Dodge-Jumping Box

Of course it’s hard, but you can do all jumps with a normal jump. The question is if that works faster.
No. Only one spot at the end of W2Z3 requires a dodge jump to get up to the yellow bauble. You can’t die from missing it.
Dodge Jumping isn’t required for anything.
I can dodge jump at will without failing. The only time I fail is when I aim wrong with the jump.
You can complete every zone without dodge jumping. I know, I’ve done it.
i had to use dodge jump because of game lag most of the time, and if i am lucky i get thru! xD

I did all W1 Trib Mode without using any jump-dodging. It’s not necessary. It’s not even that harder because I followed the exact same path many players do with jumpdodges. Try it out for yourself.

If your keyboard/mouse isn’t decade old… why not just driver side bind 2 keys to 1?
When I do sab I use one of my generic mouse buttons that’s for call target and set it as alt+space which is dodge and jump. Problem solved.
Also not sure if its needed anywhere I use it when it saves me time/effort.

My keyboard is 13 years old now, and while my mouse is new, it only has two buttons and a scroll wheel. Because I can’t be kitten to spend more than 10 bucks on a mouse.
More to the point, I’ve only had to dodge jump to access some secret areas in W2-2 and 2-3, as well as the shortcut eagle in 2-2.

I’ve done all of Tribulation mode, including all shops and all Honey/Stumps, without dodge jumping. Some places would be made easier by dodge jumping – for example, the jump to get to shortcut eagle – but none are impossible.
As a note, its a stated rule of the designers that dodge jumping is never 100% required.

How’d you do the last part of W2Z3 where you have to get up top and jump along the wall to get across? As far as I know there’s only one way up there and it requires a dodge jump to get to one of the platforms.

I’m not sure where you mean, I don’t even remember anywhere in 2-3 where I felt a dodgejump would make things much easier – could you point out to me the location you’re talking about in one of the Trib mode guide videos floating around (a timestamp of the vid, preferably)?
That final bridge to the checkpoint right by the Yeti. You have the stone faces blowing wind at you.
Erm, I just ran straight across that, jumping left onto a lower trib cloud to get past the one blocking the main bridge. I don’t even remember there being a wall there?
25:40 in Vorru’s 2-3 video shows what I did. Is that where you mean?
Oh I remember that. I heard players weren’t meant to go that way like they weren’t meant to jump around onto the corner of that cloud just after the checkpoint by the elite skill (which got patched). I heard it from someone on the forums so it’s not like there’s much credibility in it.
Huh, it seemed like the obvious way to me. I mean, why would there even be a cloud there low enough to jump on otherwise? It serves no purpose – you can’t jump around the main cloud without it, so why would it be there?
I don’t know. I guess I’ll go that way since the other is annoying.

my mouse and keyboard work fine, its like I explained, you have to be lucky the game accepts your input correctly, that has nothing to do with skills and/or the quality of my keyboard

Fairly early on in Tribulation World 2 – Zone 3, there does seem to be a required dodge jump for progressing. Perhaps me and my friend just didn’t spot an alternative route, but there was pretty much no other way to progress than getting up on a rock which was out of reach of a normal jump for us.
Normal mode, sure you don’t have to do a dodge jump at all, except if you want that yellow bauble stashed above the Banana-spike room near the end of the stage, but it was basically a jump like that one, which was required to progress fairly early in Tribulation World 2 – Zone 3 as well.
I can however perform the dodge-jump with, I’d say a 95% success rate, so it’s definitely a skill you can learn to do. When I fail them, I usually chalk it up as a error on my part. Probably because I didn’t place my thumb correctly over the Spacebar- and V key.

Which area early in TM are you referring to?

Well, I’m pretty sure thats against the rules. The rule is supposed to be one action per key stroke, which is not what you’re doing.
Anyways, no place in SAB requires double/dodge jumps. Already been said by a dev and I can second it (didn’t need to do dodge jump like dulfys video said fo TM world 1 zone 2).
Please give us a keyring…
Dodge-jump is not needed in world 2 – I didn’t even think about using it.
World 1 zone 2 after first checkpoint when you need to jump over lava and big rock is knocking you back – helps but again – not needed.
Which area early in TM are you referring to?
On further inspection in Infantile mode, to re-locate it, we did actually miss a nearby jump-path we probably could alternatively take. It was after jumping around the cliff-side that’s above the ice maze, with the tricky balloon machine inside the circle of spiked flooring. So yeah, I guess it doesn’t require any dodge-jumps except for the one yellow bauble then. And perhaps there’s an alternative thing we can do there too.
At least if it’s supposed to be true that no place requires it. Since it is as far as we know, required to reach that bauble, and that bauble is required to get the achievement, but I guess someone could argue that achievements aren’t required, but then again—neither is playing the game.

In the W2-2, in the very beginning, I’m failing to do this jump without dodge-jumping. Is it possible, or I just took the wrong route?
The dodge jump works 100% of the time you do it correctly. If it didn’t work, it’s you messing up the timing (Which needs to be perfect).
There are some jumping stone parts I’ve not been able to do without a dodge jump. I’m sure it’s down to lag or whatnot, as I tried to avoid using dodge jump myself, but was just not able to get past some of the rocks.

There’s a small area on the left to jump from against the cliff.

Lol. Interesting, why I thought you can’t jump from that ledge…

Jump from the back, not the edge. You won’t jump high enough if you jump from the edge.

nope, it DOESN’T work 100% or it wouldn’t have been necessary for me to make this topic in the first place

So besides the fact that you’re perfect and cant ever mess up a timing that needs to be precise to the second, you’re really complaining about something unintentional that somebody discovered on accident? (Me by the way)
If by any way it doesnt work correctly, it’s because they never intended for it to work in the first place. It’s a harmless and helpful bug that anet decided to leave in.
Theres only 2 places in SAB trib that I’ve felt a need to dodge jump. one is the fakeout rock in w1z2 over the lava. I’ve done it legit without a dodge roll but if I’m geting any latency at all the fakeout will fail for one reason or another and its easier to just dodge jump to avoid the stomp.
Second was right at the begining of w2z3 that jump from the tree to the ledge just before the first cloud checkpoint. I’m prety sure the jump is possible without if I could just find the right spot and timeing but agian its easier to just dodge jump it.
Dodge jump is afaik not farther. It just is an automatic maximal distance jump which makes difficult jumps a bit easier. But Josh stated pretty clearly that all jumps have been tested to doable via normal jumps.
That said, Trib mode does get easier when you can pull it of. It’s a lot of practise though =/

I already explained the issue in the original post
