I know we saw a fairly significant drop off in players for the holiday weekend, so I figured we would get a slow start this match. Here is hoping our population comes back and has had a fun and safe holiday weekend.
Should be a fun week though, not a meaningful week, but a fun one.

Pfft who needs meaningful id rather we all have some good fights, Im thinking this week when I cross paths with an up level ill just dance and move on as my celebration to the end of a train wreck, that saw the rich get richer… and the poor get poorer.

Also, when was this put in? Anet quit dumping PvE stuffs into the WvW I know and love >.< It’s still pretty amusing tho seeing something so out of place…

Is Gom only focusing AR this week? All of DR’s towers in EBG are fortified. Keep wiping at Overlook I guess. SM is ours since you guys kitten ed us off. Bye Bye SMC waypoint.

DR did an absolutely superb job of defending their stuff last night. Kudos.

Best sieged up defense 2013 goes to DR for certain. Pretty sure you must have hit the siege cap in bay :p

I think we destroyed 7 pieces of siege just in one of the towers F kittens S :p

I was impressed with how well you were scouting. 2+ people on every door we went to, plus we had people following us for a large portion of the night in DR. We could tell you weren’t playing around

Not sure if that is going to end up working to your advantage or bringing you the larger groups to clear all that out, time will tell.

If DR gets second we get a 3 way tie for 6th and we all share 6th place rewards

If AR beats DR, AR wins 6th place, Kain 7th, and DR 8th.

On the contrary I only had a little havok squad of my own with 8-10 ppl with the outnumbered buff on the whole time :P Basically we were trying to take stuff where the zergs weren’t and when we saw the orange swords at Hills after we tore up the north we decided to yolo the breach of the Bay wall against our better judgement xD To my surprise I didn’t see any resistance on DR’s part then since they had a WP at Bay as I guess they were busy at Hills. Was pretty funny to see they lost Hills at the same time lol. We thought the AR group that took Hills would commit to DR’s garrison so we tried to ninja Hills but got spotted early Good stop there

Whoever punted me out of the SM cap ring just now deserves a play of the week spotlight. Reinforcements were almost there to defeat you, but your one button press secured victory.

We actually pushed both BL with the same amount of players tonight. It’s just that AR put up a pretty good fight in their BL. I find it an honor when AR calls in a 30 man zerg or more to defend against 20 GoM. Some of the best fights were at Vale, Briar and Lake.

As for taking Hills, well you can personally blame me for that. After your morning crew wrecked all the hard work i put into our keeps and towers and turned them to paper. I got pretty kitten ed and rallied folks to take it. The first attempt was more of a poke to see your response time of your EB zerg to come and defend it. The 2nd attempt was more calculating to catch you off guard. Good stuff though.

Though we can’t complete my goal of taking ALL your keeps tonight. Rest assure, your garrison and bay are next on the list. Sleep well Anvil Rock…

you tried more than once to do something besides fill our inventory with loot (seriously thank you, I made a lot of gold tonight)?

After about 20 failed open field battles, failed tower defenses, failed sm defenses (most of the zerg had cashed out and gone to bed) we noticed white swords at hills and found you with 10 or so golems at inner hills ninja’ing your way in to wipe the t3 upgrade. not a huge achievement considering its right there by spawn, you didnt hold it long, we wiped you soon after that with little effort shrug we’ll rebuild the upgrades (we took your bay at the same time btw).

gg I sure had fun playing with ash tonight tho, & though I can’t believe you guys did, it looks like you did too.

I thought I brought about a 25 man zerg to fight your 20-25 man zerg. Even if it was 20 vs 30, our zerg was almost completely pugs. We wiped you about 5 times and didn’t get even close to wiped once. One of which you were completely sieged up inside of hills and we portal bombed you. You’d think a guild group would perform better against my pug zerg which I summoned from map chat in EB.

And as you can tell by this screenshot, so far our garrison and bay, and for that matter almost all of the keeps in every single borderland are still looking very red. Anvil Rock does not sleep.

We have been discussing that. How AR has improved since the last time we faced you during this season and you have a more dedicated wvw base throughout the entire day. Can’t really tell if you had mid-season transfers or if you have more people in wvw because the meta-event is almost done.

We had to drop a few merchants last night in towers in order to sell because our loot bags were so full. Loot bags all around are a good sign of everyone having fun.

As for the “what goes around comes around”. That’s my line. haha. You guys started it when you took our fortified keeps.

Ahahaha that’d be great XD we had to move them out of WC though because some AR person kept shooting their treb at WC no matter how many times we broke it and we filled 3/4 of green keep lord room with them.

On another note go AR! Push GoM into last for us lol maybe we can get second place yet.

Here is a post I wrote last week that might help:

Transfers? No not really…maybe 10? There are a lot of reasons for AR’s turn and only some of them are to do with transfers, but not numbers.

AR is a v.high pop server but previously had very little interest in WvW. This has begun to change, we are seeing an emergence of a few WvW focused guilds. Some are built by transfers who have more of a WvW focus, but the guild members are AR.

We also have more coverage in stable, reliable commanders, some transfers, some AR originals. This has helped a lot.

Some AR original guilds have also changed their focus with WAR moving from trains to PPT plays and my guild, TFH, are focused more on our BL rather than EB zerg fighting.

Due to our months of coming 3rd we are also very conscious of our own limitations and we are really trying to play to our strengths without over extending, like pushing locations at the inevitable loss of others.

We are also doing well for a change, thus a rolling ball effect, if we can keep it going we may be able to actually convert our fair weathers. The additional benefit of this is a better culture, people are less stressed and it is showing in good communication, positivist and cooperation.

This is why AR is turning around.

There are transfers, and there are going to be more that we already know of, not a huge amount but down here everything helps. These transfers have not occurred yet though and have not yet contributed to our community and progress.

TL;DR Some small transfers have helped a lot but they aren’t the answer to our improvement.

We’re doing our best to rebound, our major strength is consistancey though. As some others have posted AR is very consistant throughout the week. We dont really have spikes like other servers do. We play a long term game and you might find it hard to demoralize our community in the initial stages of a match.

I hope I don’t Jinx it, but does anyone know the last time AR finished in first place?

On another note, I wan’t to congratulate everyone at AR who has helped with the turnaround. And an special thank you to the hard core players that have stayed in the trenches even when things looked they would never get better.

To GoM and DR: Good luck the rest of the week! I’m hoping everyone on AR is chasing after the first place carrot, so you guys might have to brace for an AR that nobody has seen for a long time!
