Liadri Slayer Club
Thief, p/d condition build. Probably tried alot over 50 times shortbow and my normal build then after about 10 or so tries I was able to beat her with p/d condition build.
i defeated liadri
also, nerf liadri
the end.. have a nice day
Finally done with my engineer:
20: III – VIII
0
10: I
30: I – IX -X
10: VI
Berserker gear (5 runes of citadel + beryl orb)
Skills: [Elixir H – Exlixir B, Flamethrower, Bomb Kit – Supply Crate]
Phase 1: flamethrower for orbs
Phase 2: Running in circles and dropping bombs
I thought I had beeen defeated when I saw the reward. I was never able to see how much life she had.
Liadri is epic. Anyway, I think there are some design flaws here, as I’ve pointed just some days ago —> https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/jubilee/I-like-Liadri-a-lot/first#post2606124
P.S.: 8 orbs? nah, perhaps in 2014
“Guild wars is for everybody, freedom is ascended, zerg is strength”
~ G. Orrwell, great shaman of the new flame legion, 1984 AE.
Finally did it on a Sword/Horn warrior wearing zerker’s gear (Not optimal but I didn’t want to pay for a new set of CD gear.) Rallying off the visions as much as possible was key along with the trait giving you more health on rally.
Colin Johanson on how arenanet measures success.
(Please no gear treadmills, Colin!)
Mesmer
Usual Reflection Mesmer, not berserker though
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgEQNAsdRlwzqqHTTkGg9IxpHQf5TnkCVn6SKwNvB-jQCBYLCiUggEBBK9pIasVMFRjVVLyKbYKXJV7CQGgqFA-e
Phase 1 : Use focus and Feedback alternatively to reflect projectiles. Use #2 in case of emergency
Phase 2 : Switch to GS, run in circle, use #1 and #4 for damage, #2 to create a clone to divert liandri, #5 to control her. To get rid of conditions : mantra, healing skill (traited), or shatter one clone (traited). Use blink in emergency.
Went pretty smooth after I switched to that build, but failed a lot with Sw/P before.
I might be the only Elementalist in this thread who defeated Liadri using the Staff. It took me about 50 tries or so, but I eventually mastered the fight. However, I definitely can’t recommend utilizing the staff for this fight, as you’d be much better off with D/D or S/D.
(edited by Elektrolysis.1569)
After 2 weeks of sweat, tears, emotional roller coasters and multiple build attempts, i finally did it. (3 crystals, yea i know this was painful enough for me, not even gonna dream about eight)
Thief
The winning build: 20/30/0/20/0
DA: Mug, Sundering Strikes
CS: Furious Retaliation, Signet Use, Executioner
Ac: Vigorous Recovery, Fleet of Foot
Weapon: Shortbow ONLY
Utilities:
Withdraw, Signet of Agility, Signet of Shadows, Shadow Refuge, Thiefs Guild
Gear:
Soldier armor (except for Knight legs) with all Emerald Orbs
Full Zerker trinkets (4 ascended)
Strategy:
Cluster Bomb to get rid of orbs (Mug works too but i stopped using it. Switching targets seemed to bring too much hassle and CB did the job on the run).
As mentioned in other thief strategies on here, pop Shadow Refuge on 3rd crystal, wait for CDs and gain breathing room, pop Thiefs Guild.
Basically just kite in a wide circle with SB the rest of the fight, dodge when necessary. Feline Grace, Vigorous recovery and Signet of Agility makes sure you never run out of endurance really. SB skill #3 as a backup when endurance is low. Again, CB for orbs and some bleed damage.
Some thoughts:
As a thief, i believe this fight is really about sustainability more than some other classes due to our fragile nature. You really have to make the most of it and Soldiers gear with Emerald Orbs i found almost a necessity. Going full Zerker i seemed to run out of HP and heal more often than not, even before the 2nd phase.
This is kiting contest and takes some patience from the thief (and some luck with Orb placement of course, regarding the nature of the mechanics).
(Note: this strategy is a combination of other thief strategies already posted, so i’m not taking credit for the strategy really. Thanks goes out to all of those who helped with posting thier strategies, thieves and non-thieves)
guardian 0/10/30/30/0 in hindsight I should have 10 in virtues for vengeful instead of blind exposuer. I had full berserker gear and just used a blackberry pie for lifesteal.
