Canach's Mutation? Radical Change
The one of the next living story will take place on the Flying Tower.
Canach’s changed during the visiting of the Wizard’s Fief. Now is a evil being.
So what happend in that tower? Will we get the answer to this question?
We should.
New Living story in Kessex Hills, new pernamnet dungeon- Wizard’s Fief

I kind of feel bad for him now. All those hardships forced him to turn over a new leaf.
now I’m worried about the upcoming dungeon. I’m kind of siding with canach now… He’s not doing anything that bad for me to want to go after him and kill him, maybe bring him to justice but that’s it.
What happened to villains we learn to hate, not learn to feel compassionate about.
And if he cleaned out a molten facility then he’s not the smooth slick talking person the dredge was talking about while locked up under the black citadel.
I have a feeling the true villain hasn’t revealed themselves yet.

What I read from the story is that Blingg doesn’t just recognise the voice.
The intruder struck a match, revealing his cold, expressionless face. It was indeed Canach, and the sylvari mercenary was every bit as grim as Blingg remembered.
Blingg recognised the voice, then saw Canach and seeing him confirmed tha_t _it was Canach. If Canach was changed totally, Blingg should rather be confused.
I could accept that sylvari can change dramatically under extreme circumstances, though he should still have been made somewhat similar, but that story just has too many holes.
Edit: Please people, let us write the words “that” and “it” after each other, for goodness sake.

Canach cleared out a Molten Alliance Weapons Facility by himself?! Suddenly, this upcoming solo dungeon against him is a lot scarier to me…
Remember, he IS a secondborn.
Canach’s look has indeed undergone a major change since The Lost Shores, and I regret that there isn’t more background available regarding how it happened, but let me address the question here: his change in appearance is almost entirely due to the hardships he’s endured since he escaped Lionguard custody. He’s a fugitive from justice, he’s had Noll’s freelance decommission teams trying to kill him, and he’s utterly alone, so it’s been a tough couple of months for the sylvari fugitive.
Being on the run, fighting for his life, and killing the killers sent after him have weathered Canach; plus, he made a concerted effort to change his look (hairstyle, etc.) so as not to be recognized and arrested by the Lionguard. It’s quite a come down from the high position and status he enjoyed as a secondborn (even if that status was never as high as he thought it should be), and his new, grimmer look is meant to reflect the psychological toll he’s had to pay as well as the physical one.
As for the flaming gauntlets, remember that Canach is a seasoned combat veteran and an experienced guerilla fighter with a fairly twisted sense of what’s right. When he heard about the Molten Alliance refugees resettling on Southsun Cove, he saw a chance to help other Consortium victims and get even with Noll. But like a good soldier, he wanted to understand the situation in which he was about to involve himself, so he made a point of seeking out one of the Molten Alliance weapons facilities and clearing it. He obtained the gauntlets from that escapade and wears them now as a symbol of his newly adopted (and so far poorly executed) role as a champion of the weak…right before he set out for Southsun Cove to settle things with Noll.
Hope this helps,
My humble opinion:
There’s a lot of people interested in the story aspects of Gw2. The PvE players and Roleplayers pay close attention to that kind of things that pull the story together. So it intrigues me that you mentioned that “I regret that there isn’t more background available regarding how it happened”. It’s not like you have to pay for posting on Gw2’s Site, so I think I speak on behalf of everyone here: Don’t allow information to pass by. Post them. May it be a small story like the ones we are accostumed, or maybe a few more blocks of text. People who afe trully interested will read them. Pretty please :P.
This guy should replace Trahearne.
He can solo the molten alliance dungeon and earned the flaming gauntlets.
Trahearne only made solo unmotivational speeches and earned a legendary.
Justice needs to be done.
Althought I like the given explanation, I don´t like the way it is presented.
If somebedy would say, in game: “canach! what happened to you! you look like crap” or “you look so diferent” then that would be enough for me. Because that will show that anet know what is going on in their game and shows that they take care about what we know.
But to be honest, I don´t expect anything about it. They would say that he is the one who scape in karka event as much and we, as players, will say… ok, if you say so… i remember him completly different… maybe I´m wrong, it was a few months ago…
Cmon guys, you are presenting a history, in a slowly way (which I think is a good method). Think a little about these details, is not too hard, because if you don´t you break the attachement that we can feel with the story. I´m not asking to explain what Scott McGough explained before in game, we can imagine that or elavorate theories, i just want something that show us that you are not careless or something that show that you don´t think that we are careless.
Because that is whakitten feels from here, that you are careless or think that we are (or both).
Maybe I´m wrong and something it is said in the game about this, but… Im suspicious thakitten wont. The npcs will act as if canach was always like this new version.

