So, Anet. When people spend hours of their time trying to complete these events, and have multiple dc issues and such, the solution is not to make it worse by shutting down the servers when people are still trying to complete the event…

I think the event design is a big part of the problem as well. All the massive lag/glitches aside, what we have here is a chain of events that only happen once at a specific time spread out over a few days. It makes sense that the reward at the conclusion of the event is greater by comparison, but it does NOT make sense that if you participated from day 1, you get absolutely nothing if you weren’t there in the final moment the ancient karka was defeated. Through a lucky coincidence, my schedule was free at noon PST all three days of the event and I dutifully participated even though it was miserable—the unrendered enemies, the tedious waves of which went on for far too long, and insta-death from invisible poison that wiped my group several times over and prolonged the event significantly. I had a RL obligation come up in which I had to afk near the end of the boss fight, but being a GW1 player for many years, I remembered how fair Anet is towards players and figured I’d come back to see I was still rewarded for my hours upon hours of time put into this event. Instead, I received nothing. This entire event was completely unfun for me due to its design alone. The unfairness of the reward distribution was insult to injury. Knowing that people who didn’t participate at all until the very end of the boss fight received a huge reward while I received nothing for my several hours put in over the past few days was extremely disappointing. I res’d countless players throughout this event and switched to heal-support for much of it to help keep people up. I sincerely hope Anet learns from this and, as others have said, I also hope they will mimic the event style in GW1.

Hours later on an overflow server, racing down to the bottom of the hive to do, LITERALLY, the last stretch of the event—kill the ancient.

And then BAM! ‘New build in 2 minutes’—O. M. G.

Got booted as we were getting near the end of the event myself. Didn’t get kitten

Due to the timezone difference, I was happy to be able to still participate in one of the overflows.

However, after escorting and constantly resurrecting the demolition squad, driving off Karka reinforcements, using steam vents to shoot boulders, causing landslides and again, cutting off reinforcements, the game crashed. For the whole server. Trying again, we almost get to the steam vent phase and once again, we get booted out. New Build.

3 hours of participation but due to problems on your end, we get nothing.

I’m not one to complain, but this is unbelievable. 90% of this event, the whole thing, not just the final boss fight, was uncompletable for me.

I hope this gets reported in the gaming press. I hope people all over the world now see what a terrible blunder the entire GW2 release has been. I don’t think the people responsible will be fired, but perhaps with widespread coverage of this monumental kitten up, other companies will learn from the failure of ArenaNet and the next MMO that we all join soon leaving this one in the dust won’t be so poorly managed.

GW2 was a good idea, nothing much more.

I also got a new build at the end. Seriously, can you make your timing any worse? :/

I was doing my first Run of the even since its impossible for me to do it at the scheduled time (4 AM here). Got DC’ed twice, still came in and then got a “new Build” thing. This is very unfair. Tons of people got rich while we were screwed again and again…

After hours of trying to finish the game around 3-4 over flow..12 hours.. wast not able to complete becauser of crash and DC.. and in the overflow ifound with the event still happening Anet released a new build… OMG.. could crya right about now..

Really, we finally manage to get into your broken event and you throw a new build out that ‘makes no content changes’ and boot us?

GIVE US REWARD ARENA NET NOW..!!! FOR WASTING 2 HOURS ON THAT EVENT.!!!!

Attempted the event 3 times now and still have not finshed it. 2 from disconnects and one from game build.

After all this and you expect people to support you by buying items in the store?

1. Couldn’t finish due to server lag and disconnects and the mobile auth server down
2. Couldn’t finish due to server crash.
3. Couldn’t finish due to new build.

I would say I missed around 8h of my freetime…. Great.

Was playing from the start of the event, to the part where I could literally not log in anymore, for about 3 hours. I found I was able to log in this morning. So here I am, the morning after the event, after one system crash, 4 game client crashes, 3 dc’s and about 6 different overflows, here I am where I was fighting the final boss battle, where hundreds of players around the world all opened a magestic and magnifecent chest which contained precursors, Exotics and more… Here I am, after finally being able to log in, right where we were fighting the final boss battle… and I have nothing. After 3 hours of hard work, sweat, toil and armor repairs, I get nothing. This is more painful with the knowledge that this was the last time I was able to play Guild Wars for about a week before I go on Matric vacation, which means I will probably not be able to receive any compesation by the time I get back. Thank you Arena net, the event seemed like fun. But I didn’t have any of it.

I Want to share my experience :
Playing the event for 3+ hours, than at 2nd reinforcements wave i tried to teleport to nearby WP, because we all died.
Crashed ( due to extreme lag), couldn’t login back for 15 minutes ( server problem, cause all my friend had this too).

Couldn’t find a chest.

Got back on another server, tried to play the event again.
The event BUGGED ( yep, the lionguard stucked there).

After 6+ hours of playing, no rewards, and saw a lot of rare items linked all over the guild chat.

Also in my overflow there was ad Arenanet Employee : Noxx, who said she was working hard.
(If you remember me, i am the naked guy who was trying to get info, i am sure you do)

And she saw the crashes, she saw the bugs ecc.
She also crashed herself.

Concluding : I am not a tryhard, nerdy etc ( and there would be nothing wrong about it !) but after seeing everyone got high rewards and me nothing…well if nothing happen or if the compensation is joke i am gonna quit the game, cause ( and i am quoting Nox words)" we are all frustated, but we appreciate patience"

My solution : run the final boss event again for 24h, only players who didn’t get first chest can get it again.

Yep.. spent hours.. Dc’d twice.. 3rd time.. got a “new build”. I mean honestly.. it was like you guys were just messing with us as players. I even completed the first two phases (with meidocre rewards) after dealing with multiple bugs. This was just bad.. really really bad. Halloween was enjoyable.. this was not.

