AR dungeon = best experience in the game
I must agree, it is nice with challenging content- overall the way the Sky Pirate event is set up with its achievements seriously stinks and i doubt it encourages most ppl to continue playing GW2, but it is nice with tough dungeon implemented.
Love it as well……….and agree with OP completely.
as for the achievements……i think they are varied enough:
kill X amount of mob
scavenger hunt/jump puzzles
story/dungeon completion
exceptionally skilled dungeon play
not sure where the complaint is? only need to do 12/20 to get reward, which allows you to skip the types you don’t like.

You’re the kind of person that annoys me more than the people complaining about this that and the other issue with the dungeon.
You think something’s unbalanced about the dungeon? Oh easy solution, you just suck.
Tone down that elitism just a tad, ’preciate it.
Don’t stir the pot… >>
The dungeon is not “Too Hard”, it is “Too Annoying”. After a couple of wipes (yes, it IS Hard, and that is good) we figured out the laser room, we manage to get into the third stage without much effort .. and every single time we get wiped because we don’t all have perma-stability. We even got a name for the attack: “The Pull of Doom”… the golem pulls you, you’re likely to get into a wall, and then power-punched to death.. all in a single, fluid motion that you cannot prevent (the tell is too short to react to it) or respond (you get knocked down then stunned, then killed) .
Just removing the pull from the third stage would be enough to keep the difficulty high but doable after you learn the ropes, just like the Molten Facility (now THAT was a beautifully crafted dungeon).

There were times when progression through some dungeon or raid took months to successfully complete it. Now everyone things that dungeons shoud be flowers and pink unicorns, that staying together and damaging one boss 10 minutes because he has ton of HP, is the only way how to do dungeon encounter…
Dungeons should be exactly like this, especially when game engine supports this kind of obstacles. So basically yes, you are right, I dont see anything unbalanced, what do you think should be nerfed? Pull of Golems? That can be avoided by any class.. and if you have guardian in the party, he should be wise enough to shout Stand Your Ground when the golem is going to pull someone from the party.
Btw. stun breakers are also great…. while you are flying through the air when you are pulled, you automatically dodge laser if you are passing through, only when you arive to golem, it is dangerous because he immediately stun you – so you have to activate stun breaker and run from it…. happened to me, worked.
Just keep on trying, maybe you will learn it and later you will find it totally trivial.

Ain’t nobody got time for that.
We’re talking about Living Story here.

Finally, something hard and challenging. Not for noobs who still dont know how to move around and dodge, For this Arena Net, I love you, I really do
For all those who cry about nerfing it: you suck
Gonna reword this to what I think it’s actually saying.
Finally, content that I consider hard and challenging. I don’t care if anyone else has fun, or how frustrating it is for low level or new players. For only considering one portion of the player base I love you Arena Net, I really do.
For all those who have legitimate criticism about it, and would like ANet to consider alternatives for future releases, not only does your opinion not matter to me, but I’m also going to insult you for not living up to my standards.
P.S. Please don’t reference my post later when I’m complaining that the world is empty and there are no new players entering the game.
I guess I just had an insanely awesome group compared to some people. This was my first time ever doing a dungeon and I loved it, I had my Elementalist and the rest of the group was Guardians and Warriors. We got it done in under 30 minutes and it was so much fun; I did die a few times, but I’m pretty squishy so I expected that.

Exactly
However, I have to contradict you on the part about empty world – if you think that Living Story keeps people playing you are not completely right. Those updates take 1 or 2 days to complete, and then people have no reason to go back. This dungeon is actually helping servers to be more populated
And note for new, low level players: Living Story is mainly for people who already “finished” the game. You have plenty to do even without it.

its an easy dungeon once u complete it once…but yeah i feel ya its a great dungeon. its actually the best dungeon in the game…i think i like the atmosphere of the dungeon.
dungeon is really good, but it’s too frustrating to do it with a PUG. the failure rate is extremely high
Mortifer designed the dungeon ? I can only think that is why he says “best experience in the game”.
No one is really gonna miss this dungeon tbh. Completed twice and for the reward that’s more than enough for “best experience in the game”….

