Sclerite Weapons Tickets - Next to Impossible
Update – got 5 more crates over the last 2 days, with nothing but crap in them.
0/35 on the tickets from the crates, with countless hours of grinding.kittenRNG
Updating also, got my 1st crate last night after many hours of farming since release.
I’m sure everyone already knows what kind of junk was in my crate.
The whole living story thing imo is a great idea it makes the world feel like its turning but used as a market strategy for us to buy crates from the store is taking the fun away. People keep posting got theirs after 1-2 crates and like the rng system so the lucky people can be proud of having their rare skin. That’s what a legendary is for. Yes you may see a lot of them now but the people had to put time and work to get it and some rng. If the weapon skin only dropped from pve and was super rare we would not have this problem but since you can gamble away on crates and still get crap with real money that doesn’t make the skin something to be proud of it just makes us lose respect for the company that uses this strategy.
oh, a “lets talk about our age” debate, nice, keep going

Yeah, I… didn’t say that. lol
Deathdance probably misread your ’babelfish’’ comment.
Not that this discussion is going anywhere soon if you both keep this up.

Fair enough. I’ve said what I’ve needed to say. I’m out. Peace.
It’s a skin, you don’t need it.
If you want it, start farming/buying. If it’s not worth the trouble than don’t do it. It is not detrimental to your gameplay NOT to have the skin.
I fail to see how this is hurting the playerbase in any way what-so-ever. They’re not giving ascended gear, they’re not giving anything that makes you a better player or gives better stats… it’s just a skin, you don’t need it. You don’t magicly get more awesome because you have a scelerite weapon.
Perhaps not, but theres a portion of the MMO community that like to “progress” in MMOs, even if its something as simple as the newest skin.
The way this RNG seems to be working is like beating your head against a wall, and has really turned me off to this game. I love vertical progression in my MMOs, always have, but this is almost worse than any horizontal progression I done. At least there was a light at the end of the tunnel, this, I’ve given up even trying really.

Yes, I agree.
Personally I don’t even find the Sclerite weapons all that interesting. I mean they blinking eye is nice (in a creepy way), but the rest is a little meh.
If anything, they should have looked even more organic with wiggling tentacles to match the Sclerite back item!
However, from my perspective ArenaNet should seriously reconsider these constant RNG boxes. It would have been a better policy towards your customers to have these weapon skins for a fixed price in gems at the Store directly (just like you did with the Rox and Braham skins) instead of these RNG boxes where you try and tempt people to pay lots of money for a chance at a skin.

This.
And also, either institute a guranteed currency that builds up (box has either a skin, or X tokens per crate) and that you need Y of to get a guranteed skin. I’m not one of those people that want this cause its new, or rare. I love the squiggly tentacular, creepariffic style. Thats WHY I rolled my necro, cause those minions are so incredibly creepy. If it was classic Skeleton/zombie/ghost/etc I think I would be less interested in this toon.
If I dont manage to get at least one sclerite ticket, I’m not going to ragequit. I"ll be a little sad, but I’ll just keep hoping that something else comes along that fits the theme in my head that I’m working on
40 crates with no ticket or even mini. I got all my crates from farming only.
I really wanted to get a set of sclerite weapons and yes, I am a pretty hardcore player (900 hours played so far).
I’m pretty sure I’ll have to give up though. With it being limited in time AND how expensive these boxes are, there’s no way I can get enough gold to get a set of these weapons (IE 6 tickets). If there was the option to just buy the weapon tickets, great, I would.
I agree with others that have mentioned how weird it is for ANet to put a lot of effort into new weapons, yet make them next to impossible to acquire.
Over 140 crates – not a single ticket yet..
Have been farming multiple hours every day since day one. And i’m by no means the type of player who expects to get them in under 50 crates, but this is getting ridiculous :/
Ive opened maybe 20 total crates, and i have gotten 3 weapon tickets. I have fused weapons on my thief, so i have a shield/mace sitting in my bank for my warrior. Also using the SB (Sclerite), kinda unimpressed with the weapons. Rng is Rng i suppose..

Only have received 3 crates from farming. Not giving any more RNG box money after the F&F disappointment.

