This event pretty much proves everything Anet said when they made the game has been a lie.

Nothing but grinding, gross imbalance allowing some classes to get a free pass while for others it’s extremely difficult- and even then, needing a very specific comp/gear/playstyle in order to even have a slight chance.

This event has gone away from ‘play as you want to’ as far as it can. That several classes in their testing group didn’t even manage to finish several of these bosses told them nothing should be enough to know where this game’s headed.

Having to play with / around farmers is what why I missing pre-nerf CoF dungeons. CoF farm groups had a way to separating the truly terrible human beings from the general public. I am not saying everyone with a Legendary Weapon is a douchbag, it’s just there significantly more likely to be douchbags.

That said using waypoints aren’t a goldsink. The time they save makes you gold, is most situations anyways. If rezing was instant these farmers still would rez because it cuts into there arena cage time. It would be nice if arena.net set a timer that only let you re-enter the cage vs the same enemy you just Beat (wins not losses) once every 5 minutes. But don’t kid yourself arena.net wants to put the farms on the temporary content, to put pressure on people to keep logging in. So you will be forced to play with/around the scum(farmers), more in the future.

Well, I do farm Deadeye. And, when I started doing so, I used to revive everyone. But then there are these people who instantly put themselves in the queue after I have revive them, without even saying thanks and knowing I did not enter just because I wanted to revive them.

Because of these selfish people, now I don’t rez anymore if I have to go out of the queue for that. I know it’s not the best solution and I still rez people who has a little patience (just waiting 20seconds is not going to hurt them). If someone dies, I rez him if he’s still there when I finish Deadeye off. Not before, because of my bad experiences.

It’s over so fast I’ve even come back in time to finish ressing them when someone else had been doing it all along. If you care that much about 1 silver 11 copper, and 40 second of your time. Maybe those farmer care about theirs too.

If on the other hand, you are frustrated because it degrade the community, or social experience in a mmorpg, that is another topic.

The truth is if you are really genuine, you’ll just rez by wp, since saving yourself time means wasting other people’s time.

I always wp even if someone try to rez me, and believe me I died alot in liadri. Since they are so nice to rez me. Why should I waste their time to save mine.

Conclusion: the world does not revolve around you, so off with your QQ and start running. If you did not want to have to do this, then you should have done what the farmer did: finish fast and not die.

In light of the logic of these posts, I fully support people wp’ing back and deliberately wasting farmers’ time by dragging out the fights.

The farmers’ right to farm doesn’t trump your right to get enjoyment out of trolling them. After all, the world doesn’t revolve around them.

What you need to understand is that when you walk into the dome a farmer is using and go straight to failing Liadri, without asking if you can use his dome (There are five other domes, one of them will surely have people actually doing the gauntlet, and thus will res you), he’s not going to see you as a human being. He’s going to see you as a piece of filth that gets in his way, wastes his time and then wants him to res you, so you can waste more of his time.

It has nothing to do with community, it has to do with you being rude and getting in the way of someone who wants money, repeatedly, without even asking.

How about nerfing the number of times you can die to one boss by just closing the game?

So you’re saying you can beat liadri round after round without dying or do you mean you can beat a much lesser boss that dies pretty fast and is easy to counter in quick succession? hmmm. The gauntlet was not designed for farming, It was designed for players to challenge different bosses and improve their skill in battle, I guess you are probably just upset because sometimes a genuine player will come along to fight liadri and slow down your farm but there is no need to be ignorant and fatuous about it.

You know anet could take GuardianOMS’ suggestion and apply it to the farmers themselves. After you complete the achievement for that boss that boss no longer becomes available. Then they could really stick it to them by offering “special” tickets to re face the bosses on the gemstore for a high amount of gems. I say Anet be making cash hand over fist.