P1 As soon as I entered I use SYG so I don’t get instantly pulled, the retaliation kills the orb as well. I used my staff to keep hitting the shadows or liandri herself to give myself vigor and AH procs. Using symbol of swiftness whenever I remember.
P2 is just kiting with scepter and focus and staying away from shadows and aoe, retaliation did a lot of damage for me. PoV is really helpful for converting cripple into more swiftness or weakness into might. Other skill I had was retreat. Took a couple of tries after I figured out the patterns. I used shelter and renewed focus when I was out of dodge and about to get hit by aoes.
Mesmer
Sword/Focus + Greatsword / HP regen food
Heal of choice + Phantasmal Defender, Phantasmal Disenchanter (for cripple and weakness), and Blink.
Also Time Warp to speed up the damage process. I learned very quickly to NEVER use Moa on her – her damage shoots through the roof.
About 20-30 tries.
I beat it as a Scepter/Dagger Necromancer! 30/30/0/10/0. Will post full build later. Got it in under 20 tries
Yes… the grin wont come off for a few days at least.
Grenade Engi in full Nightmare/Undead runes, Sup Sigil of Fire…
V, VI, XI
III
0
II, X
VI
Quidquid Latine Dictum Sit, Altum Videtur
I’m at work so I don’t remember my exact trait setup but:
Beat Liadri using condition engineer- dual pistol, full bar of elixirs + supply crate
^^ I had dual pistol. Pistol 2 and 4 drop her like a sack of spuds.
Quidquid Latine Dictum Sit, Altum Videtur
FINALLY GOT HER!!!!!
i took the build that was posted by whoever killed her(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uktlyg9yBDo&feature=youtu.be), i used x3 rabid/carrion gear with rabid seals, ramp sbow, with +condi duration food / pericision oil.
Kaiji Ruko – 80 Ranger, Revanat Shadowdeath – 80 Necromancer
FINALLY GOT HER!!!!!
Just had to take a moment to point towards the emotion going on in the chat window. Because I’m pretty sure most people here felt that way. And the glow lasts for a long time.
Congrats!
Quidquid Latine Dictum Sit, Altum Videtur
You know what we need right now? A Liadri wallpaper with her head on a pike or something like that
FINALLY GOT HER!!!!!
Just had to take a moment to point towards the emotion going on in the chat window. Because I’m pretty sure most people here felt that way. And the glow lasts for a long time.
Congrats!
hahaha Thanks, i felt like whiting that out, but i thought meah we all felt that way so i’ll keep it there (nvm being lazy). Its up there for me with WoW’s Heroic Ragnaros (pre nerfs) kill excitement.
Kaiji Ruko – 80 Ranger, Revanat Shadowdeath – 80 Necromancer

Lightened up the darkness today
with my full berserker – static discharge – engineer, using rifle turret/toolkit/bombkit
did ift after around 40 trys in a row ^^
I was away for most part of this LS, so I thought I’ll just skip gauntlet, then I decided to give it a try…
It all took me ~4h (Liadri alone 2h), but that was great
I did it on ranger. I was too lazy to change build, so I ran with my 30/25/15/0/0, only replaced LB with SB and changed utilities to have sig of stone, LR and 25% run sig. Also, equiped zerk trinkets, but left PTV armor.
Biggest problem for me was time limit. In this fight my pet simply didn’t exist, so I was kitten since beginning and worried I won’t be able to do it, but in the end, thanks to SB (epic weapon for this fight), I made it pretty quickly.
I’ll admit I was happy after it, but it still lacks to feeling after some WoW raid bosses. Tho it’s on the good way
Just completed Light Up The Darkness (8 orbs) as a mesmer. Must of burned through over 260+ tickets spread out across my alts for this achievement.

Finally did it :-)
On my warrior, specced 0/20 (II; VII)/15 (II)/20 (I;VII)/15 (V) with axe/shield and rifle.
Utilities were Healing Signet, Balanced Stance, Endure Pain, Signet of Stamina and Signet of Rage.
Took me about 35 attempts total, 5 with a Zerker Mesmer, 15 with a condition thief and 15 with this warrior build :-)

The fight was really rewarding, its very good to see this kind of content here. Good job ANet
Necromancer. Standart Condioton build. All Champions in 15 min =)

FINALLY! I can join the club!!!!