The paragraph I quoted was directed at exactly your mentality,
I’m not arguing we should all run around with the same pointy stick. You’re supposing the direction of a piece you didn’t write as it applies to me.
You should rely less on the words of others and use your own.
I get what your trying to say, but I donot agree with you. GW2 was marketed about aesthetics and not stats. Not everyone thinks like you. We’ll just agree to disagree.
You’re at the opposite extreme.
Can I get a quote on that from a dev or the manifesto, or anything official where they said “this game is all about aesthetics, lolgameplay”?
You push your opinion like it’s a matter of fact.
Whereas if we look at gear objectively, every single piece of gear is exactly like the other one in it’s respective tier. The look of the thing is irrelevant.
Such a system pushes gameplay, not aesthetics. This isn’t to say that there aren’t aesthetics in the game. This game, every detail about it is beautifully done.
The topic at hand is arguing about the odds of obtaining a particularly trite crugly (creepy+ugly) piece of gear.
The game is so much more then sclerite weapon tickets. That this is a game breaker for some is ridiculous.
Regardless, you’re free to moan about sclerite weapons being too hard to obtain and I have proposed a suggestion that get’s you said weapons, RNG free.
If you don’t like it, that’s alright. You don’t have to think like me. You really shouldn’t think like me, at least, not exactly.
You should share some of your suggestions!
Please don’t squeeze the Charmin. The irony is strong with this one…….wow.
Just an fyi to those of you with a vendetta against ANet about this…
The gem store and it’s products is NCSoft, not ANet. Stop being mad at the company that made the game…and better yet, don’t even be mad at NCSoft, because the cash that’s gone in to these crates (and other things) have given them enough to give the nod for a GW2 expansion.
If you don’t have a job and your mum is getting tired of you using her credit card, then just don’t go for these appearance-only items. You’ll live.
For the record I spent $40 of the cash that I earned from working on the game, because the game is worth it in my opinion. Not only that but knowing that my purchases haven’t gone to nothing and that it’s helped fund an expansion, I’m actually happy.
Protect him at all costs.
Also after reading over this thread and the amount of dumb kitten I’ve seen, allow me to please break this up with a neutral explanation
The game, stat wise, does not force you to go any further than CoF gear. Some people choose to get their exotics that way and are happy with it because they like the skins or are happy with it because their focus isn’t on the skins.
The game, skin wise, satisfies another community within the game. With that, there are many ways to alter the appearance of your quite easily attainable CoF gear. eg. I very rarely see OoW heavy armor or weapons in game, so if someone is about being unique and noticed rather than having something they actually like the look of, there are plenty of skins they can get.
However, this game isn’t either gameplay or aesthetics, it’s both. What GW2 ISNT about is stat grinding. With gamble skins like the SSC crates and F&F, 80% of the mad is from people who want the new skin right right right now so they have something that others dont so they look cool and like they mean something when they stand around in LA. They’ll say it’s game breaking for them, but when the next shiny toy comes along, they’ll be frothing at the mouth about that instead, and probably won’t even remember the last thing they wanted so badly it made them rage on the forums.
The RNG crates, while obviously irritating to a small minority, are staying. You might not get the SSC weapon ticket when someone else does, but next month you’ll get something that they don’t get. Stop complaining about not being able to have everything.
Protect him at all costs.

