“Be the last player standing while holding the crab in the Southsun Crab Toss.”

What I think is that you should be holding the crab when the match ends, however, I did not get this achievement when I was holding the crab when it ended.

Anyone know how to get this achievement?

Seems super buggy then. Have had two matches now where i was holding crab at the end of the game and i didn’t get the achievment

Yeah, same it’s buggy, the same way everybody is being declared champion at the end, I believe that’s a bug too.

it doesnt matter if you have the crab at the end, you get it via having the crab and everyone one else goes down

best way is for those 3 giant ones to roll the whole pack chasing you

This achievement is pretty much impossible to get in an match with intelligent players. I seriously hope it gets changed as it right now just relies on dumb luck.

This. And trying to coordinate with randoms is almost impossible, because not everyone will say anything or agree to it. It’s just plain dumb luck, it’s not an achievement.

I’m all for achievements and meta-achievement rewards. But when it relies on sheer dumb luck to get an ‘achievement’ it’s not right. It isn’t an Achievement, you haven’t earned anything; you got LUCKY.

Even making it so you hold the crab once the timer hits 0 is fairer (This is what I originally thought it was and got extremely disappointed when nothing popped), but not only having to keep the crab but also have the other 7ish players go down AT THE SAME TIME is just crazy.

Congratulations to the people who have it, good job; but this definitely seems extremely unfair; moreso when you remember that it’s TEMPORARY CONTENT.

We have limited time to get a luck based achievement. Sweet.

And the Crab Tossing is RIDICULOUSLY laggy at the moment.
Horrible achievement. Still, I shouldn’t have expected anything but lag from a Southsun event.

It does seem like the karka game could use some fixing up.

I held the crab at the end a couple times and haven’t gotten the achievement.

Are there suppose to be teams to this or is it all free-for-all? I ask because of the throw crab skill which passes it to … the competition?

Also, will this be part of the permanence to the Lost Shores after the month is through? The mini game now does not play very smooth, and there are sure a lot of points to earn in the title tracks.

Yeah the achievement is pretty poorly written.

I’ve got it but I’m not gonna pretend it was skill. I just so happened to use skill 3 when there were 3 Karka in the map rolling toward the group after me and they all got hit and I evaded it.

Edit: it’s free for all. The idea of the second crab skill is this:

You throw it to someone who is after you (only safe when one is) they get knocked down, as they get up, you use skill 1 and steal it back and run. It’s a kinda risk vs reward thing. If you’ve got good timing, you can knock them down, steal it back and run.

This achievement relies solely on luck. It’s a BAD requisite to put up, you
have to run around with a crab N moments hoping
- you don’t get squashed
- stolen
- other 7 or so players don’t stray too far so they die at the same time or individual deaths are self ressurecting in under 4 seconds.

Might aswell try to win the lottery while you are at it.

I just got this achievement done and I wasn’t even holding the crab at the end. I did hold the crabs at the end 4-5 games in a row before that but didn’t get the achievement done.

Yeah this achievement is dumb as hell. You’ve gotta be playing with complete morons for them all to get rolled at the same time (while you are holding the crab no less). At least there is no title associated with it.

I completed all the crab toss achievements with ease, including this one unknowingly lol
But if you are having trouble with it id recommend guesting to a lesser populated server… or one rated lower on the wvw chart

Also watch the boxes that drop there’s 1 conch shell that is nothing short of amazing! Grab it and the crab and you can fear everyone into the enemies and pretty much hold them off indefinitely…. or at lesat until you get the achieve lol

Ya its pretty dumb. Complete luck and impossible with intelligent groups.

In general remove crap toss from main game, move it with the keg brawl out of sight and mind of the players with brains.

Btw yes it is dumb luck and not even working, got it by just catching the crab when the thrower got knocked down by the karka, but like 3 other people were still on their feet and running to punch me in the face or throw anchors at me.

If I recall, the minigame pulls people from all servers, not just your own. Most of the people I’ve played with have guild tags I’ve never seen on my server.

Done this twice now and it didn’t pop. Not only is it completely impossible, but they won’t give you credit for it when you DO IT.

I agree on the lag-problem, I won a game by having the grab – run into a huge lag-phase which lasted half a minute or so – and afterwards I had quite a lot points…
perhaps a local queue would be better for the experience

I don’t agree on the luck-factor, you’ll get this achievement when playing risky enough. You can evade the Karka by dodging and skill 3 running through them. I experienced a bunch of chicken behind me not only once.