Thats not a bad idea, and they could also merge all the tiers, buff up all the bosses and make them all champs that drop new types of loot bags that can drop very nice exclusive wep skins, but i think this would be better for the permanent version of the queens gauntlet, for this temp LS version they need to add DR to the gauntlet bags.

gg at taking an obviously joking comment seriously. How about you learn to calm down? You’d probably enjoy the game and not get upset at other players if you stop expecting people to act a certain way and/or have the same opinion as you. I’m actually one of the farmers that rezzes and helps people because I know how frustrating it was, I don’t care about g per min/hour. The fact is non farmers are greedy as well. I have seen domes that are empty or they have 2-3 people doing the achievement. If you want a revive go there since people will have time between fights to revive you. If you go to a farming dome don’t expect people to revive you when they are trying to speed clear. It is like asking for people to not skip in dungeons because you want to fight those mobs when other people are in fact trying to speed through it.

What non farmers do is they go to domes so that they won’t wait long but in fact they have to waypoint afterwards because there will not be a res. Instead why doesn’t the person just go to one that other people are doing the same thing so that they will get revives? I have seen populated domes on different servers and overflows but instead the people trying to get the achievement are greedy and lazy to wait.

Like I res people and try to find farm domes and ignore the domes people are trying to complete the Gauntlet. But often people just go to a farm dome and try to take it over.

I even got a PM from someone trying to troll me (20+ minutes after I left):

X player: come back to crown pavilion
Me: come back without a guildie lol
X player: mad?
The player you are trying to whisper is not online.
(I think you are since you message me when I finished farming a long time ago)

TLDR: Non farmers are a problem too.

When you consider the time invested, you can make a ton of money farming in the gauntlet, in comparison to the farming going on down below. I’ve tried it a few times, but something about the whole process doesn’t feel right personally, so I haven’t done it more than 2-3 times.

I spent about an hours yesterday rezzing dead gauntlet participants throughout the pavilion. I don’t have a problem with it. While it would be nice if everyone looked out for one another, even if it meant an inconvenience on their part, it isn’t fair to expect it or demand it. Do you want something given to you under duress?

The dead need help with a rez. The farmers need help with peace and quiet. I can understand both needs. I think cooperation would be the best option, but it seems most prefer a zero-sum game.

The road goes both ways, pal. My first time in the gauntlet I bounced through several different overflows trying to find an unoccupied dome so I could get my feet wet with some modicum of privacy. (Newsflash: Not everyone likes to have their potential failures displayed to everyone in a fishbowl, Anet.)

I finally found an unoccupied dome and started on the opponents. I don’t remember which one I died to, Windcaller probably, but no sooner than I did a thief rushed up to my dome, ran over my corpse, and immediately queued up for Dead Eye farming.

If you want me to rez you then take it up with Anet and their lazy design team. In the open world rezzing takes 10 seconds and the person you rez can help you participate and kill things. In the gauntlet rezzing takes 10 seconds and then forces you to sit in a line for an extra two minutes costing you up to 1g and making you stare at the floor and do nothing. Rezzing you is just a time sink and a money waster for me.

If you want the happy cooperative community back then tell Anet to go back to developing a happy cooperative game, not one that relies on other players being dead to actually get to play the game.

Explain please.

You die because you fought a challenge and lost and expect a revive button? What a joke, the way point is right there, takes you less than a minute to walk back to a dome, and you expect people to revive you?

That button is there not to revive you everytime you die, but it’s a choice it gives to players. If they decide to revive you, then they will, if not, get over it and just way point back.

People that are near you aren’t entitled to reviving you everytime you die. If you die once, you probably will die again, and they don’t want to constantly rez you just so you can get an unlimited amount of tries till you get it down. It’s part of the reason why they want to keep the dome to themselves, but it’s more on the fact that it’s annoying, especially players like yourself who expect a rez by a nearby person when YOU die.

I fail to see how it’s anyone’s fault but yours in this situation.

Too many times you will be a nice guy, rez the downed person, then they will quickly queue up before you. Not only are you sacrificing your farming time by spending time rezzing them, and more lost time because now you are sharing your arena with them, but they won’t even have the courtesy to let you go first.

I will rez people because I’m a nice guy, but I’ll generally do it when I’m just waiting on my short cooldowns between matches. Most people however have the courtesy to just WP, rather than beg for a tiny WP fee. Another bonus for the farmer when the dead guy WPs is that they usually won’t come back to the same arena, their best case scenario is that they decide to go to one of the Guantlet arenas with other non-farmers… which is best for the farmers and the non farmers.

