great sword/ pistol-scepter
20/20/30
Focused traits around interrupts, manipulation, and range of pistol skills; however, other variations with the traits could include pooping clones out for invulnerable shatter and crippling opponents when clones are killed. (I switched back and forth a lot)
Utilities were Blink and the mantras for interrupting and condition removal.
Elite skill was Time Warp.
This isn’t a feedback required fight. You can dodge the grasping hands by taking two-three steps right then one step left (for example). Orb cannot be smacked by the scepter or pistol, so it’s best to keep your sword ready for most of the fight. One nice thing about the GS is, when you’ve kited one clone into the whirlpool but have several other following behind it, you can use the knock back to grab your crystal and run.
When phase two hits, summon the zerker and interrupt her spin. If traits are based around interrupts she’ll be immobilized (and crippled) for a short period, giving you time get your barrings. If her AoE doesn’t kill your zerker/pistol phantom right away, she’ll possibly focus her whip on the poor thing, giving you time to pewpew. Just keep cripple up on her, and interrupt, dodge, blink, cleanse when you need to.
IMPORTANT: Do not rush this fight. Focus on the execution of skills.
… With the conjoined mesmer spirit I defeated Liadri on my first attempt, and she also prevailed a couple of tries later.
You beat Liadri on 1 attempt!?!? /bow! I have to say I find that hard to believe though!
Were I to guess, I’d say about 60 tries.
Mesmer 20/20/0/30/0
greatsword/sword-focus
All and all I enjoyed the challenge and the mechanics. My biggest problem was getting out of my own way. I tried to rush the fight to many times.
I finally beat her on my mesmer after millions of tries on both the mesmer and my warrior and a handful on my thief. I used sword/focus and greatsword and just kited her around in phase 2 swapping between the i-zerker and i-warden. I don’t think I did any damage to her personally.
Took me about 70 tries, but I finally conquered her!! Approximate spec is here:
This is not optimized, as I was also going for budget (all green armor/accessories) on my engie (it was too hard to maintain vigor on my ele, as it requires getting crits). The key aspect here is the perma-vigor/swiftness from kit swapping as well as the superior sigil of energy. After 3 crystals, I made sure to keep as many condis on her as possible and just worked my way around the room. I did get lucky with one phantom res from out of nowhere, but got close a lot of times and was due!. Flamethrower also makes taking out the orb way easier b/c targeting it is very hard (its selection box is very small).
I was so excited when I finally tamed her! It did feel really cheap after a while, and I kept having to go earn a few more tickets by joining the zerg.
Oh, my goodness. This fight took me over 200 tries, no lie (I initially tried it on my ranger main). However, I finally got it on my condition necromancer! My hands are still shaking, lol.
Gear: Carrion exotic with runes of the undead x6
Weapons: Scepter/focus (Signet of earth/hobbling)
Accessories: Carrion w/ exquisite chrysocola jewels
Food: Koi cakes, potent master tuning crystal
Build: 30/30/0/10/0 (IV, X, XI), (II, X, XI), (0), (V), (0)
Utilities: consume conditions, well of power, signet of spite, signet of the locust, and plague for the elite.
Phase 1: I used DS to avoid being smacked with necrotic grasp and waited out the aoe falls before pulling the visions into the pools. Made sure to be on the right side of Liadri so I could start in a counter-clockwise motion in phase 2.
Phase 2: Used signet of spite right off the bat and ran, while casting focus #5 and scepter #1 (used this repeatedly as my main attack to keep up bleeding/poison); used focus #5 when available. When I could not heal with consume conditions, I used well of power to get rid of any conditions she threw on me. With food and my tuning crystal I had a good 70% condition duration ..
I’ll admit I did cry about the red circles sometimes not being very visible, but I got lucky and everything went my way for this one fight (not even a single problem from the orbs; they helped me, rather). Now that it’s over, though, I actually kind of enjoyed the fight! I’ve never felt so super excited over defeating anything in this game ever. Thank you for an awesome gauntlet !
Edit: Forgot to mention about the rifts! To get rid of them easily, use scepter #2 and you can just throw that on ‘em while moving so you don’t lose your rhythm.

Wooohooo finally did it.
Thief 10/0/20/20/20, using mug, shadow protector, shadows embrace, vigorous recovery, fleet of foot, uncatchable and bountiful theft.
P/D, withdraw, signet of shadows, caltrops, shadow refuge and thieves guild with carrion/rabid gear.
264… I don’t give up easily!
Thief 15/30/0/25/0
V/V,VI,XI/III,VII
Withdraw, Shadow Refuge, Spider Venom, Signet of Shadows, Thieves Guild
SB/PP
SB phase 1, PP phase 2 switching for cluster bomb on orbs.
SR on last crystal allowed me to take my time and set up for the run of phase 2.
I stacked poison and bleeds then kited her.
Steal gave more stealth for more bleeds.
The mini is sweet but having finally won is far sweeter! Don’t give up.

Finally got her head,
Traits (0/25/10/30/5)
Greatsword
Sword
Focus
40% endurance food
Maxdeepsgaming from youtube his build really helped me a lot
The greatsword just makes a lot of things easier for me that leap can really save you a lot of times from death.
Full zerker gear
patience and more patience you will beat her, if you go into desperation mode just take a small break have some tea or coffee analyse your errors, have a new plan then come back or it will make things worse at least it was for me.
Just beat that kitten then. ran full zerker static discharge on my Engi.
[Blud] Blood Hammer
Just beat her after many, many tries. My reflexes aren’t the best, but I did it in the Flame Legion arena, on thief, with 10-0-30-20-10. Traits were mug (damage orb on steal), regen on stealth, blind on stealth, and heal while in stealth. I also had caltrops on dodge from 10 in stealing, +50% movement speed in stealth, and dodge to remove weakness/cripple in acrobatics.
Weapons and armor were a mix of mostly carrion and zerker stuff with 5 krait runes + 1 chry orb. I ran P/D. Utilities were spider venom, shadow refuge, and signet of shadows. I had 1100ish condi damage with about 17k health.
In hindsight, I spent a lot less time in stealth than I had thought, so I think I probably went overboard with all the stealth stuff. I used to run blinding powder like JustinProCrew’s guide, but I found that I couldn’t damage Liadri fast enough (likely due to my inexperience).
Couldn’t remember much of the fight, to be honest, other than staying calm really helps. I mug the orbs as they come up instead of C&D (again, I’m a bad thief), but it worked well enough for me to get the mini.
Last thing I think is to not get frustrated. At the end of the day, this is just a game. :P I usually give her about 5-10 tries a day, and if I fail, I log out and go do other things.
