Loading screen times increased
I noticed exactly the same thing.
Every loading screen is way longer than before. Even those that are on the same instances (let’s say in a dungeon) are longer than before (whereas before they were quite quick). It could be considered as not a big deal, but a bit annoying in the end.
Yep, loading takes a lot more time than before.
Definitely. Much longer than before. Hope this is fixed soon.
edit: Nevermind, i misunderstood the topic.
Can also confirm longer loading screens. They weren’t exactly short before either.
Not only does it take 2x as long, I come onto the map with stuff STILL rendering. I end up walking off cliffs/into walls I can’t see for a good 5m.
Garbage at every profession 2015
Longer load times and usually when I load up I’ll see nothing but my weapons floating in the air.
I’ve seen an increase in loading screen time, but everything is rendered properly when I zone in.
Well, there are a lot of player models to load.
That’s why Lion’s Arch usually take some time to load.
I noticed this, too. I have GW2 installed on an SSD and after the patch today it feels like HDD loading times.
this was the first thing i noticed after the patch
It’s a very noticeable increase – takes about double the time.
Actually, the load screens have been getting longer for a couple of weeks now, or even longer. Our Guild has been talking about it for awhile. They seem to get longer with each patch. And the rendering isn’t complete, even in queensdale in the early morning on the lowest pop server, let alone lions arch in a crowded one. It didn’t used to be like this, so I know it isn’t my video card, etc.
It is so bad, that the 20 minute time on Guild Treks needs to be increased, as it can take almost 20 minutes just to go through 20 load screens, let alone to find the trek locations themselves. We used to be able to do a trek with 2-3 level 80’s, and there is no way that could be possible with the longer load times as of late.
I thought I was losing my mind. I first noticed when I was going to kill the Golem Mark 2. Normally it loads just fine, but my first indication was when I ported in and started running, and the bushes and trees hadn’t even loaded. I had to start running past the WP for them to show up.
Now it’s everywhere. Even during the cinematic for the opening ceremony, things were popping in every time the camera changed angles. This is bad. Maybe there should be a patch or command to shrink the actual game file and get rid of the unnecessary data from old events and such.
My guess is that the growing game data file is partially to blame. I mean it’s grown what, 2GB in the last 2 or 3 months?
Well obviously. There are more players and monsters in that small area then most of the rest of the world combined. Not to mention that there are so many overflows that it probably takes a minute just to sort out which overflow still has room in it for you.
It’s the same reason that it takes so long to load into LA even though its a small zone. Lots of players nearby = long loading time.
Add in the 100,000+ vets in the area and there is your explanation. There won’t be a fix because it is just the nature of all the textures and data tracking.
Also noticing this. Was pretty severe in fractals last night, so this isn’t some issue about Lion’s Arch or Divinity’s Reach having a crazy amount of textures to load. Typically pre-patch, I could load into a fractal in 10-20 seconds. Last night, we’re talking minimum of 30 seconds to nearly a minute. Didn’t even get Ascalon fractal, either.
Well obviously. There are more players and monsters in that small area then most of the rest of the world combined….
You seem to be ignoring the fact that this happens everywhere.
So unless everyone, and the monsters are everywhere at the same time, there is a problem.
I’ve noticed this obvious issue as well. Zoning has become a real headache because of the time it takes now.
I’ve notice this before this living story but it seems even worse now.
I noticed that the loading screen times when you waypoint or enter a new zone seem to have increased quite significantly since this update.
Any know what the reason for this is?
The time added seems to be about 10 seconds or so – and it’s highly annoying.
I’ve definately noticed this. The loading times get longer all the time, my PC specs haven’t changed but since launch I’m looking at the loading screens more and more. I understand it for zones like LA, but now even normal zones are loading way longer than before.
Seems like it’s finally time for some serious optimizations!
My old rig would sure enjoy it, if they did…
EDIT: Didn’t they mention in the Last Stand Patch Notes that they were going to be rolling out optimizations? I don’t remember them ever expanding on that.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but loading the zone only comes from the HDD/SSD anyway?
All of the player loading comes after the actual zone is loaded. The zone is what’s taking longer now.
I can confirm. Even the mist takes a lot of time to load.
PS. You should put this thread in general discussion imo.