Ok let me try to explain why people are actually mad about this, or at least why I am mad about this.
One of the big things that draws me to any game is aesthetics. There are a whole bunch of weapon skins in the game that may well be super-rare but if the look of it doesn’t go with one of my characters I won’t bother with it. The sclerite skins would look fantastic on one of my characters, frankly I could care less if everybody else on the server is running around with identical skins … this is about me, not them. I was unbothered by the molten or SAB skins because the look didn’t go with any of my characters, it may well be that the next set of weapons will be irrelevant to me too. So when I find a set of skins that does work, I’m naturally going to be a little bit frustrated if there is no way at all that I can guarantee getting them. Want to charge me £10 a skin? Go right ahead. At least then I will have a choice to weigh up in my mind, as it is my assumption is that if I spend £10 on crates I will largely be flushing that money down the NCSoft toilet … which is probably using revenue from GW2 to finance the launch of Wildstar … with an 80% chance of getting some flowers and shells.
To be honest, even if I were certain that GW2’s revenue was ring-fenced, nd that all the money I put into the game would go to support GW2 … I still wouldn’t buy RNG crates.
Piken Square
Guys, guys.
All you have to do is spend a couple of hundred dollars and you’ll have a chance to get your skins… or at least improve your chances, right?
What happened to achieving our rewards in these games? All we’ve been able to work for on Southsun is a flower and some tentacles to go on your back, and if you think that is worth while content then you’re lying to yourselves.
Molten furnace was cool, but there was nothing there other than an RNG mini pet and yet another back item, not to mention they gave us the most compelling content of Flame and Frost in just the last 2 weeks!
This living story content just isn’t cutting it. All they’ve done is spread a weekends worth of content over 1-2 months.
Just my results:
8 hours of farming (Mostly for Blood/Scales). 330% MF
-11 Southsun crates (Ticket was in the 9th crate for me)
-1 Weapon ticket
-8 dyes
-98 Powerful Blood
-80 Armored Scales
I never actually wanted the weapon ticket. Was just in it for the materials.
Of all the low drop rate things that have come in content patches, I get this… Really wanted that MF jetpack. :<
For the toast!
I just want to throw out there that I haven’t seen a single person with one of the new weapons.
Been farming SS about 2-4 hours a day since it started, ive had a total of 14ish crates in that time (plus 3 I bought, not doing that ever again, heck should have stopped at one, i feel sorry those who actually have an uncontrolable compulsion to spend cash on gambling for a ticket in the TP).
All ive gotten so far is 2 consortium crafting tables and a ticky mask.
The drop rate on supply crates has gone down regardless of what they say, first few days every wooden chest I got had a supply crate in it (about 6-7 in total) and given the pointless stuff you get from them 99% of the time I was thinking heck give me the regular rares instead please at least I can get some funds or ectos from them. After those first few days it went down to about every 3rd wooden chest would contain one ,the rest would be the usual level 75+ rare… so ive sort of given up in getting a ticket, since i doubt id every see one given the once in a blue moon crate actually giving me something outside of pointless materials.
This is with 355% MF by the way…
Of personal interest I found my first exotic drop from a wooden chest since I started playing at early access… yes thats right, since the game lanched ive only had 1 exotic drop. This game has some seriously bad random number generation (yes thats how random works, but still, 9months(?) and only 1 exotic drop).
And no I to have not seen a single person with a sclerite weapon either on m server or in any overflows ive been in, although I did see someone get a ticket on the second day. I bet you that come the latter parts of this event (ie the dungeon run) they start to drop like flies or at least there will be a high chance of getting a ticket from something like the Karka Queen, again I feel sorry for the people who spent loads of real ingame cash on SSC’s before then.
That being said Im gonna keep farming, since it makes a change of pace from WvWing in the evening and at least I can save up ectos and materials for all my alts 80 gear while i fool myself into thinking that next crate will have a ticket.
At least it gives my rather useless engineer something to do to make me feel like the hours of leveling them was worth something :P , Why didnt they simply put the tickets as gemstore items, say 800gems? or like Brahams and Rox’s weapons 600, i actually bought those and i hardly see anyone using them outside of myself.

Same here I have been farming for the mats… I have got about 30 crates, I dont expect to get a ticket and i haven’t. Last night someone on the map got their first crate and it had a ticket, They were so excited and asked how much it was worth, because they didn’t like the skins …. Thats when i felt real sorry for them.
Seems to me like ANet have implemented some code whereby the people who want the skins can’t get them and the people who don’t want them get them almost straight away … that’s some hardcore programming skills right there.
Hint: Make the kitten things tradeable at least!

Yeah, the profit goes to NCsoft who then decide what to do with it. Because the profit from the gem store in GW2 was so good, they decided to use that money to fund an expansion for the game which I guess would in turn equal more profit?

In fact, if gem shop income is that good, then all that income will buy us is even more of the RNG boxes.

It’s profitable – but it’s irresponsible.
By allowing this kind of addictive spending and making things so rare you’re hurting your player base.
You do realize that lockboxes are pretty much all over the MMO landscape now, right? Seems to me that developers recognize them as a license to print money that – as far as they can tell – doesn’t hurt their player base.

