Did you get that locked achievement?
I got an achievement, yes.
Edit: nevermind. Yes, it was locked. Now it’s not. Beautiful.

Glad you liked it. I was worried that no one would find the story bits of SAB since we tucked them away.
(edited by BobbyStein.2315)
Found it, was immediately taken with it, and now I’m sitting here hoping that I get more of this good stuff soonish and won’t have to wait until the release of SAB world 3
But I guess I have to wait and see

What is this. Inside jokes with a dev? Impossible.
Yes, it was very cool!
I liked that this wasn’t plastered all over the “coming soon” page. It’s nice to actually see a story unfold without ANet telling me the entire plot beforehand.
What is this crazy talk of magical words I know nothing about!
Explain!!! :O

I got the locked achievement, and I got the reference to an infamous code.. but.. I’m kind of lost as to what I just witnessed with the 4 named Asura and their little device. Some references I’m missing?
If someone wants to avoid spoiling please send me a message or whisper Zapp in game?
do share? pretty please?

Would also like to know what’s going on here. Put it in spoiler text for the benefit of those who want to find things out themselves.
I think he means the locked achivement “Special Instruction”

Amazing, 4 hours with a guild group laughing, cursing, and exclaiming at the screen and across ts. Only to find this secret at the end of it all. BEST 4 hours! Looking forward to more groups going in tomorrow in hopes of finding secret rooms and goodies! Tribulation mode will be preserved till the weekend lol.

If you read an earlier post of mine, I stated I cannot do that myself due to internet issues
Which is why I asked if someone could fill me in via pm instead.

Now I feel bad for what I did!
This krewe is very interesting… and they all have unique faces too! I guess Anet is moving the asura designs to have more common white sclera instead of black.
Go look at the teaser for world 3. I think you have to complete world 2 before you can do that, but we only did that in infantile mode, not normal mode. In there you will find instructions of where to go and what to do.

Here to give my props for this, you blew our minds! Don’t forget to talk to Moto after you do “it all”! Extra flavor

That’s the most obvious part about the whole thing…
What other code using those button choices comes to mind when you need it all?
Perhaps this ambiance will jog your memory:
Yeah, I might need to witness it again as I had just woken up when I discovered it lol

Well aware, just think it’s lazy to beg for spoilers. People seem to have this ridiculous need/drive for immediacy instead of just waiting and discovering yourself.

I think it would add to the atmosphere a bit if they have the character equipped with their light source in that area.

Both this story and what happened in game, has me thinking that it’s starting to reflect a Tron-esque plot line. Moto is probably ignoring that his invention is reflecting upon his deepest darkest emotions. While the facade is starting to fade away, Moto will be completely oblivious to it due to his success. It’s going to be his downfall, and he will have to clean up his mess (with the playable characters support).

