killing pirates

oh look there maybe this spawn up ahead will have some pirates. wait that guy is pretty close there are pirates there oh he 1 shotted them all sad face.

4 Pirates spawn with a 50% probability form every holo-projector in the open world.
Areas such as Fields of Ruin or Mt. Maelstrom have a high density of them and aren’t
farmed at all on most servers. Camping the Aetherblade chests is dull and in general not a good idea as many people will do the same.
Actually, camping the caches is probably the easiest and fastest. It takes about 15 minutes per to get to 50 kills. Even if there are a ton of people there, you only need to hit each one once. It is way faster than running around maps forever taking a 50/50 chance that the holo’s will spawn the pirates.
Thanks for the tips!!

I would have prefered more interesting ways to complete achievements. It felt an awful lot like the old days of kill 10 rats to me, only more boring.
Guild Wars 2 should not have any achievements which are achieved with such monotony. It’s a better game than that.
Pro Tip: Hover your mouse over a hologram. If there’s no cog icon or the hologram is unselectable, Aetherblades will spawn.
Well that’s what I’ve tested so far.
Intel 520 120GB + 240GB / 2 x WD Caviar Black 1TB (RAID 0) / Corsair AX1200 / ASUS VG278H
Windows 8.1 Pro x64 / ASUS Xonar Essence STX / Sennheiser HD 650 / Logitech Z-5500
But it would make no sense to just walk up to the ones without a cog. If you did that, there soon wouldn’t be any holo-projectors with aetherblades anymore, since half of them would respawn with “normal” holograms.

This is grossly underestimated in my experience. I camped caches for shiverpeaks and maguuma and it certainly took longer than that. I had the maguuma cache all to myself.
That said, I still found this method preferable to running around to holos like I did for Ascalon kills.
I absolutely hated the pirate kill grind till I discovered the respawn at caches. Made things so much easier. I just stood idle watched TV and played Animal Crossing on my 3DS while I waited and pew pew’d them. XD Running around looking for Halograms that spawned them was just extremely lame.

Agreed. The one in Maguuma was actually quite fast for me, because they were spawning 3/4 at a time every 2 minutes or so. However, the others were 1, possibly 2, at a time with about 1-2 minutes in between. It averaged about an hour to get all 50. Otherwise, though, was a lot easier than the holograms and allowed me to catch up on some TV while I waited.
Yes, at the caches 3 respawn every 3 minutes, so it is one kill per minute if you get them all… it gets pretty boring. This is on instance where meta-gaming is a lot more rewarding than just playing the game; I don’t find this to be ideal.

only two in timberline, but yeah. if you camp a char at each of the caches it’s pretty fast. ignore kryta, as you can get that in the dungeon.
another possibility is to guest on low-pop servers. it’s a bit annoying though as it takes a few more clicks than just switching characters. works great if you’re only lacking one achievement (i.e. timberline, because of the fewer pirates).
takes ~30 minutes if the spawn isn’t already camped, not that much of a hassle, though still extremely unfun and boring.