Sure you can. Ownership != priority. Ownership gives you the right to exclude others, which is what some of the more selfish farmers want to do. They want to have a dome all to themselves so they can farm Deadeye 24/7. Priority isn’t based on ownership. Priority just means that the person who is legitimately trying to complete the Gauntlet gets to have his fair shot in the dome before you get to resume your farming. You still get to farm in the same dome, you just have to take turns.

In a game where gold buys you nothing but different skins, the shallow greed that drives some players in this game is really astounding. There’s nothing wrong with farming up some (or even a lot) of gold, but that doesn’t mean you have to be a total kitten to everyone else.

What? I’m not a farmer and I never mentioned anything about farming anything fast enough. (Also not “he” but that’s beside the point.) I am in fact working my way through the encounters for the first time as best/quickly as my time allows (Coincidentally, I’ll be fighting DED next.) Given the angry farmers in here, I’m still thinking everyone and their mother took my post as a personal attack against farming.

Let me make my point one more time: I believe ANet had a certain mechanic in mind when they made this event and I firmly believe that friendly res’ing was a part of their design. They have always encouraged the community to help each other – this is something that set GW2 above other MMOs in my eyes. But the gauntlet farming changed the way the event goes (this is not the players’ fault, mind you – it just happened,) there are some awkward things that make it lack flow, and the penalty is doubled both in silver and more importantly time if people don’t help/there’s no one around to help, and, as you can see by some posts in this thread, there are rude individuals who get a serious case of the nasties when you go near “their” dome.

Farmers – I do not expect you to res me. I have been very courteous to farmers when I see them, generally leaving them alone or asking to make sure that’s what they’re doing (if I see someone actually die to DED). I do not expect you to stop farming. I do not think my time is more important than yours.

But I do think my time IS important. It’s important to me… and to waste it running back up to the dome every time is frustrating. To waste it looking for an overflow where there is a dome that has no farmers is frustrating. (They all seem to be someone’s farming dome lately.) And to you who don’t agree and think I’m lazy – you live my life and see how your gaming priorities change when you’re me – I don’t call you lazy for not helping to res and calling res’ing a time waster, don’t call me lazy because I feel a run back and overflow search is pointless and a time waster.

I do not – and let me repeat this – I do not expect the players to fix this. I know some of this thread got hijacked into a farmers vs. others fight, but in my opinion, this is something only ANet can reroute. That was my point – To show something I found frustrating, to explain why, and to offer a suggestion to fix it. I hope this thread and the arguing within can help show some of the problems this is causing.

I’ve found the vast majority of people willing to stop and rez. SBI is pretty good like that, I suppose. Though I did have a guy seem to get upset that I did not start rezzing him even though I was the only other person at that arena. Not really sure what he expected.

The main problem about people’s potential profits is that it reminds me of the RIAA suing kids for “potential losses” due to theft of intellectual property. In other words, that potential gain is pretty much as high as one says it is.

The other thing is that we can’t really judge priorities by who’s worth more.

But in the end, you don’t have to revive people. I would much prefer the NPCs did it.

We’re not suing anybody.

Well, I said “reminds” after all.

My analogy which might have flew over people’s heads, is that I find either kind of claim to be questionable and hardly taken seriously.

Not to mention we’re dealing with virtual currency anyways. So in any case, bringing up loss of farming time and thus loss gold doesn’t really make me care.

I’d really have more respect for people to just say “Well, I don’t care about helping people; I don’t owe them crap— what have they done to deserve my help?”. At least that’s more honest and not trying to overinflate one’s own importance, plus it’s a right to behave as such. That to me is more logical than showing me graphs of projected gains and losses.

That’s generally my point of view.

It’s about priorities. I love mini’s. I’m missing the mini krab (karka), hatchlings, and that’s it. That’s like 500 gold all told. That means I need to farm my kitten off for something I desire.

When somebody who is a scepter guardian starts doing the pirate crew and fails/runs out of time, that’s a whole 3-5 minutes of farming time, gone. I could have made a good bit of gold in that time. I am not obligated to help failures and I’m not obligated to res anybody, but I usually do when I don’t have a purpose that I feel is beyond reviving.