I can’t said how many times i tried, that doesn’t matter, all that means is that SHE’S DEAD!
Class: Elementalist
Traits: 25 (II, IX) / 15 (VI) / 0 / 10 (V) / 20 (V, VII)
Weapons: Dagger (Minor Sigil of Malice), Scepter (Major Sigil of Energy)
Heal Skill: Ether Renewal
Support Skills: Mist Form, Seal of Air, Seal of Fire
Elite: Reaper of Grenth (Human)
Gear: changed for this event, i have 3 Ascalon pieces with Healing Boost atributes and monk runes, and 3 pieces from COF with Baelfire runes. My rings and amulets are yellow and orange, two pinky ones, one with magic find, the other with power.
What i did: I tried to boost my condition damage as much as i can, that’s why i also revive at the center of the pabillion everytime i died to talk again with the flam Chaar to have his boom, i also eat Meat and Winter Vegetable stew and Artisan Attuning Crystal. At the beggining of the fight just try to keep your health at the top, since this build leave me with only 16k hp and 2k of armor my hp decreased very fast. After the first phase i use Grenth’s Reaper to add chill and poison to any copy and also to Liadri when she came after me. Before start to hit her, i take care of be placed in a safe spot, so when the black tears started to fall i can look behind and use Fire Sigil on Liadri to start adding burns to her, then all is run in circles, and use the cure to remove conditions if she use them on you, also a lot of Phoenix to gain Vigor and also damage Liadri if she’s near (Quick Dragon’s Tooth and Phoenix at this moment).
Basically i kill her with burns, and a bit of 1 of Arc lightning that i used when i needed to use air attunement for quickness
I hope my experience helps someone to beat her!
ok here is how i defeated her
Traits 20/20/0/0/30
weapons: GS Sword/focus
food: mango pies
Utilitys Blink, prayor to Komier, arcane thevory
Elite: hounds of bathazar
the part that was messing me up the most wich is why i went condi removal was cripple when she crippled me it was pretty much game over because her clones can catch up to me and 1 shot me.
came down to the whire with the announcer saying 5..4 (started to run at her)..3..2..1 (hit F1 mind wrack) the floor droped and i was teleported back with the chest ringing at me.
(edited by Kenage Achalarus.4276)
just did it with my warrior.
happy.
using spiked armor defensive style.
now to try the 8 orbs achievement.
Warrior with rifle and sword/warhorn 30/30/0/0/10 with some bleed/zerg gear not sure it was the best build for the job as I literally kill her on the last second
And the fight would be lot more fun if they fix the camera view so you can max zoom out, cant tell you how many time I run backwards on a add or didt see that rift spam….
Finally did it with my warrior. Not fun at all and horrible content, terrible camera loads of bugs, hardly any skill required just luck and lame cheap lazy mechanics. terrible content.
If it wasn’t for the dodgy camera, terrible design and bugs would of done it a lot earlier.
Well, after about a 100-200 attempts (slow learner I guess) Liadri is off my list.
It’s really weird because at the start of this year I stopped doing challenging content and went full casual.
Dungeons got tiresome for me, fractals I enjoyed but got so many dc’s so i stopped doing them… Went on to level alts and do whatever casuals usually do.
When Queen’s Jubilee started I focused on achievements that were easy to get and thought: “i’ll try Queen’s gauntlet just to see how far I can get, then move on to something else”.
But, somehow in the process, I got “obsessed” with beating Liadri.
It was soul crushing (for me), but i just couldn’t let it go.. Not a “very good player” – we’ll see about that Anet!!
When i look at it now, it took me so many tries because I was overwhelmed with everything that is trying to kill you in phase 2.
Got in the “zone” and saw it could be done, only cost was my sanity (not that I’m sane to begin with :P). But, the positive outcome of all this madness was that i got to know my profession better!
Build is basically what I call a “headless chicken” – engi bomb build – running from aoe to aoe and droping bombs.
Power/vitality/condition damage armor, superior runes of the adventurer, rabid back piece, “call of the wild” amulet, berserker and cleric rings, karka and cleric earrings.
