you don’t seem to get it. the problem with this achievement is, that
it doesn’t require you the achieve anything but others to fail at something.
it’s not a matter of “too hard” because you have to rely on the other
players to cooperate or just being bad.

I like how the achievements went from ‘get grouped with 4 people who are semi-intelligent’ in xmas to ‘get grouped with 7 people who are dumb as bricks’ this time.

I got the xmas achievement pre-nerf. At least in that one, you can make up for your group’s failings. No amount of skill will help you get this one if at least 1 person in your game has half a brain.

have to run around with a crab N moments hoping
- you don’t get squashed
- stolen
- other 7 or so players don’t stray too far so they die at the same time or individual deaths are self ressurecting in under 4 seconds.

Might aswell try to win the lottery while you are at it.

Mhmm exactly what i was thinking. it’s way closer to pure luck more than anything.
They should just change it to holding it at the end which is much more probable.

Anyways, to everyone complaining, get the 100 grabs and 300 carries achievements done and if you still don’t have Crabtactular done, then that’s the time to complain, it’s too hard.

Thats exacly why I am complaining I don’t have much of a problem winning or scoring enough grabs/caries for other achievements, I just don’t see a point in making an achievement – which is by definition something someone should be able to DO – that requires more luck than actual skill.

Dare I say that it’s ok to ‘miss’ a title? Heck, I already got champion, won 175 to 75. Strikeforce FTW.

I feel lucky. I have the achievement. Didn’t even know it existed til I got it by sheer dumb luck. I dodged, they didn’t. When there are 3 big karkas rolling around, it’s possible to be out of energy to dodge so that’s probably what happened.

Note: I was proud to have this achievement. Having read this thread now I don’t.

Hopefully this achievement is changed, because it’s pretty impossible to get it out of your own skill. It’s purely luck. Luck that there aren’t good players in the match AND that nobody is afking at the side waiting to get the chest. Hard achievements are fine, but achievements that base purely on your luck and on a timed content is too harsh. Being the last person to hold the crab at the end of the match would be more logical.

I can win just about every match I go in to, sometimes by as much as a 250 point lead, but the only way I will ever see this achievement is if the lag gods smile upon me and freeze everyone in a giant lump. It should be changed to be holding the crab when the match ends.

No, you don’t seem to understand. You didn’t kill them. You got lucky, they killed themselves. If there was even a single skilled player or afker on the side you wouldn’t get it. It wasn’t skill, it was luck.

This achievement could definitely have its requirements revised. I just got it and that was only because I managed to get into a game with only 2 other people. When I played with a full roster there was always that one guy who was afk/lagged behind everyone else/knew what dodge was.

They already did change the Toypokalypse achievement which as not that hard with a working team cause eveyone needed to work together.

Would be strange if they did NOT change thsi achievement which relies on noobness of others.

Might have been easy for some of the players that played a lot on the beginning and figured out how the minigame worked while others were a lot of noobs still there.

But as everyone learns how to play it will be rare to have more than half of the players downed.

Edit: Managed to get it with luck… fear item helped (conch or whatever it is called) also a lot of others were already at low health from fighting and the small exploding karkas and somehow running directly through 2 big ones(evading) and fearing helped to buy me time and get them dead.

but really… too much luck. I was one of the others I would have stayed alive and made it harder for the one carrying the crab.

I have completed all other achievements related to crab grab, I have like 42 karka shells on me from chests. Still no Crabtacular. As people get progressively better I don’t think it’s going to be possible to get it anymore…

Go to a less populated server during off peak times. There will be less people and you’ll have a better chance. Just this morning I played and there were only 6 people doing it including myself.

Couldn’t get it after a bunch of games, same as other people in the game so we all went mid and took turns with the crab while we got rolled over.

RNG God blessed me with “Crabtacular!” achievement. And then “dango daikazoku” started playing on my playlist. I can die in peace. Trying for 7h straight paid off.

This is a very frustrating achievement, can be easily sabotaged by one player and provokes griefing.

Also im fairly confident that people getting getter at Crab Toss and it prevents everyone from getting achievement

Number 3 skill evades all attacks, you look behind you and people are chasing in a large group (will happen at one point, happens quite often anyway) rush through the rolling kraka and chances are that they will drop dead, easier if more than 1 is rolling.
These things aren’t exactly that easy to dodge, especially with all the lag now and then…

I got my title by actually trying to do it, not by “oh look at that” chance.

What’s the best way to get a boost team for this achievement?

Edit: Nevermind, I was actually able to get it legit. I’m happy. Didn’t take me as long as I thought it would. I think I got lucky because the 3 karkas all rolled like at the same time.

Please do something about this. It’s extremely frustrating to almost have it a million times only to see that 1 single AFK guy, or noob that isn’t going after the crab, or other good player that knows when to dodge. I can’t get this achievement because of everyone else, not because of my own personal skill.

I got it today and i’m never going back there ever ever again!! Hope this means something to Anet and the way they design the mini games and achievements.

I actually got the achievement but I didn’t get a title, do I have to earn everything for the crab toss before I get it? I thought you got it with just the crabtacular achievement

Title comes with winning the game, i.e. being the top player. That one is a lot easier.

Just thought I would post my experience since its getting forwarded to the team.

Play a dozen or so crab toss matches tonight won 3 of them. In 1 of them I had the crab at the end of the game and everyone was steamrolled by Karka, I had no chieve. Im not really mad about it because I didn’t know this was an achievement to begin with until I came to these boards. Maybe change it to where you just have to be the last person holding the crab at the end of a match?

And no, I wasn’t playing with the mentally diasbled, they were dodging, running, knocking me down like mad (only won 1 match).

