A problem of the Living Story is that because of the faster progression of it since Southsun, people are thinking that it’s an event. It is not.
Dragon Bash will be an event. Halloween and Wintersday were events. The Living Story is no event. It’s to change the current world a bit. So that the story of the world changes and don’t stay the same.
So it’s not necessary to have new armour, skins, cool event-items. They are just a nice piece to get. And we have some of these like the back-pieces. They are nice and it’s great to have them.
But Living Story is no event. Dragon Bash will be an event and when we read the announcement it sounds like a great event with items, games and fun. Like Halloween or Wintersday. But you can’t compare Southsun to Halloween or Wintersday, cause they have nothing in common.
The Living Story changes the world which in other MMOs would be every time the same between events. So it’s great to not have all the same old story every day till one day we will get an Addon. But it seems that people can’t see it like this. And that’s a pity.

The dragon bash better be more interesting than the loving story. I know Kiel got a promotion and is in charge of security of the event. They better explain this ingame and not from a video blog.

I actually groaned when he said Kiel got a promotion. She is a very boring character. I’m far more interested in Braham, Canach, Kasmeer or even Rox (and I don’t like Rox). I normally like to see GW2 characters return, but Kiel is such a generic character (even her model looks like a place holder) I couldn’t wait for the story to move away from her. Seems like she is becoming a central character for Lion’s Arch plots, which probably means she will be in a lot of future stories… and she’s simply not interesting enough to carry them. The pandering the story did to her with her “resolution” to the contract problem on Southsun (and how the settlers spoke about it) reminded me of how much I disliked the black and white, simplified portrayal of the War in Kryta.

We already have the career focused Rox trying to prove herself to her superiors, I don’t see why we need another character looking for a promotion as a major development. Kasmeer is intertwined with the human nobility and all the politics involved in it, she’s not restricted to an organisation like the Lion Guard and she has some mystery to her. I’d far rather spend more time with her than Kiel (and not just because of their outfits).