10/30/0/20/10 – [III / II, IV, XII / I, IX / VI]
berserker pistol with superior sigil of force and berserker shield with superior sigil of energy
elixir H, bomb kit, tool kit, elixir B, supply crate
quality tunig crystal, super veggie pizza
Now I need to find someone to slap me the next time i get the idea to do hardcore content.
Yep!
I just beat her with my Ranger! I thought I’d never do it…
8 orbs finally done =)
Thief p/d
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQoitdGobKY
Big thanks to JustinProCrew – I took his build and modded it slightly.
was missing damage up until the very end where i beat her with 2 secs remaining!
I can finally join the club. I did it yesterday and it felt good
Profession: Thief
Traits: 25/0/0/20/25
Weapons used: Pistol/dagger
What really helped me during phase 2 was skill #2: body shot. That extra vulnerability on her did the trick for me and i first moved to a safe area to spawn my 2 thieves so they didn’t get killed right away. After that it was trying to make sure i can get as much stealth as i can for stealth skill #1: Sneak attack. The bleeding is awesome and you can keep it going by simply shooting at her after the stealth is gone .
I mixed my own playstyle with that of a youtube vid i saw about a thief showing how to kill Liadri. The only advice i can give you is always stick to your own favorite playstyle or mix it a bit with someone elses. The youtube vid i saw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWdac-LBPwM
0/5/30/30/5 Guardian with scepter/focus + GS, AH + shout build. Took a lot of tries but beat her and later on managed to get “light up the darkness” achievement.
Really though fight, if a bit infuriating at start with all the oneshots. Generally a very nice piece of content, would like to see more like this. Love the idea of harder to get achievements, more should be implemented in general PvE!
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”
Condition Necromancer… it took me about 40 attemps, but it is so great feeling now.
Finally have the Liadri with 8 orbs achievement, used a thief 0/20/30/20/0:
SB + P/P (Cluster Bomb for chaos orbs, Disabling Shot for evasion, pistol for damage)
20 critical strikes for pistol mastery, 30 shadow arts for shadow’s rejuvination, but 20 for Feline Grace & Fleet of Foot were the main reason I made it.
great to see that many different builds work
After a lot of tries, I too can now join this club.
My build was an S/D ele with Signet of Air, Signet of Water (for the passives) and Mist Form.
Personally though, I have no illusions I’ll be able to get the 8 orb achievement. I’m just not skilled enough for that.
As for the feedback, I still do not like instant-kill mechanics. It just makes the gear and build choice so trivial. Why pick defense when it’s negated at the moments it really matters?
Engi
30/0/0/10/30
P/S toolkit, elixir c, elixir s, crate, medkit
Killed that kittening kitten!
Elementalist (0/10(II)/30(IV, X, XI)/0/30(V, VII, XI))
Endurance-Bleed Build.
Weapon: S/F
Utility:Ether Renewal, Signet of Earth, Mist Form, Armor of Earth.
Elite: Glyph of Elementals (use it as a way to distract liadri if you need to get space between you and her or just heal while she is aggroed on the elemental).
I am highly satisfied with this achievement (after trying to killer her for the past 16 days, +constant traiting and retraiting and eventually trying a new build overall). Though I’d never be able to do it, but my tenacity and determination proved otherwise. Now I can put this on the scoreboard on my Legendary Achievements.
Proof of my victory:
I am here to take my place among the elite few. Took me 86 tickets and much blood, sweat and so, so many tears, but I FINALLY did it! I used Healix’s 0/30/30/0/10 build with Sword/Shield. Used a Quality Tuning Crystal and Mango Pies to aid with health regen (and it still almost wasn’t enough!), as well as a bunch of boosters to pad the odds in my favour.
Victory actually came as a complete surprise to me. I was too busy hobbling between Shadowfall borders and desperately swinging at Liadri whenever she came into range. I didn’t even have time to look at Liadri’s health when I heard the Announcer start the final countdown. I’d resigned myself to another failure when Liadri suddenly collapsed and the achievement/chest popped up.
The taste of victory… is sweet indeed.
I think I’ll leave Light Up the Darkness for the next time the Gauntlet returns though. I was lucky enough to defeat Liadri while still using mostly sub-standard gear (a mix of level 78/79/80 Greens).
Did it with engi, 17tries
30/0/0/10/30
pistol for phase 1
grenades for phase 2
used med kit, grenades, elixir C and mango pie
It was pretty easy once you realise that the aoe is always in the same hourglass pattern.
