Death is Energy [DIE] – Gandara EU
Australia
(edited by Talindra.4958)
hi there, i have been trying to jump up via mushroom caps in order to get to the room for Moto’s Breath and etc. however i have not been successful. i am not sure why i couldnt make it. tried all sort of angle distance, and jumps.. but kept falling off.. and sometimes body went flat on mushrooms cap .. can it be server related issues that make jumping slightly more challenging esp higher difficulty jump which angle and distance wise must be perfect? bcos i live in australia but play in EU server… appreciate your input!

can do platform jump no problem but when come to motion + jump, there seems to be second or split second of lag .. can this be part of the issue making jumping more difficult here? :P i really want to get this done >.<
if you end up with the falling flat visual bug(making it difficult to time jumps), try dodging to reset the sprite back to standing. some particular jumps are visually impossible looking, but for all jumps, you can actually stand beyond the ‘edge’ of the surface you’re on for additional distance
some people also say dodging right after jumping will increase your distance, but I have been unable to reproduce this, though I’ve seen videos of people doing it

moving/running jumps do not increase your distance traveled. you only move as far as you hold the wasd keys while in the air
thanks :P i am still not giving up yet >.< very painful !
After the first couple of mushrooms, there is what looks to be a couple options for each successive jump but there is only 1 and it’s probably the longest jump out of the possibilities
Just like in the old school games, you jump from the very last pixel of the thing you’re standing on, it takes practice.
Know your environment as well. If you don’t make the jump, do you know what’s at the bottom? Plan your death fall accordingly and you might save your life!
It wasn’t until the 5th day that I tried it that I succeeded, just keep trying and you’ll get it.
I had the best success by getting as close to the edge of the mushroom as possible and then waiting till my peak in height to make the move over to the other mushroom. That and a lot of patience.
Zone 3 drove me crazy, and this part in particular is not my strong suit (I think I spent at least 3 hours total on this – was trying to get all the baubles at the same time). But I think you will get it soon. Just figuring out what spot is the best for you is usually the way it works out.
yes i did the same to move slowly to the edge and keep my camera angle the closest possible to that in dulfy video :P a few times i slide off the mushroom down. I have also made my graphic on lowest largest pixel in a hope tht it will help :p
the longest jump from the 4th mush to 5th is the hardest i think..
also, the second mushy to the first of the top seems to be hard too (?)
i notice if you are jumping on the edge of the mushroom, if without care, the char will move sliglty move slowly and eventually fall off….. it doesnt stay on the same spot jumping ya…
anyway.. thanks for the encouragement!!! :PPPPPpppP

Latency is important. If you’re rubberbanding or getting lag it will be a royal pain.
If not, it’s rather doable.
If you are not the greatest of jumpers, you could always run with someone that is. I find it extremely helpful for someone to stand where I need to land. For me, this method works every time on jumps that were giving me troubles. Yes, I know that is kinda like cheating, but it is a great way to learn where/how you need to jump. This way when you are on your own, you know how to do it by yourself.
There’s a few “trolling” mushrooms in there, they are more or less the same height as teh one you are jumping on but they are too far away to jump to, you’ll need to go up higher and jump from there.

