Yeah.. after getting a bunch of Aetherkeys (that still drop… ) I was very disappointed upon opening up the Aether Chests in TA.

I saw tri chest and immediately thought of the colors blue and green. Fool me once with the aetherchests and shame on you NCsoft, fool me twice and shame on me.

The blue and greens argument got me thinking though. What can they give you instead? If they gave you rares as often as blue and greens then rares will become basically the new blues and greens.
The only thing they can do is give us unique rewards I guess.
I don’t want golds and exotics to fall from the sky or to pop up in these or any chests every time i open them. I think the chest itself is the problem. You want to believe you’ll get something nice but it’s like opening a dumpster instead. I wish they would pull a dark souls and try to kill you with the chest, or maybe you get a nice thing and then the chest doesn’t respawn
or just do away with the chest all together
I am surprised they are not exclusive to the gem store.

Whatever happened to the token rewards for completing dungeons? Are these lame chests going to replace them?
Some cash shop stuff would be nice but its not gonna happen because Anet wants money. My guess is new minis, skins and other crap that we have seen before.
My guess is that the chest will contain Pristine Toxic Spore Samples, a green item or two (with chances for Rares/Exotics as usual), and a chance for the new Air Filtration/Gas Mask/Toxic Spore skins.

I’m hoping we the dungeon gives more oppritunity to get some Toxic Seed Boxes. They’re currently only available in PVP by purchasing them with glory, and i’m running out of glory. Or they can just have a chance to drop Air Filtratoin, Gas Mask, and other recipes that are purchased with Pristine Toxic Spores. The new skins are account bound so it makes them really hard to get, without being able to be purchased from TP.
The blue and greens argument got me thinking though. What can they give you instead? If they gave you rares as often as blue and greens then rares will become basically the new blues and greens.
The only thing they can do is give us unique rewards I guess.

Instead they could make the 3 keys we will need extremely hard to get and account bound aswell and then they can give us a cool reward on the chest
And Btw when i say make the keys extremely hard to get i don’t mean RNG, that would be the same thing as giving us blue and greens with a 0.1% chance at a cool reward, just make 3 Secondary bosses on the new dungeon super hard to kill, that ppl don’t really need to do unless they wanna spend time thinking how to kill these soo they can get the keys.
I hope my idea didn’t get too messy and you guys get the point

Keep in mind that this may be a dungeon which will then be a 5 person group, so his idea about hard bosses can still be feasible in that case. And the point you all make about world bosses and Teq is not true. You are guarenteed at least 1 yellow each time, and with Teq you are guarenteed 3 yellows (4 chests total)…so a chance at more yellows/exotics, mini pets, and pink chests.
As easy as it is to do world bosses for yellow loot, the Tri-chest should guarentee some yellows, and add the slim chance of exotic, pinks, and of course the 2 minipets that they mentioned in the preview (this will be the real reward from the Tri-chest) in case you all forgot.

Or you can actually have fun with it and not autoattack, there are skills for the 2-0 keys you can use too ya know.
Also you get at least one yellow from every world boss once a day now, plus a good chance of getting another yellow from the big chest. It was still a fun thing to do back when you only got 2 blues and a green though, I was doing them then also:)

Your right, in fact, you couldn’t be more right. If Anet relented and gave us what people have been demanding, the entire economy would be ruined.

I concur. If on the one hand I do not want exotics / ascended dropping at a higher rate, I still think that at least they could make an effort with more rares…
I would not hold my breath for skins that are sold in the gem store…

I REALLY hope that you are right about this. It would be awesome to be able to actually participate in challenging content to receive unique rewards related to said content.

So what? They’ll have an entire week to do it. And they would be able to do it anytime they want within a week.
Complaining about only getting a guaranteed reward once a week from that, then just random ones is as pointless as complaining about the daily rewards (fractals, puzzles, world bosses, dailies…), the weekly Guild Mission rewards and the monthly achievement rewards.
Guaranteed rewards MUST be limited in time, so people don’t stick to just one spot doing the same thing over and over. There’s simply no way around that, otherwise people will mindlessly go to the spot that gives the most and stick to it, and the rest of the game gets empty. And they’ll go there because some will go there, and start earning more, and paying more for stuff, and prices increase, and the rest must do the same to afford the increased prices, inflation raises, the moon shall be tinged with blood, the sun shall be obscured, the earth shall be covered by waters, and the brilliant stars shall fall from
their sanctuaries in the heavens. Fire and smoke shall rise up until they reach the very skies and… you get the idea.
Either you don’t give guaranteed rewards, or give them limited in time.
That should apply to champions too. They should get flags that make them stop dropping champion loot bags after they are killed a number of times. Less times the easier they are, so people stop sticking to one place, and players who want help fighting champions in other maps can get it.
I hate this RNG system, I would have prefered one that reward you for the time you spent playing, maybe using something like a currency that you can accumulate and exchange for the reward that you are chasing… oh wait… and suddenly a black cat crossed my path twice, probably Matrix has been rewritten.

I hope this is not the case or I will never get those weapons because my RNG is so bad that they will never drop for me and I won’t get enough good drops to be able to buy it off the TP.

Not really a fan of getting rewarded with RNG. I prefer if they rewarded us in any of completing living story content or do other misc content stuff towards it. I really want lady kasmeer’s staff and knowing it’ll drop from the chest worries how much of a bomb it’ll cost if its sellable on tp :/

I’m almost certain that the Kasmeer/Marjory weapon skins will be gemstore only, similar to the Rox/Braham weapons. That said, I wouldn’t mind them dropping from the chest as well. More options for getting items is always good.

They don’t have a lot of time for diversity. The art team, that is.
I mean, really. They only had a little while to work on the ascended gear, to say nothing of the current stuff. I’m just happy that what we’re getting with the gas mask looks as good as it does.

Do we know this for sure? I am not sure we know what kind of time table they operate on.
That is not accurate at all about them only having a limited time to work on the ascended gear. If you have been reading their updates and comments, the Ascended gear was officially supposed to be with the game upon launch. They wanted to tweak things though so held it off until they new better with which they were implementing the gear.
Limited time? Nah.
As for this Tri-Key chest…. upon reading the patch notes, this chest is basically useless.. I mean, unless you want a chance at the gas mask (which you can get if you do the meta), a mini (which I care none for personally, they are just sitting in my collection), and a Toxic Spore back skin.
The last one is the only one that kinda appeals to me. Although I have way too many back skins now, this one would look cool on my Sylvari, although she already rocks the flower from the Southsun Cove events…
It would be pretty amazing if they started putting out armor skins in drops instead of having to RNG for ticket scraps or purchase off the Gem Store.
This all, of course, is just my opinion. Take it how you like.

Well at least the weapons aren’t in the chest. Bad part is each are 600gems But at least they put them for direct purchase
