give it time, they proably realized how bad they goofed and are completely redesigning its animation.

My most unused one of the three.
The mining pick is still my favorite with the whole “lava” animation.

I wanna think that each tool will be arc themed. First fire from molten arc, then scerite (sp?) for sickle. So we may see the last one have an entirely different look.

I like the water flower animation of the sickle. I do wish it was a bit bigger however like 2x or 3x and since the motion was changed the animation needs some adjusting.
I like the new old Animation of a sickle. It’s no mining pick. But the water flow is hardly seen on small bushes and even less seen on the passiflora bushes. I think it needs to be x2-x3 bigger, too. And the animation starts when I run away to the next bush. Like this I never see this animation. It should start with the beginning of the harvesting. I hope ANet could consider this suggestions.
Animation should start right away and be bigger for sure. I got my sickle and right away used it on passofloria bushes… I was disappointed.
I thought I hadn’t seen the animation yet because I hadn’t seen enough people gathering plants, so maybe none of them had it? Nope, it’s just such a tiny animation on those bushes that I don’t even notice it if I’m not right at the plant, staring at it. (because watching plants grow is fun?)
Now that they’ve fixed the animation and the lock, I actually think this is a quality product. I saw on youtube that it was fixed and bought it. I’m really happy with the vines & water effect.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the animation… it’s just fairly small, especially on large plants, like passofloria bushes. The fact that you have to actually stand there and wait if you want to watch the animation AFTER picking your plant is kind of annoying too.
With the molten pick, you see the animation very easily and you see it while you are mining. That is pretty much what I expected with the sickle too.

I’d like to see a lightning bolt hit the tree when the log falls.
Animation should be something unique not a smaller version of the rangers healing circle. Also should start as soon as you gather not after. It will be fixed I’m sure.
I have to say I will miss all the metal plants.

The next big thing is the Dragon Bash thing. People have already found the axe I’m the code.

One more thing about the sickle, I’m actually very glad that it is more subtle than the molten pickaxe. Because with the amount of gathering I do, the pickaxe would get old pretty soon. I’m not enough of a lava fan to enjoy seeing that all the time. In comparison, the sickle feels understated, but I prefer it this way.
So whatever the future brings – whatever a jade logging axe (or lightning axe) effect may be like, I hope it is more on the toned down side like the sickle, and not “in your face” like the molten pickaxe. My cc

I’d like to see two things (though I am happy it is no longer swung like the pick).
1) Animation for water and growing vines increased. Right now it is barely seen, especially on bushes.
2) Reduce the handle size back to a one handed item. The sickle was increased in size from the original when it was swung like a pick because at first it was just floating. Now it is pick sized, but with the animation correction the handle needs shortened again.
Honestly, I’m really disappointed in Anet:
- Initially, the sickle is used like a pick (and with pick sound effects) — plus, the handle is too short so your toon is grabbing the air while hacking away at the plant.
- Then, after players expressed outrage, Anet simply lengthens the handle of the sickle …the message I got out of it was that they were hoping to placate their customers with as little effort as possible.
- Finally they revert the animation to the stock gathering animation, plus a miniaturized version of Healing Spring .. which is invisible when used on certain nodes, and doesn’t even pop up until the harvesting is done and your toon has left the area!
The whole episode gives the impression that Anet just doesn’t care: they just want to spend the minimum amount of effort they can to get your money now. Businesses who don’t care about having return customers… this is how they behave.