I agree with this completely. AR is awesome in terms of environment, feel and for the most part difficulty. I haven’t had this much fun in a dungeon since release and I have still yet to complete. I’ve spent 10 hours over 4 attempts – and I am always the last one standing after the third barrage – this is on my S/D thief. Several times I even saved wipes by finishing off Frizz myself – and these players don’t exactly suck, they just haven’t nailed down the mechanics yet. Alright some are unwilling to listen and adapt or change their builds but not most of them.
I pug 100% of the time because I really don’t want a second job or have to deal with guild drama, but at this point I’m pretty much open to the idea of running with some sort of static crew so long as they are not pretentious kittenholes like the OP here. Notice how I didn’t call for a nerf.

So what would you have Arenanet do to appease their entire player base? Pretty much all of the living story content up to this point has been pretty trivial for a lot of people. Really, where do you get off insinuating that (its) not fair for Anet to throw a bone to the players that have been waiting so patiently for hard content since a month or two after release.
Sure we got FOTM in november. But that was 7 months ago. How long do you think people are going to grind the same FOTM maps OVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVER.
I mean have you ever even thought about how many fractal maps you have to complete to get to Lvl 48 just to get to the point where you can grind them for a reliable chance at the fractal weapon you want?
Yeah, shame on you for thinking that the living story content should always and forever be easy modes. Whats so wrong with ONE content update having some difficult content for a change? Especially one that has almost ZERO story content.
agreed with op. Great Job Anet. Keep up the great work
Characters- Levicus (Ele); Levicus Gear (Eng);
Levicus Shield (War)
As a ranger, I disagree.
As any other class, sure it’s ok. Other than how long those barrage sections last.

Thank you… but I just got infraction for people being clumsy… i will rather stop writing here anything. bye
Nice attempt to deflect responsibility, but I am betting that you were infracted for telling a large population of the game that they suck – in bold no less. Next time maybe you could get your point across without insulting thousands of people.
I’ve run it about a dozen times and only twice did I not have at least 2 ppl who hadn’t done it before. That makes things just a tad rough, but I’ve only had a team not finish once out of those. That was all 4 partners being new, and the 3 replacements for bailers all new also.
I had one run where a 77 was doing better than the 80s, sad to say, since I was still involved. That run was a tad painful.
It’s a fun dungeon and it is challenging. For the most part, the wipes teach you and then it gets better. A little communication works wonders, and stopping to explain the fights actually takes a lot less time than trying, wiping, and getting frustrated.

My little guild group never could make it through Frizz. Ok, we’re not all the hot platformer dodge-everything leetness. That’s fine. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m really not good at jumping puzzles and in fact, what’s messing with me in AR is in some cases, just making the jumps onto the crates under fire while a beam is bearing down on me. But it’s supposed to be hard and it is. Ok, maybe we can’t complete this one.
What hacks me off is that since I can’t get through Frizz and I similarly can’t do OS, I’m now done with this event. I can’t proceed with the story. I can’t get the meta-achievement and the mini.
That’s what really stinks here. Hard content being hard is fine. Some folks really like that. But hard content keeping a large group of your player base from seeing everything else in the Living Story? What a fabulous idea…
Look outside your own group of friends/guild for help with doing the dungeon. I’ve run the dungeon once or twice each day with random pugs I find on gw2lfg. I have never met or run with these people before and I have yet to not complete the dungeon. We may wipe a few times, but each time we do better and eventually finish in an hour or so. The one time I haven’t finished and spent 4 hours on it was helping guildmates to complete it. My advice is to run with a pug and see how to complete it. Go back and teach your friends/guild how to do it.
I can’t proceed with the story. I can’t get the meta-achievement and the mini.
You have a week. Don’t give up!

I loved the dungeon
I am a sperg who doesnt have the best coordination skills yet I managed it on the first attempt, so it isn’t that hard. It just takes basic coordination. Challenging, but not too frustrating as long as you have players who have the first idea what they are doing.
The JP is fun and challenging too.
Overall, apart from the slightly boring Aetherblade Assassin achievements, I have loved everything about this Living Story phase.
Trying it for the first time right now, we’re stuck on Frizz’s Lab. Worst experience in the game for me. No matter how flawless you can be, it’ll bug eventually. One yank into the wall is inst kill. No joy, just suffering.