Ps.: I was highly disappointed when Wintesday Toypacolypse got nerfed. That one, I did on my second try – by communicating with my team and giving them tips.
At least MK’s Clock tower didn’t get nerfed.

I spent 2 hours last nite farming the arena to get this title. It takes a combination of luck and skill. What do I mean by that? Well, if you’re lucky, and everyone isn’t paying attention, they’ll get rolled over by the Veteran Karkas. But if you’re a skilled player, you run in a way to get players roughly in the same area as you and the Veterans, then you dash directly through them, making them stop and turn around. This is the time when the Veterans usually do their roll attack. Do note that it takes some skill to keep the crab long enough for you to ball the group near a Veteran.

My only complaint about this achievement is that I can’t display it.

“chances are that they will drop dead” Yeah you’re hoping people are stupid enough to clump around. When I see Vet Karkas have spawned I don’t zerg the carrier any more because gettting rolled = points for them. But that also means no Crabtacular for them.

Finally got this like 20min ago. Eh, it is highly luck based but there are things you can do to “tilt” the luck in your favor. Regardless it’s done and I can maybe enjoy 1 game a day for the daily while forgetting about it the rest of the time I’m in SSC.

Why? Doing so makes the achievment… completly pointless.

Xd was reading the forum about this achievement being hard to get so I went back to the game and found out I already had it… after only doing the thing three times XD.

Crabtoss is a joke. I’m actually stunned that an addition of such dismal quality made it into gw2. As for this achievement, it’s ridiculous. Most achievements in this require skill, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. This, as mentioned above, is dumb luck.

So to get crabtacular:

1. all players must ball up behind you

I agree with the above. It’s achievement that awards you for other’s players errors, not your own skill at the game. The title basically means, “Congratulations, you got lucky!” or “Congratulations, you baited some people into a stupid mistake!” Not really a badge I would wear with pride.

1. only if they have very different start points, often at least 2 are close together and cover nearly the same path
2. may be, but they often roll in the wrong direction, I suspect they roll to the place where you are when they start the roll
3. 1 simple rush skill will do the trick, also if the karkas roll at the same time then even 1 dodge can save you

Don’t want to doublequote:

1. Well that is up to you. When you have the crab, run between the karka, so they will roll in different dirctions.
2. Maybe I was just lucky, but the karkas always rolled towards me. Never experienced ‘fail rolls’.
3. It may take some tries to get it, but it works. I got the achie on my 4-5th game on my 2nd opprotunity (meaning: all 3 karkas up and I have the crab).

Since then, I played some more (not much, 2-3 games) and I could have gotten the achie once more.

I’m just trying to point out it’s not pure luck, there are legit tactics.

I just suggested a nerf or at least a fix for the achievement. Like I said I got the crab everyone got knocked down by karkas and no chieve. I have read on this thread and seen in game where people have gotten the achievement and did not even have the crab in hand. The achievement at hand doesn’t bother me, I would just like to know that when I achieve it, I actually get credit for it.

The real problem with this achievement is that it can easily be trolled or grieved should I say by another player. All they have to do is afk is a corner, and they’ll most likely never get hit by a karka. And i’ve seen plenty of trolling and grieving going on in this mini game already.

Thankfully i’m done and can avoid this part of the community now.

Let’s say the crab holder does try to tactically get everyone to get hit… Maybe it’s just me but, I always steer clear from the Karkas once the 3rd comes out. The crab holder has no choice but to run into a safe area where I happen to be and I go for the steal. This is why I believe you’d have to be playing with people blinded by the objective to get this achievement. I learned this tech because I saw it done to me as I was trying to get this achievement. I expect people to play smart and win at all costs. Intelligent players ARE out there! or at least I think they are. :P It’s really like the lotto and I hope I get it, but it’s no big deal. All I’m saying is there’s a bit more luck than skill. Namaste!

I got this achievement, the little thing even popped up saying I did, but when I checked my achievement list it wasn’t there!

Please change this achievement to last person holding it at the end of the match. It’d be way better. As it stands now, it’s almost impossible to do in a competitive match.

What I think is that you should be holding the crab when the match ends, however, I did not get this achievement when I was holding the crab when it ended.

I got the achievement… i didnt i got it until this post. Play the crab game dont focus on the achievement… its just gonna be harder if u focus on the achievement.

I got the achievement last night. A large majority of the people in the game dropped and there was only 4 other players. Ran right at a Karka rolled through it, and he took down the people chasing me. Good luck fellow Crabtacular hunters!

I got the achievement. What I did is when I grabbed the grab I always ran into the Karka, and dodgeroll or use the sprint skill through it, with other players following you and the karka rolling, sometimes everyone else will get steamrolled. Just a tactic for anyone having trouble trying to get this achievment! GL

please reduce the difficulty realy2 hard pure luck

So after 50-60 rounds of trying i still don’t have it.
Even did all the other annoying ones since if you are rather unlucky you need a lot of goes ^^.

My end balance is:
5-7 times 1 guy still standing cause he was afk at the other side of the arena.
15-20 times 1-2 guys deliberately doging .
I don’t remember all the encounters so there might be more or less than i said but i think it is about the same for everyone here.

Gave up on the Achievement since it is pure luck and my luck is the worst.
I normally wanna have every Achievement in every category and the are all possible.
Personally think this one is the worst out off all of them since if you really go for it like i did in all of my games and don’t get it and there are some people who might not even care about Achievement gaining it out of pure luck in the only game of Crab Toss they play.

If someone does have an Idea on how to solve my problem I am all ears ^^

The other problem getting this achievement now is guilds are grouping. They group around one with the crab and just stand there. And when anyone gets near they all kick you away. They repeat this until everyone has completed their achievements. So what happened here? I think it’s a completely useless group of achievements.