It’s that simple for most everybody. We get annoyed because they are wasting our time. I don’t mind if it’s another farmer. Usually by the time I finish up with my gambits/fight selection, they’re on the verge of finishing. I don’t mind that. I mind when it interferes.

What? I’m not a farmer and I never mentioned anything about farming anything fast enough. (Also not “he” but that’s beside the point.) In fact, given the angry farmers in here, I’m still thinking everyone and their mother took my post as a personal attack against farming.

Naturally the farmers will consider it a personal attack. This is because if changes were implemented to make the content acceptable to everyone meaning Anet took some of the suggestions posted in this and many similar threads then their way of playing the game is threatened. That why you see a lot of people throwing the “What makes your time worth more than mine?” Argument as well as the “Entitlement” argument back and forth. Yet do you see either side actually giving creditable evidence to support their claims? Some might say yes but in reality the answer is no because each side’s evidence can be turn upon them or are built upon false belief. The best example of these false belief arguments is the “I own this dome” argument. Anet technically owns the domes, which means they can deny access if they feel portions of the player base are becoming too hostile.

Actually you half right and half wrong with in this belief. The blame doesn’t rest solely on Anet or the players. Both parties in this case are guilty of causing this problem. Anet could of implemented the event better, that is true, but the ‘farmers’ could of simply ignored the people complaining about the gauntlet and continue farming. But they chose to try and ‘bully’ those who seek to honestly help Anet improve the game into silence because they feel threatened by these threads. Anet won’t automatically change something because a few people say something wrong. They will investigate into the matter and see if there any base to the claim, as with any company, before they make a decision.

Farmers – I do not expect you to res me. I have been very courteous to farmers when I see them, generally leaving them alone or asking to make sure that’s what they’re doing (if I see someone actually die to DED). I do not expect you to stop farming. I do not think my time is more important than yours.

Sadly they simply don’t care if you courteous or not. The way many of the ‘farmers’ in this thread presented themselves suggests they find their time more important than anyone else, which demonstrates how the “entitlement” argument can easily turn on the one using it.

The problem isn’t about who time is important who time isn’t. The problem is that some players feel they can get away with being rude to other players. I mean if time was the issue would any of the farmers who have been replying to this thread really waste their time sending a reply back to the person asking for rez? How hard is it to make a separate chat for one’s friends/guild that ignores say and map chat? This suggest the farmer’s aren’t grumbling because their ‘time’ was wasted but rather something else is the root of their grumblings.

The better question is can this be fixed now? Is it too late? Will the fix cause more problems?

I always rezz people when I’m standing up there. It makes no sense not to.

Not true. I’ll Explain

Deadeye takes about 10-20 seconds to kill netting anywhere from 50s to 3g depending on drops there is about 5-15 seconds of prep before you can go back in to fight him again. Ideal farming has each Deadeye run at 30-45 seconds.

It takes about 30 seconds to revive another player, that player will then queue for another match taking anywhere from 5 seconds to 2 minutes (depending on how bad they are) off of your farming time.

In other words it takes more time to res a person than it does to just fight Deadeye again. So much more time that it can cut your profits in half easily. And depending on the amount of dead people you can see profits drop by extremely high percentages.

This is why 4 (good) farmers killing Deadeye alongside you is considered better than just 1 person who keeps dying to Liadri. Because even though there are 5 of them. they are taking up less of your time than the 1 person would be (assuming you res)

So farmers have learned to simply not res. They can get in 2 perhaps 3 more fights before you get back and set them back another few minutes, it is advantageous to them, to leave you on the floor.

The “greed” and overall mentality these gauntlet farmers are exhibiting in great numbers (leave them, they cause me to lose profit) is BAD FOR THE GAME.

An easy way to stop this behavior is to limit the reward to 1 per account per day.

After all, how many times do you need do kill the enemy to “prove you did it” to yourself?

Killing the boss is the reward.

Remove the ability to get the “item” reward over and over again and make the reward after the first kill, just the knowledge you did kill it more than one time.

THIS SOLVES THE PROBLEM.
