Is the staff of Guild Wars 2 going to reimburse lost funds due to this glitch? Or Award it free to those who have now spent 4 days and many many hours trying to complete? Its a little ridiculous having to complete each section of the puzzle with 100% efficiency. Cause falling causes you to die, which means you need to re-attune again.

I would like a GM reply to this. It is VERY VERY frustrating trying to complete this last task to get the Meta-Achievement.

Thank you,
-Fay

What sort of funds would you have lost? Also, I thought the cache achievement is independent of the puzzle achievement.

I know it’s hard. It’s the last one I have left to complete. Can’t be harder than the mad king’s clock tower though.

Paper is fine. Nerf rock.

I have seen plenty of mesmers porting up to the end of Goemm’s, if there are none operating on your server try guesting to Tarnished Coast (if you NA based) as that is where I have seen several doing this.

Try pressing the movement keys while falling.

This JP has been bugged since day one. It’s known, yet ANet decided to put an achievement in it. This is a terrible decision.

Re-attuning isn’t the problem. The jumping puzzle is certainly not one of the super-easy ones, but when you fall, you do get ported back to the respective section by the golems.

In theory, at least.

Of course since it is buggy, sometimes you have to start over from scratch, and can’t teleport to the section you’ve been working on. And that really sucks.

I don’t mind this particular jumping puzzle too much myself, but I don’t understand why off all the available JPs, this one was picked for a living story achievement – when it’s been known to be broken for so long. There are a dozen other jumping puzzles available that work as designed.

Ô_ó

As for the Eternal Battleground one: you might be lucky and your server might kick total puppy this week in WvW and have an established presence with mesmers for you to use. OR NOT – in which case, good luck to you.

I applaud the decision to hide one of the caches in a WvW map as this encourages players to check out WvW (possibly for the first time), same as with map completion. Fair enough. But it should have been the jumping puzzle on the servers’ home maps, in order to give all players a fair chance at getting the cache – and make it less based on luck (i.e. on this week’s WvW winner/loser servers).

Fay,

If you are really struggling, there are mesmers porting this puzzle on a number of realms.:

I had no idea this puzzle was even bugged until I read here on the forums in the last few days. I have done this puzzle many times (and fallen many times) and never had an issue with attunement or bugginess.

Same. I do this JP whenever we get Jump Puzzler for the monthly, and I’ve never encountered any sort of issue. Go figure… :/

Oh and btw, you don’t have to re-attune if you die. It’s on a timer that’ll stick on you even if you fall from a platform. Also, there are mini golems that port you to check points located at the entrance of each section of the puzzle.

What sort of funds have you lost? The puzzle itself doesn’t cost anything, and deaths from falling don’t damage your armor so all you’d lose is a little bit of silver (1s 49c at level 80 if I remember correctly, it was a few days ago that I did it) if you fall before the start of the actual puzzle or get a glitch and have to use a waypoint.

I hit a few glitches doing this puzzle:

  • Once I fell and somehow respawned on the mountain below it instead of the platform (that was fun, running around unfinished terrain), it took me a while to find a way down without dying and then I had to start from the beginning but not a big issue.
  • I also fell and hit a root which killed me and I had to WP out instead of respawning, but considering the root is part of a platform I think that’s more an unfortunate accident than a bug.
  • I also had the one where I respawned outside the puzzle and again had to run back to the entrance. But luckily when I got there the golem still allowed me to teleport to the section I had been doing instead of starting from scratch.

But none of them were a big deal. If you’d hit the issue where the automatic anti-botting software flags you up for teleporting and bans you then I could understand it, but that seems to be relatively rare.

Also you don’t lose your attunement when you die. It’s on a 20 minute timer and will stay even if you leave the puzzle completely. (I’m not sure if it also stays if you leave the map, I didn’t test that. I know you can’t log out though.)

The second section (Stormy station?) is actually easier if you die after getting the attunement because on the first platform you can turn right, jump down to a large chunk of rock above one section of the puzzle, turn right again and drop down to the gate at the end. So you only need to get to the attunement and then you can skip most of the puzzle.

It depends. If you do this jumping puzzle for the first time (or are new to jumping puzzles altogether and/or unfamiliar with the effects of wind, storms and chill) you might fall a lot. If you fall a lot, then there is a higher chances of bugging out and having to start over from scratch.

When we did this JP for the first time a few months ago, that was a significant hurdle. I managed to get it within the hour, but my boyfriend stayed up half the night, having to start from scratch over and over again.

I believe the golems that port you back to the beginning of the windy/stormy/icy station are there for a good reason, and ending up (randomly!) unable to use them is disheartening and frustrating.

This time around we were a lot better as we’ve done jumping puzzles quite a lot since, and slipped up only a couple times each (I believe I bugged out and had to start over once, and him maybe twice) so yes, for us, it wasn’t a big deal this time around. But I remember that it can be a very different experience when you’re unfamiliar with the puzzle.

It can be frustrating if you use low level (have not get a stability skill) char or char which does not have stability. If you have a char with stability or a blink mechanic, this puzzle is freaking easy compared to mad king tower or wintersday JP.

Yes, you will be confused at first due to this JP works differently. But there is a lot of video out there which can help you (except you don’t want to get any help)

This was the first time I’d ever done this puzzle. I didn’t count how many times I died but it took me about 3 hours in total to finish it and as I said I did encounter several bugs or accidents that required me to waypoint out. But I still didn’t consider it a big deal.

Unless you’re hitting a bug every single time you die, which seems extremely unlikely, the drops from the chests should cover the cost of the waypoints (it’s only likely to be a few blues and greens, but as I said the waypoints are quite close so they’re not expensive). If you’re doing jumping puzzles to make a profit then you’re going to be disappointed no matter which one you do or how long it takes you and if you’re doing it for the achievement(s) then losing a bit of silver in the process shouldn’t be a big deal.