Had this really frustrating thing happened to me as well. Since the event starts at 4am my time, I haven’t participated it. Logged in at around 11am my time, no breakfast, spent 2 hours in the event, no lunch. Got dc’d when it’s about to finish. WTFFFF! >.<

While some of our guildmates are enjoying their precursors. Sucks! :<

Just thought I’d chime in here aswell saying this happened to me

Spent all day trying to do this event. Disconnected, the game would crash, more disconnects, unable to log in, and then a “new build” half way through the event. Wasted an entire day trying to do this with absolutely nothing to show for it. This is .. ridiculous feels nowhere near enough. Frustrating does not properly describe what I’m feeling right now after trying to deal with this.

Hopefully Anet will put this right for everyone who got screwed out of the final chest because of server instabilities.

I think this brings up a major issue with the new build. They need to extend the timer on the build reset to about 15 minutes. 3 minutes just isn’t enough time for some people to finish off what they’re doing sometimes. I mean yes, 15 minutes wouldn’t have been enough for ppl half way into the event but some (me) was literally 5 seconds away from the chest). There is definitely no harm extending that new build kick timer.

And here I felt bad that my wife drug me out of the house after a long day of work to see Twlight, when I could have been punching my monitor all night long for nothing!!!

Wow. My overflow had just finished blowing up the gas vents and were heading into the hive when the new build notification popped.. obviously we couldn’t finish the event within 3minutes and were denied a chance at getting loot from the chest.

Part of me wants to kick myself for not waking up at an ungodly hour, and part of me feels bitter about all the people spamming links of their precursor drops. /jealous+sad

Wasted three hours of my life as I disconnected during the defeat the reinforcements bit of the chain then simply could not get back in. I was experiencing extreme lag as well during that bit – rubberbanding and having a good 5 seconds delay on abilities activating.

I hope that compensation is due to everyone.

…Without crashing the precursor market.

Had a random crash at the tree part. Then found another group, got all the way to the demos placing the last bomb and then OH LET US UPDATE THE CLIENT. this is bull. Are you serious? I wasted HOURS trying to get into this event (Some people work… Odd I know.) And once I can manage it you ruin my day? Thanks Anet. Good job. This just might be it for Guild Wars 2 if you handle yourselves like this. The entire event was bugged to hell and then we cannot do the last day.

Words cannot express how depressed and jaded about GW2 these last ten hours have made me. Narrowly missing out on the event then finding I had a second chance via a bug in the overflow servers. Twice the servers crashed during the final reinforcement stage and then a third time so that a new ‘build’ can be released.

I am sad that i was disconnected as i was about 10 minutes from finishing the event.

Fix your act, ANet.

3 trys starting from scratch each time on event and then poof new build and its gone minutes before we down the ancient karka very unpleased player right now i do hope you keep true to your word and compensate us for our time and our troubles i would gladly do the event over again if given the chance w/o the crashes of course give us more time or give us the loot its really the only respectable thing to do

I am sure Anet will set things right in due time. It happened to a lot of us so it might take a little time.

Hiya all, same thing happened to me three times. On the first try I was disconnected just a little bit into it and could not log back in. Then, I was disconnected twice after running the whole event right in the middle of the very final phase where we were killing the boss, server came back up and the boss was dead, no chest, no rewards. I am sure Anet will find a way to fix this so don’t despair

Happened to me too. Made it to the final boss and the game crashed. Tried to reconnect on another server and the game restarted with the new build. Now it’s gone forever. I can’t move to America or Europe to just play Guild Wars 2. :/

Sigh.. happened to us too.. 1-2 min more would have been enough =(

I crashed out of the event just to log back in to find the event over.

I finally found another overflow with the event going and boom new build.

This weekend has to be one of the worst event releases I’ve seen in a while. And I’ve been to a lot of event releases for a lot of different games. Everything has been buggy from day one, the lag was atrocious, and so many people got screwed out of the last event. I hate being just another post in a long line of kittening posts. But this is seriously unbelieveable. I am hoping that anet will do the right thing and at least compensate those of us that put in a lot of time and effort.

The extra insult to injury: spawning in lava after the disconnect and having to pay a repair bill….and still not get anything for 2 hours of work

All I can say anymore is: garbage.

This day has been so depressingly irritating with the DC crashings…Missed the event first time on my ele, DCed. Got into an overflow two hours later on warrior, excited cause the overflow was doing the event again!….DCed right as fighting Ancient.

Half an hour ago, ANOTHER overflow that had the event working, trying to do it on my ele again, get to top of spiral, bout to head down, new build in 3 minutes. Three chest chances all missed…wanted my precursor and special karka exotics so badly.

I would have to agree if something is not done for those is us who worked very hard and received nothing but disconnecting need to received something in our mail. I am so disappointed with what has happen then I might stop playing GW2 for some time and find another game to play. I am tried of hearing about all the really great loot people had received from their chests and me and hundreds of others….Poop…
Not to mention the 40 silver I spent on constantly repairing my armor. SO i wasted my hard earned silvers, time, and general support. The Halloween event went so well…Why Anet…..would you allow something like this to happen…you now have lost the support of countless people and this will be talked about, as well as be a sour subject for months to come I am sure.

Had the same problem. Four times. Three d/cs and the fourth the restart. Hope they can figure out who didn’t get to the event because of these problems and compensate us in some way.

Would love compensation for that. Was so close.

And you get no chance of having a precursor. So it’s like, if you don’t attend this ONE TIME EVENT, no awesome shinies for you. It’s not even mandatory. :/