Dodge jumping does increase distance traveled while in the air.
It is accomplished by nearly hitting jump and dodge at the same time, where you are hitting jump a microsecond before dodge. It is notable on any ‘red’ jumps where normally you would have to jump perfectly to make it but dodge jumping makes it with ease (for example the 3 ‘suicide’ baubles in world 1 zone 1)
As to why: Your character moves faster while dodging, because your character is gaining a burst of speed it translates to a longer jump.
not sure you can roll jump on the bouncy mushrooms
you cant, I was speaking in general.
yeah in general roll jump is awesome and and is about the only way to extend your jump distance.
Thought technically a running jump can increase your distance over a standing jump but only in so much as removing any wasd key press lag.
Those mushrooms leading up to the top of the hollow trunk can be a pain. They’re spaced far enough apart that you need forward momentum in order to get enough distance out of the jump to land on the next one.
What I do is position myself so that I’m jumping directly in the center of the mushroom. I orient myself to face the next mushroom, wait until I land on my current mushroom from a bounce, then start running forward in the split second before the mushroom launches me again. This will sometimes look like you’re about to run right off the edge of the first mushroom, but it will still launch you upwards with enough speed and trajectory to get to the second mushroom.
I found that its easier when the game glitches out and you’re laying flat. The reason is that the landing animation is confusing and creates a strange visual delay.
If you’re stuck laying flat, you’ll easily be able to see when to jump because it actually seems to solve the camera issues as well. The one jump near the top is a pretty far distance, but it can be reached if you get close to the edge of the mushroom
Either way, this section needs to be reevaluated. It’s simply too inconsistent. And buggy to be fun.
Zaxares’s tip is the best one, did it first time with that.
don’t move until you hit the cap.
tip: jump on it when in the air slightly move to center yourself. then once your lines up, wait till just before you hit cap to do a long distance jump. you will look like your about to run off the cap but you will spring off.
also wait a couple jumps to get this close and high ones.
I wish I could make a video to show.
Im having an issue in this area as well, I cannot get past the branches below to even get to the mushroom caps. I have watched a video on the way up several times and I am doing everything exactly the same but it will not take me up. From the second branch to the third branch it just will not let me up. I have used up so many lives and I am almost out and I would really hate to have to gather all these baubels again.
The jump from the second to the third branch is one of those jumps where you need to jump right as you’re about to fall off. You can also improve your chances by moving up as high as possible on the second branch and aiming for the lowest portion of the third branch.
I really do not know what I am doing wrong, I have tried that, I am out of baubels and I only have 5 lives left, I keep losing them from falling in the acid water. I really do not know what I am going to do. It just does not work for me
is there any other possible way up?
Unfortunately not. That route is the only way to get up to a point where you can jump down to the shop with Moto’s Breath. The only thing I can suggest is to get someone who’s done the jump before to go into the zone with you and show you how they do it.
Will the achievement still activate for me if i bring someone in?
You would need to not leave the instance. You could try inviting a guild member or a friend to your party, who then joins you in the instance. The achievement must be completed without you leaving the instance, so if you exit out to Rata Sum, then yes, you would need to collect all the baubles again if you were going for the Master of Baubles achievement.
Sucks, I know. It took me over 2 hours in that zone to get everything + Moto’s Breath at the same time. Fortunately I’d stocked up on 9 Continue Coins before making the attempt; used 2 of them before I finished.
yeah im going for that achievement and planned to get Moto’s Breath along the way as that is the last upgrade I need. I stocked up 500 baubels before entering so I thought I was set. I have used all of them and would really hate to start this over :/ I wish we could use mes portals in here lol
well i just tried it a bunch more times with friends, looks like im not getting the title since it is literally impossible for me. Sucks that was the last thing I needed
This part was very tricky due to the bugginess of the mushrooms. Sometimes the bounce animation would take longer. Sometimes I would rubber band and I couldn’t tell if I fell or not. Sometimes I would face plant and keep bouncing in that position. Ultimately, it just took trying it enough until I got it. Taking my time with each jump and positioning myself on the edge of the mushroom towards the next one helped. Also, the video on dulfy.net helped me figure out which jumps were possible.
The first time I did this, I actually got to the top, finished the zone, but didn’t get the bauble achievement. It turns out that I had missed a bauble that was above the highest mushroom (not sitting directly on it). So I had to do the whole zone over again. Luckily the second time was much faster.
I’m really sorry about that. I struggled so hard, but was lucky in the end.
My only advice is that out of those first three jumps, one of them required me to hit “jump” first and “forward” a split second after (I think it was the first one), one jump required me to hit “forward” first and then “jump” (must’ve been the second one over the gap) and the last jump was “jump” and “forward” at the same time, I think it was the third jump, from the highest point right in the corner. I hope I didn’t mess the sort order up in my head now. But I used this even distribution to count in my head every time I had to get up and it helped me getting the jumps “right” enough times to eventually get to the top.
Secondly, next time you get to zone 3, run all the way to the checkpoint of that area, try to get moto’s breath/top baubles, and if you manage, you can still go back and get all the other baubles, or you can just quit and try again some other time, without losing all your bauble progress.
thanks for all the encouragement. i stopped playing for a while but last night i tried again and made it in first go!
and had to do the second and third time for bubbles achivements. ;p bcos silly me missed bubbles before i kill froggy king
from experience. its not about luck in this jump.. and its not so much about skill either. its about the server and internet speed .. dailing from australia to EU server, i would recommend doing this in non-peak time and also switch off all your bandwidth chewer programs! xD and when you do the mushroom leaping, slightly shift the char towards /near the edge of the mushroom and only press forward key (not jump) when your char is in squating position (not in the air) and hold it down until your char reaches the next mushy and let go the forward key! note: let your char bounce a few times on the mushy and wait till he is sort of squating. good luck in trying for those who are still trying. Thanks for all the help from you all!