Get a guardian, preferably more than 1 guardian. During the final phase, stay with the guardian(s) near the big wall that’s moving away from you and jump on crates as needed, no need to panick with guardians. Nothing will happen to you or anyone else in the team. Guardian(s) make it easy.
Dungeon is very fun, I’m gonna probably try to finish it with a no-guardian team before it’s over. The prospect of repeated wipes make it kinda exciting.

You can dodge the pulls by watching the golems for their charge up animation.
Just left there! We got to the end and have been wiping at the 25% cannon barrage. We’re pretty convinced circles aren’t accurate or our hit box is larger than our feet. It’s like your standing and all’s fine then, boom…. dead. Kinda lame
See, having to have “Special” professions only, is a non starter for me. Besides, we had me as the Warrior, a D/D Ele, 2 Rangers, and a Guardian. Instantly I know the response will be, “You’d have no problem if you replaced the Rangers” Then that’s spell #FAIL on the Dev’s part.
How people find this fun, idk. It’s not fun for us. Repeated wiping isn’t fun for us. I don’t play a game to be stressed, just so I’ll have an adrenaline response. That’s not healthy at all.
Yes! A lot of the current content is, to be honest, kind of easy and boring. You nailed it with this dungeon. Great work and great level design.
Give us more of this kind of content. :]
@DeWolfe: Definitely nothing wrong with rangers in this dungeon. Just did it with 2, healing spring and pet revives help a lot. And I have to disagree there; getting an adrenaline response means you’re buying into, at least a little bit, the situation you’re in. Same way an action movie can make your blood pump by suspending reality for you.

Have everyone spread out on the cannon barrages. Take an empty corner and one will have to wander around in the center. It makes the barrages very easy as you can easily walk around the few that come your way.
i came in here thinking it’s a thread praising the new dungeon, giving props to the dev teams, highlightnig a good group they had, being happy for the community and wanted to share my good experience with the dungeon as well.
guess i was wrong.

Cannon barrage… are you kidding? All I did was walk, see what new red circles appeared, and just moved left or right out of them. Those hits are telegraphed for like 2 seconds before the shot hits.
I went in with 4 guys. A Taiwanese, a Frenchman, 2 Americans and me, an Englishman. So we all have various ping times and response rates.
One guy went down at the walkways with the laser walls, he fell again at Frizz but we got him up and he finished the fight. We wiped at a trashmob and rolled them the second time once we got the hang of their confusion mechanic. Walked through Mai Trin with two guys killed at different times but they were both standing at the end.
I have wiped far more times on CoF P1. The dungeon was interesting, and fun. Unless you go in with 3+ <50 characters I don’t see how you could fail this.

Well not being able to get a group to even get a chance to try is an epic fail in my book, and lucky me I seem to log on at all the wrong times as when I look people are like good luck its to hard.
Our group of randoms cleared this first attempt, it was also my first attempt and I was able to see and understand and react to the mechanics fine. Kudos for the challenging content first dungeon Ive had fun learning in a long time. Challenging as awesome. I understand content is needed for people that aren’t as sharp or lesser skilled etc but please provide some top notch difficulty content with rewards to reflect such achievements too.
Someone else mentioned the idea of temporary, difficult and story driven. Pick 2.
Temporary and story driven is easy everyone can experience good stuff. Difficult and story driven its permanent content eventually if the lesser skilled people stick with it they will be able to experience said content unless they just dont improve or something. Temporary and difficult lacks any story driven elements look at fractals now that being said I want difficult dungeons other than fractals but fractals is an example of providing difficult content that lesser skilled players can’t complete but because theres no story driven elements they dont miss out except for skins…the way it should be imo
Trying to run the dungeon for the first time today. Don’t know anything about it but nobody seems to want to run it. Rather odd for the “best experience in the game.”
