Omelette Achievememnt
I never noticed that before, but that does suck. Unsure why they would put a level requirement on something that is an achievement for a temporary event, when they scale everyone up to level 80.
Only thing I’d suggest is if they have a high level character (obviously 75+), is to do that achievement on them, since achievements are account wide.
Otherwise, I hope it gets changed. Seems rather restrictive, especially since they level scale you to 80 for this whole event.

You can get the tentacle backpack by doing other achievements, some of which will be available only next month so he doesn’t really need that achievement.
Didnt spot that requirement either, I was splitting the achievements between my Lvl 80 and my Lvl 42, was just lucky I chose to do it on the 80.
Maybe, since you have already acquired the omelette and they are unlikely to remove achievement gates, you can simply wait until you are Lvl80 and then use it? It will probably still work, just have to remember not to sell it.
Yes, i feel you OP. I went there with my warrior who is 41, and i couldn’t complete it with him, but i was lucky and had an 80 ranger, so i was able to do it. Hopefully A-net listens and changes it, they are usually good at listening to their players.
same problem for me. It doesn’t help that the Omlette is soulbound. Another “problem” when I did this event with 2 friends (and 2 random people in the area): the eggs respawned SO SLOWLY… it took us quite a while to complete the event. You can imagine I wasn’t too happy as I learned that I can’t consume the omlette :-/
It sounds like an oversight on their part rather than something intentional.
The level restriction definitely sucks – it isn’t something I noticed as I went with my level 80, but I do hope that it is an oversight and will be fixed before the end of the event so that others can get the achievement, too.
And yeah, the omelette event suffers bigtime from scaling – it is very difficult to complete with many people in the area, as there is only 3 nests (right? or is it 4?) and they take a while to respawn. In similar events in the rest of Tyria, there’s sometimes other animals running around that also drop the item (example: wurm eggs in wurm cave), but the two or so young karkas that spawn on the island don’t drop any. It’d still be hard but that would definitely also help.

Maybe he should consider lvling. He should easily be able to get to 80 before this living story is done. Other option consider trying another achievement.
People doing the omelette event:
There are 7-8 nests if you actually look. Doesn’t take long to find them.

Are they at the base of that pillar/island thingie? Because on top I found only three.

Yeh, best way to do it is run to the bit on top beside the camp, there are 3 there, then drop off the side there and do a loop of the base, you should find at least 4 more down there, then run back up via the pirate ship crashed into the base, by which time you should only have a very short wait until they respawn, I did it pretty much alone yesterday fairly quickly.

Thank you so much. That was very helpful =)

No Prob, its an annoying but easy way of getting to the 25 : ).
hmmm, how about buying omelette and eat it when you reach required lvl with that character?

I don’t know if we plan on changing the level of the omelette, but I do think that the achievement will stick around, so as soon as you do reach that level and munch on Owain’s omelette, you should be able to get it.
I can’t guarantee that Owain will always be selling omelettes in the future, but she does seem quite passionate about it, so I imagine they’ll be available for a while.
You could create a low level omelette with a much weaker effect that can be consumed and counts for the achievement.
You should also add an L80 version of the omelet for sale so that I would actually consider using it as a food buff in dungeons and WvW and so on!
If you make it available as a food tray recipe, I’ll glady plunk down the gold to make multiples for lower level folks to eat it.

Wait, you mean +70 precision and +200 CD for 30 seconds when you kill something isn’t good enough for a level 80? Max CD I’ve gotten is around 1400, and that +200 is amazing for dungeons on my ranger.

Since you don’t have to be level 75 to buy the omelet, I think this achievement is fair. Just have your brother buy one now and he can use it when he does reach level 75. If the one inventory slot it will consume becomes a problem, consider helping him get a bigger bag or another bank slot.

That item already exists. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Saffron_Stuffed_Mushroom

I agree with this. Make a low level omelette that counts for the achievement.
I doubt the omelette expires, so why not buy one and hold into it until you reach level 75? If you care that much I mean.
It’s a ridiculous solution though. It’s possible to save it, yes, but it’s just taking up inventory space until you reach 80. Just change the effects of it and take off level restrictions.

A little known secret is that level 75 (and I think even level 70 or possibly even 65) food has the same power level as level 80 food.

Thank you! My fiancee and I were trying to do all the southsun achievements until he realized he couldn’t eat the omelette. He then spent all his gold trying to speed craft to 75. Then he got frustrated trying to speed level in WVW (he hates pvp). Now we can go back to having fun in southsun again.