Sometimes you can have “discovered” it already and not really know what exactly it was you just discovered, sometimes it can be pop culture references to things you don’t know about, like if there was a Dr. Who or Breaking Bad, or Game of Thrones reference, I wouldn’t get it because I don’t watch TV.
So here, I’m still wondering if there’s some significance to these Asura’s names, if they’re a reference to something, and the things Ketto says during the little mini event whether or not that’s a reference to something too.
Thats why I ask for spoilers. I found the genie, did the instructions, and saw the event, but was confused as to its significance.
Is that still lazy?
edit…
nvm I found it
(edited by ZudetGambeous.9573)
Ok i’ve searched for hours, I can’t find it… can someone tell me where to go after speaking to the genie?
It tells you what waypoint to go to in Rata Sum. Hell there’s even a star pointing to the console you need to use…
Um, so what’s the point of these characters? Are they his old krewe who kicked him out, or a new krewe he’s working with/leading? If it weren’t for the NPC chat tab picking up their banter, I wouldn’t have known they existed. And that console says “Access denied.” so..another part of the living story not out yet?
Spoiler tagging everything, because this really is more fun to do it yourself, but here’s what I’ve gleaned.
To start the sequence, you have to finish World 2 on normal mode. Then, go to the World 3 house and talk to the genie. He’ll give you a code and tell you to use it on the console to “win” the Super Adventure Box. Go where he said, use the code, and play out the cutscene/instanced event. Afterward, you can ask Moto about it, where he’ll deny everything.
As best I can tell (from the banter and the short story posted a while back), the four Asura there are Moto’s old krewe. Moto did something (a prank? just having too grand a vision for Adventure Box technology?) that made the Krewe kick him out. Presumably, the SAB is based on their (non-super Adventure Box) work, and they’re awfully bitter about his success, probably in part because of whatever problems caused Moto to get kicked out, and possibly due to “stolen” technology.
Kind of seems odd, that Moto, inspired by Shigheru Miyamoto is portrayed as a bit of a thief, stealing the ideas for the super adventure box from his old krewe and then sabotaging their future projects when Shigheru himself is a pretty original guy who created several genres of games on his own, even if they’re called rehashes now, they were original and uncharacteristic characters and franchises at their conception. The hero is a plumber and the bad guy a giant turtle in a kingdom of walking talking mushroom people? That’s pretty dang original. Also Nintendo generally as a company has taken a very blue ocean approach, especially their greatest successes, where they did not directly compete with their competitors but rather attempted to expand the market to people who did not currently play video games, sabotaging their competitors seems uncharacteristic of them.
Came here to say just this It’s been a while since launch that this game has gotten me really intrigued and excited about something
I stumbled across Yavvi and Ketto’s conversation in Rata-Sum, when banking something at the accountancy waypoint and was immediately taken by it, I spent a while looking around for where I was hearing them from, then spent a good couple of hours camping the two NPC’s for dialogue c:
I absolutely adore subtle lore like this, story that’s not necessarily completely in your face, and not needed to be able to play the game, but adds more depth to the story for those who go looking for it
I also loved the touch of the "avoid the genie" books in the shops in SAB xD It has me curious as to whether the genie was implemented intentionally by Moto or was more of his subconscious that slipped in o:
But no, the cutscene was awesome, the new voice acting is awesome, the subtle New Krytan comments are awesome, I just really, really love this patch, if anything because of the extra subtlety and the new lore it’s brought to the scene Also SAB is a ton of fun c: Can’t wait to find out more about this little Krewe!
Edit: fixed formatting so the spoiler hiding worked xD
(edited by Gwylen.3462)
Just to clarify, while the character named Moto is an obvious homage to Shigeru Miyamoto, his personality and behavior within the SAB story context are not at all inspired by any real life person or events. Don’t read into the character expecting some sort of life commentary or biographical similarity to the legendary game designer. It’s simply not there.
To quote an oft-used phrase: “All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.”
SAB is an interesting thing on its own and now you say it has a story besides saving the aptly named 8-bit princess (am I the only one who thinks that she looks ever so sightly disturbing btw, I know why that is but still…).
Now what will I do? When will we get the next bits… unlike regular living story or other recurring events SAB has no tie in to a particular time of year so it is impossible to predict. I hate and love loose ends, on one hand I like open ended stories, but on the other hand I really hate to be left wanting for more.
But I guess that is part of the charm of it… in a way. Though it is nice to see SAB getting more context and substance as a part of GW2, being a game within a game is neat and all but little more context and intrigue never hurts.

Slight bit of a tangent but about these guys Yavvi has a new pigtail haircut that players can’t get is that coming any time soon? lol
The krewe in general seem to also have faces different from any that the other asura have.
Not sure if anyone noticed it, but if you don’t leave after the cutscene, there is more dialogue. They think/figure out its he who does it, which I’m assuming is Moto.
Please give us a keyring…
So, I just got to the genie, went back, entered the password, and came up to the machine…
…and decided, simply, that my character wouldn’t follow the genie’s instructions.
Would it be possible, for things like this, to have something for the people who choose NOT to follow certain instructions?
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
I loved the dialogue between the various characters and how things tie into the SAB adventure.
I also indeed love how none of it is explained in some kind of achievement like we had in the past that already gave away the storyline progression by their mere description before we as players would finish certain aspects of gameplay.
Considering Wortt is a Mario villain, I just assumed the big thing with these guys was that they all represent villains from different games. And that is the connection to their context within the story.
