Has anybody mapped the SAB yet?

I suggested it over a week ago stating it would be easier to use that than guides. At this point, there’s probably no real benefit to it unless you’ve already started.
I like maps too. Sounds like a great idea!
I’ll admit that I struggled with some directions I found online, such as “there is a bauble to the East” – I don’t believe there is an “East” in the SAB. o_0
Well, I might start working on this for the joy of it. But still if anybody knows of any maps, let me know…

the only real problem I can see is the difficulty of mapping the 3D components.
Not much of an issue for zone 1 but both zone 2 and 3 have heavily 3d components with baubles up top and below sometimes close to each other horizontally but on totally different levels vertically

That issue could be solved by making multiple maps of the same space— One for an upper level and one for a lower level.

3d space is not really an issue. yes you can make multiple maps of levels. but that only need if say its a hole or a stair case. if say you have tree ledges and something is under you simply state it’s under this thing here.
the hard part is getting the area. since its not just a simple corridor map and you can’t zoom out it would take a bit to do. also there is no in game map so finding markers has to be really well done.
this is of course my own opinion. would love to see one. might try my self but not sure if I have the time
I had no problem with the straightforwardness of the maps and directions. So, I don’t think this is necessary.
…but I guess some people are directionally challenged.
You can use the zoom out bug to get a bigger view. Just exit to Rata Sum after fighting one of the bosses, but before zoning to the next zone. Your camera will be stuck in zoomed out mode, and you can re-enter and see more.
Step 1: Zoom Out
Step 2: Position Camera above head
Step 3: Methodically walk the SAB in a grid pattern taking a screen shot every 10 steps
Step 4: Use Photoshops stitch function to put it all together
Should only take you…oh…. two or three months…give or take.
i did it in paint(lack of time) and i hope someone uses this as a reference for PS version with better quality

For everybody’s information, we just tried that and boy does it not work. So manual sketching it is.

Essentialy yes, because there are many youtube videos of areas to watch.
Maps are more satisfactory.

i’ll try to map zone 2 and 3 today.. well at least zone 2
here we go.. zone 2 is complete.. kind of.. XDDDD
i’ve mapped it as well as i could. there’s nothing between cp1 and cp2 because i find it irrelevant to bother with :P
MaideN, your work is amazing. What technique are you using?
Crazy and I have just run the zone 1 map, staying to the edges wherever possible, to get a better sense of the actual scale and orientation of things. Sadly, this technique isn’t going to work in the swamp :\

tnx
tbh i don’t really use any technique XD i was a boy scout back in the days and i remember one particular camping trip/orientation challenge. There was a guide that worked on maps for the forest area, and i spent a lot of time with him ^^
the only thing you have to look at is your position. That is far easier in-game then in RL.
you just set up a make belief North, East, South, West, and measure one side of the edge in seconds.. and when you set up a base point and length, you can do all the rest by reference to that
I hope i can squeeze in zone 3 and W2Z1 with all the exams i have XDD and i’ll try to do a top level for zone 2 and zone 3
p.s.: there are some minor mistakes in maps now that i look back on it.. XD

Between our edge-walking and your more detailed map, I think we’ll be able to create something really cool! The edge-walking sadly isn’t very precise as you can’t zoom into the map far enough. But we can use it to “straighten out” orientation and scale.
Turns out there is an actual “North” to the maps.

Good work, MaideN. Will you be adding more information about the Bee Dog sections though? The mazes in Z1 and Z3 would really benefit from having a map.
I found this in the German language forum – it looks accurate to me! (Beedog zone 3 maze)

i think that’s great!
and thanks for saving me the trouble to map that
I’m back, will post map update in a few days! Just in time for the SAB to vanish :P
