Every time I go to an overflow, everyone immediately assumes it’s going to fail.

Why? It’s the same as the main map, people like you who are trying to get in.
It has the same mix of good to bad players as any other map.
Being on the main map doesn’t make you a better player, or the event easier.

The reason it fails is because many players give up immediately the second they see it’s an overflow, or they continue trying the get in the main map even while the event is going, which means they’re not helping.

TL;DR

Overflow is just a mix of a bunch of players who don’t know each other, just like the main servers.
Don’t give up, just put in the same amount of effort.

I give 110% on those events. Groups fail because people don’t know the boss and refuse to understand it. We could spend 30 minutes explaining and they don’t use that information. They only spam 1 on auto-attack and think they can tank everything sent their way. This is assuming they don’t just AFK and try to leech rewards, which is another problem. And then there are users who aren’t equipped to handle the task, both level-wise and equipment wise, jumping in the portals kitten ing every player on the map. Projects teeth forward Ah, I’m level 25, I can handle this! Guffaw

I did Marionette 13-14 times in an overflow. I never even got close to completing it. I logged in early and did it once on the main server. Perfect run.

I defeated Mari the first time on an Overflow and it was a flawless run. Since then, I’ve beaten Mari on Overflows several more times.

I feel the chances of failure tend to be higher especially if we’re lacking players but it can definitely be done.

It goes bad in the overflows usually because there are too few people. In main, there’s always enough people to fill the lanes and have some spare. But yeah, defeating the Marionette with 14 people in each lane is, of course, harder.

Just did it on overflow yesterday.

I’ve destroyed the marionette 4 times. Last night it was my first time I did it in the main server. First time I ever got to play on the main server.

Yesterday was the first time ever I left my Overflow for a different one.

Normally I don’t leave, even if things are going badly, but this time…

There was a guy basically telling everyone to fail and it was really affecting my mood badly. I asked the guy why he was even there and he said he was there to “farm” (farm what exactly?). So basically he messes up everyone’s game just so he can do his “farming”.

So I joined a different overflow and we got 3/5, still not very good but I was content because I got more drops than that “farming” guy.

I myself have also defeated it in Overflow once.

It does. Just completed it in an overflow yesterday. Tried it couple of times before on main (Piken Square) and failed.

The only issue i can have with Overflows is when i see that it speaks an entirely different language that i and/or possibly most of the map does not understand. When you are in your own server, you can pretty much assume that people there at least speak the same language and can organize things effectively. Maybe even have a teamspeak or something at least for the commanders.

When you are in an over-overflow from your english-speaking main, and see communication of french, german, norwegian and what else, it might be quite disheartening and confusing. But at least there is communication in that case. If you know your part, that should be enough, even if you cannot advise the others as effectively.

If there is no communication whatsoever, or worse, all the communication is leetish blame-mongering and noob-calling, thats the main problem.

I was in a overflow about an hour ago that was basically empty. The 5 minute countdown started with less than 5 people per lane. It probably averaged out to around 10 per lane a few minutes in. Mobs were getting through so much that the bar progressed an entire chain’s worth by the end.

… still did 4/5.

Around this time, I don’t even see overflows anymore. I login 10 minutes early to the main server and win a majority of the time.

This. Was in a full overflow and we got 4/5 even though we failed lane 2 early, and only got a second portal in lane 1 just before failing the event. Was in an overflow last night where we had a 20/25/15/15/15 spread at the start, got portals so fast that I still had portal sickness from lane 2 by the time we failed the event 1/5. More people would surely have won that one.

I don’t think our server has managed it either though.