dont misunderstand, here, we are talking about RANDOM boxes, not LOCKBOXES, as in othergames you can see, there isnt any kitten in lockboss, weapons liockboxes -> some random weapons. you could count Dye Packs and Mini Packs as lockboxes, no problem there, you get what you nearly wanted with RNG involved in the boxes, crates are just silly, something especial just for this event? no, not really, why? they get back Karka Event items as tiky Mask, and the rest of rare item skins as shark thooth swords and so. How are supposed to feel thouse who had this skins, as you can get them now reaaaaly easy? No point in random kitten, they could sell Sclerite Weapon Supply Crate, you could get a RNG WEAPONG (not ticket) in and i coundt “whim” as you are random trying, you get the loot, not saying you could trade them, but you still have to take your weapon out of every weapong type you can get, still random, still profit, and you could call that a LOCKBOX, not a RNG box.
And still is sad that people cant achieve some type of skins, i see them the same way as dungeong weapon skins, not as Legendaryes or Mystic Forje expensive skins, if you do something really especial and remarcable, being just temporal the way to get it, make it so one can see that was hard or epic to achieve, not saying you must be a hardcore gamer, just make people thinkg that the guy who weild it doesnt drop four leaf clovers out of his butt

Deathdance, please fix your spelling. I get a few mistakes are alright, but I had problems understanding your point because of it.
Don’t get me wrong though, I agree.
When these boxes came out, they listed off ALL the items that you could get…then they said “with a RARE chance to get a new weapon skin!” because they put this keyword there, I am fine with how hard these are to get. Do I like RNG boxes? Not really a fan of them, but I think its kinda fun. I am by no means going to pump a huge amount of money into them, but am I going to be upset that I didn’t get the jackpot? No.
People who play the lottery to get the jackpot shouldn’t be allowed to play, you are going to be disappointed. Winning =/= Jackpot, Winning is getting something back. Such as I got a Crate to drop for me, I opened it and got a Mini, by that, I “won” something.
Sorry, I don’t like the RNG, however I am not going to be in the group that says its evil, simply because it helps the game, and people who sink money into it are only going to come out sore. (This is coming from a Math/CmpSci Major)

The problem is, what you put in the RNG lottery, not the RNG it self
Whats in the RNG Lottery? Skins that arent sellable? Would making these sellable fix the problem? Nope, because then the prices would skyrocket and people would still complain. I think its best that they are locked down as Account Bound. Now maybe having the Mini Game have a RARE chance of giving these out (every 100-200 wins you get a ticket?) and I think people would be more accepting. I dunno, the Mini-event should be a bit better (have an explanation of whats going on) before good rewards are added.

Come on… I’ve been farming a lot to get one ticket and I get no real reward. Before this patch I usually enjoy events, nowadays I spend all my time grinding (at first, because I liked the skin. Now, because I want my ticket).
That’s not fair, you (anet) are promoting an antisocial gameplay with this (I try to find zones with zero or few farmers). This is a MMO, special rewards should be associated with group playing as event chains or dungeons. Or something like the backpack but harder.
But… what’s the point of sending us to farm zones in order to grind special crates that almost never drop anything useful?
P.S.: Sorry for my english, it isn’t my native language

22 Crates = 1 portable mystic forge, 1 portable crafting station and 2 focus skins.
Sigh, congratulations for those who got a weapon claim ticket.
Seems to me like ANet have implemented some code whereby the people who want the skins can’t get them and the people who don’t want them get them almost straight away … that’s some hardcore programming skills right there.
Hint: Make the kitten things tradeable at least!
I would love this as i got a ticket the first day and the weapons dont really match any of my characters. Any chance they will make them tradable?
Arena Net is a subsidiary of NCSoft. They are, effectively, the same company now. They were separate companies once but not so much now. So saying things like buying from the Gem Store goes to NCSoft and not Arena Net is moot – of course it goes to NCSoft.
How NCSoft then decides to spend that money is up to them. it would be like, for example, saying you bought Microsoft Office, then complained that Microsoft put some of that money into Windows development. The company can disperse their funds to any of their products as they see fit.

A guildie of mine got 3 tickets after farming for 30 minutes with me…
“Meh… I don’t even like this ugly weapons” he said to me. I wanted to torture his children.
I got a ticket on my first crate, actually didn’t like the skins that much so just replaced one of my normal longbows, I know I was incredible lucky with this but is kind of a payback from F&F where I really wanted a fused weapon but couldn’t get a ticket.
Now for farming, I farm ~1 hour of skelks in SS for the T6 mats, I get around 2-5 crates in that hour, besides that one ticket and the mats I have got 1 shoulder skin and 1 axe skin (same from consortium chests from when SS was introduced).
My goal now for the crates are the minis and the apothecary jewels that will be introduced tomorrow, minis for the gold, apothecary gear to test some builds.
0/54 southsun crates – countless hours.
Nope, you’re right – doesn’t hurt the player base
So you have no counter to my argument, just griping over playing the lottery and coming up short. Well alrighty then.