Does this mean he’s met Rox and Braham? They seemed to be involved in the clearing of every one of those weapons facilities.
I really think there should be a character development for main characters like Canach in the game – perhaps in form of sequences (I’d love those AC-style-cutscenes).
Ascalon Catacombs hat this very detailed cutscene at the beginning to bring the story to everyone. I miss it.
Either Canach’s became a man and went Rambo or an agency of the Nightmare got to him.
I like how a few of you are complaining about the lack of IG development with Canach, is there something i missed? I’m pretty sure we HAVEN’T SEEN HIM AGAIN, so what is there to develop? Whose to say we wont find out a lot of this stuff IG?
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
Durzlla, I have seen him here, maybe you missed it:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/canachs-story-an-after-hours-meeting/
And anet says nothing about his changes in that. And again, I don´t want to have an explanation of that changes, I just want a proof that:
a) Anet knows that canach was different before
b) Anet knows that we know that canach was different before
From what I see in lore so far (with the exception of the answer in this topic, created by a fan, not by Anet) there is no proof. To me its like if they changed the charachter and expected from us to no notice it.
But, because we noticed it, they explained the reasons of the change as an answer in the forum…
Do you understand now my complaint? It is the way that they dealed with this specific lore. Again, please anet, be more careful with this. I doesn´t look good
I see your point, Silicato.
I hope that, when we finally get to meet Canach in game, Kiel says something like “What happened to you, Canach? You look horr… I mean, different” x)
That would be enough, IMO.

I really would like these sorts of things to go in game, I love having them for extra depth but it would go so very far to give more plot to the game…
Even if it was just voice acting, text and shifting barely animated slides… Moving comic style… Ingame cutscenes would require a little more effort what with the animations for npc’s… but you could quickly build up a collection to use for future cutscenes.
I just want more story of this level and preferably higher as the personal story just… yeah.
As for the female behind the alliance, both dredge and flame legion see females as lower than males
Where do we know this about the Dredge from?
There was a greater trend for female participation in the military in the USSR than in most of the western democracies. It’d be a bit odd if the Dredge were characterised as misogynists too much.

I guess it wouldn’t take that long to create a single new interface for books and copy & paste all the lore-related blog posts into the game. The world has such a big potential and depth, but few is seen in the actual game
take the purchases of the game and subtract the profiles active in the forums and you can imagine how many people are not reading the blogposts.

He cleared a Molten facility? At first you had my curiosity. But now you have my attention. (Grabs some popcorn) So when will that story get posted on the website? Oh let’s just cut to the chase and ask when will a book for him come out?

Scott, I do hope you intend to add this information into the game somehow. There’s so much lore that’s not presented in-game itself, so many behind-the-scenes explanations that would solve unanswered questions for players that bring confusion.
Please, can you find a means to put at least much more of these background aspects into the game? Not stuff that’s in your face, but still somehow determinable so that you wouldn’t have to come to the forums to explain these confusions and oddities that, with the explanation, makes a lot more (if not perfect) sense? And even just more filler background lore.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I absolutely agree with this. Even if its just one or two NPCs in the grove talking about why the Nightmare Court look different to the residents of the Grove it would be most entirely welcome.

A book about Canachs Story would be really cool! Seems he has a lot of story and if it’s written as good as the last text about him that would be a great book.

That’s unrelated to what I was talking about because quite frankly the Nightmare Court don’t look all that different to the residents of the Grove. But Canach had a full out makeover between two separate appearances, and it doesn’t seem like it’d be touched upon in-game given the need by the devs to make note of it here rather than pulling them “wait and see” option.

Canach or not, I think Scott should write the fourth Guild Wars novel.
And yes, I do think there should be a fourth Guild Wars novel.

I agree. Think he would do a great job.
But a short novel about what happened with Canach since he started his work at the Consortium till now would be great. Seems to me that it’s an very interesting story.