I have the achievement. 100% luck… but I got it. I had the crab, saw incoming karka, sprinted to the side last second and everyone else was steam rolled… three times…

Just got this, best way to get it is to lure every one to you, then charge right at the karkas.
wiped all of them out in 1 swoop last game. Not hard just have to wait for the karkas to get in a group.

You can’t really “lure” people effectively. Every player acts different. Some can straight out grief you by standing to the side.

I guess that’s how I got it. I had a Habit of waiting for a Karka to roll towards me when I had the crab and Dashing through it so it hits everyone behind me. :x Was best way to get them away from me. XD

I did it with out trying/knowing how to do it. All I did was grab the crab and lured every one to the rolling karka that I hid behind.

Got it and I stand by my previous assessment. It’s completely luck based and doesn’t depend on your own skill as much as your opponents’ skill to conveniently line up for the karka roll. You can try to lure but good players will simply evade the roll.

And what makes this really difficult is that some players just stand in a corner for most of the match waiting for the chest. Good luck to all those trying to get it. I guess the only real advice is to bear with it and hope to get lucky. At least the mini game is kind of entertaining to play.

Just got it as well. Like Fungalfoot, I stand by my previous statement. Completely luck based and it should not be this way. Also lucky that the match I fell into had some people trying to purposely stay together.

I got an awesome group that agreed to help everyone there get it. Which was pretty cool! Sadly only 3 got it before some CoD type tween came in and started talking about about it’s a competitive environment type crap.

Paid tournaments are competitive, elo rated matches are competitive, cash prize tournaments where you get sponsors are competitive. A CRAB GAME that is LIMITED in a random MMORPG isn’t competitive. That is like going to a little league and telling your child it’s a no holds cage deathmatch to win.

This is here for -fun- not your e-garbage.

I have tried it several more times and no matter how many times I have gotten the crab last, I can’t seem to get the achievement. x___x;; Otherwise I wouldn’t mind so much. -sigh- I think I may just leave this one be.

It’s a fun mini game though, so I will give my kudos to that. ^^;

Very much agreed with many of the people in the thread. It’s dumb luck – you aren’t achieving anything at all by getting it. Perhaps if it were modified or just removed completely..?

EDIT: If anyone is willing to coordinate going to a lower populated server in hopes of doing this, I’d be more than happy to do that.

I have to say this is my LEAST favorite mini game ever between GW1 and GW2.

I just got it. Everyone but you have to be steamrolled by the karka. It’s basically luck.

Entire crap throw needs to be taken out with all the achivements with it then burned with reanimator/all other trait line destroying minior traits, the quaggans and people crying for zerker warriors/heavy armor users in easy dungeons to save maybe half a minute on a dungeon run that they aint gonna stay for to repeat so many times that it might be noticed.

I’m pretty upset with this achievement too. I’m just a average player who likes to collect achievements. But this just seems too difficult or too much luck involved to obtain it. I really hope there can be a change for it.

Hard = good; requiring dumb luck != good.

The problem with this achievement is that acquiring it has almost nothing to do with the player. Regardless of how good one is at dodging through a karka roll, it still requires all the other players in the instance to be stupid simultaneously.

Purely random achievement – it takes 1 afker on 1 player with more than 2 brain cells to prevent you from obtaining it, and convincing 8 RANDOM people to stop fighting and help each other gaining it is even less possible than obtaining it via lag spike (which is by the way the only way people I know got it).

If even players from top 10 achievement leaderboards say they only got it by luck rather than skill – then something is surely wrong.

This one is bugged, should have gotten it twice now. I also got the champion achievement in my first game without winning.

You get the achievement when you are holding the crab and everyone else in the game is knocked down on the ground by karka, it has nothing to do with holding the crab when the match ends. You’d never be able to tell if it was bugged, because it would require you to be watching everyone else in the game to make sure they are on the ground when you are holding the crab at any time.

I got it finally by ignoring trying to win and just focusing on getting the crab and then running directly into the veterans with the dash skill. It’s mostly luck, but it’s not bugged, just difficult.

Anyways, to everyone complaining, get the 100 grabs and 300 carries achievements done and if you still don’t have Crabtactular done, then that’s the time to complain, it’s too hard.

Guild mate just got it, wasn’t holding the crab he had the fishing pole. No one was knocked as far as he could tell as there where no vet karkas, definitely bugged.

I have all the other achievements expect this – and randoms don’t even bother answering you when you ask for their co-operation or someone is afk or something. I’d really rather have achievements for something I did, rather than hope that others fail at the game.

While I can see this as a chance for me to get the achievement, it’s probably not the point of it. I’d prefer if the achievement was achievable without resorting to such, err, workarounds.