Yay i can join now!
Warrior
Sword/Sheild Phase 1
Rifle Phase 2
0/30/30/0/10
Healing Signet/For Great Justice/Shake it off/Dolyak signet/signet of rage
It Took about 50 Tries and over 100 for me to get it, i tried different builds and such not, ended with warrior. Pretty much at phase 2 Ran backwards with a Rifle and shot her to death, very simple. Also i can not take full Credit for this Build, since i did find it on the forum, i change one skill. The Build was posted by XanBie.3675. So ya this build make her pretty much easy, just gotta have the timing down with where to be at the right time.
I finally killed her yesterday after going through at least 100 tickets and 3 different classes. Finally managed it with Healix’s defensive warrior build, although, I had a difficult time hitting her in P2 with a sword and ended up switching to rifle for some of it.
I wish I could say I felt the same exhilaration others have expressed, but all I really felt was relief it was finally over. It was one of the most miserable gaming experiences I’ve ever gone through (the 8 orb achievement can suck it), but I was determined to get it done. Hopefully next time I won’t be trolled into thinking overcoming a bunch of one shot mechanics, RNG, and visual limits equates to player skill.
I don’t have any pictures yet since I just did it and my game is on a different comp, but I finally did it after 500+ attempts and about 160 gold for making my Mesmer and Guardian level 80 with full gear. I even tried using my Ele for it since she’s my main, but that ended in flames xD My one guildie baby-step’d me through it for my Guardian; Knight’s/Zerker/Cleric gear socketed for boon duration and 0/0/30/30/10 traits. Most of my strategy was using Retaliation on her the whole fight and then using Scepter 1 in phase two. I was so determined to beat her since I play to escape the fact that I can’t do much IRL due to disability… I feel so awesome now that I finally did it C:
Warrior with greatsword/longbow going 0/20/0/20/30 picking up the greatsword and longbow traits.
Greatsword for killing orbs and for the clutch dodge (whirlwind attack). Longbow for killing Liadri in phase two, the blind is also great.
Healing signet, FGJ, SIO, signet of stam, signet of rage.
Exotic Knight’s armor with soldier’s runes. Exotic berserker weapons. Half ascended, half masterwork berserker jewelery. No food buff or sigils.
Great fight, actually took some time to learn and master it before getting the kill, really wish there was more challenging content like this in the game.
Now I just need Light Up The Darkness.
Necromancer with a custom condition build, scepter/dagger and staff. Took about 15-20 tries if I remember correctly.
Hard to complete, extremely satisfying to do so.
Only thing I wish was that we weren’t fighting her in a dome. The camera angles flipping around were the cause of most of my failures.
One of the best content for me in the game!
Guardian – 0,30,0,30,10
Full zerkers gear
Basically just brazils dps build but with scepter instead of sword and save yourselves instead of hold the line.
Pure of voice was bugged so the double condition removal was nice.
Took about 20-25 attempts
Necromancer, 0,30,20,20,0
Undead / Rabid armor gearing
Scepter,Dagger / Staff
Used Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew
Once I understood that being near the edge of the dome was BAD BAD BAD and that being about halfway to the center was a happier place, phase 2 was more manageable.
Used Blood is Power, Deathly Swarm and then just conditioned her using all the available skills as much as I could while backtracking from safe spot to safe spot. I ended up being downed, but she died from the conditions.
Gentle
(Took way too many attempts overall though…)
I AM SO THRILLED TO FINALLY JOIN THIS CLUB
I beat her last night, with assistance from this guy:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYIedfHmFwk
After trying for hours on end all week, after what I’m sure was 200+ tickets, across various professions (Mesmer, Thief, Ranger and Warrior) I finally beat her on my warrior running 0/20/15/20/15 (0/II,VII/II/I,VII/V)
Greatsword / Rifle.
Skills: endure pain, balanced stance and signet of stamina.
I literally had 20 seconds to go an she had about 5% health left but with a nice Rifle Butt to the face I took her down the moment it happened I leapt out of my chair in victory!
The amount of money I wasted on tickets and repairs I’m sure was a lot but so worth it. To anyone who hasn’t beat her yet but is determined to: KEEP TRYING! If you do it enough times you’ll eventually memorize the battle enough to WIN!
