A friend told me there’s rumours of new armour skins with this new living story content.
Any sources anyone? :o

I don’t have a link, but there was a thread where someone had datamined some gem store strings that seemed to indicate that some more skins would be put into the store (sounded like the Primeval Armor that is currently there) at some point. No mention of if it would be with the Southsun story, or if it is something for the future. Heck, it might even be a string for something that was planned, but won’t ever be released.

Your friend probably heard about the data-mining people did after the last patch. I don’t recommend reading the thread unless you don’t care about spoilers.

As Beta Sprite said, nothing’s for sure until ANet makes the items active in-game.

I think new armor would be pretty cool. Especially if they took the F&F route and added stat combinations unlike any permanent armor vendors. I can’t think of any new combinations, but I’m sure they could come up with something interesting.

I hope they drop freely and are not RNG or black lion crap, so sick of RNG this and that…

I saw some witch doctor type armor in the PvP locker awhile back. Probably see some of that.

Probably saving up any new skins/weapons/armors (that they don’t mind casual players also having) for real expansions.

Then when are we going to get new armor models? Its something I’ve been looking forward too :/

March to whoever designs armor and tell them to design armor that matches the already existing Southsun Shoulderpad skins that were introduced with The Lost Shores. They’re near armorpieces, but don’t really match many/any armor sets.

Similar to the Fused Gauntlets – they only really fit the SE armor (and maybe some fire-themed ones like CoF… if there are any others). But they’d be awesomer if they had full armor sets.

When is that going to be? We are realistically looking at atleast another year for a real expansion.

To be honest, if they do add more stat combinations I would like to see Precision as the major with Power and Vitality as minor. My P/P Thief needs more health.

Despite the occasional holiday shoulder skin, the breathing mask, and the gauntlets (are we counting back items too? I wanna lean towards “no” since they’re accessories & not technically armor); you’re absolutely right. Even more-so since all of those were limited-time items.

This is a crazy realization due to the fact the endgame of GW2 is getting your character to look good. No new full set of armor (even just 1 set) since then kinda gives a grim impression about the future.
I’m positive a bunch of the guys who designed the different sets of Gem Store town shirts could have put some effort into additional Gem Store armor (or something) instead, and I’m equally as positive they would outsell those silly shirts in an instant (if the armor looked good and not rushed).

It could be Dragon Festival gem store content. Technically that wouldn’t have anything to do with Southsun Cove unless they link it to the Dragon Festival somehow.

He’s on the team working on Southsun Cove. Whether that means he is working on a dungeon for the new content is not known yet.

this is just annoying to hear because with all the crap added, not a single armor skin was added in ~9 months………….

I’m disappointed, too. I would buy new armor skins in the gemstore, but no town clothes. If you can offer so much town clothes, why not armor skins, too? I don’t unterstand that.

Because they only need to make 1 lazy model and retexture it 3 times vs being creative and thinking up all new armor for 3 different armor classes.

I mean cash shop this, cash shop that with a dash of cash shop RNG thrown in for good measure…

I know Anet wants to make money, but jeez guys the content is on the incredibly thin side as it is, and all we have to look forward too is reaching into our wallets to get anything nice..

True— I did see his name listed for Team Spring Break, but when I think of Hrouda, I automagically think: Dungeon Man!

A dungeon full of Karka might be interesting, I suppose. I’m always up for a new dungeon.

A lot of you are misinterpreting this post. He doesn’t say there are no new armor models at all. He says there are none in the southsun shore story stuff. He says nothing about no new armor models in the gem store, which is what all signs have been pointing to. It just means if there is new armor we have to pay for it with gems and it won’t be a reward from playing the new content.

In all seriousness, though…Yeah my request still stands. the same sets since launch are the only armor skins available in that thing, I would of seriously bet on there being like 3 or 4 by now considering we’re approaching a year since launch…

I was disappointed there were no gem store armor skins added, considerign the little dataminers found some. When’s it commin? :<

The sclerite shell backpiece makes us look kind of like a mursaat, except we don’t get to float. As for that backpiece and the other skins in this story (except for the Fervid Censer)… uhh-gly.
