Im happy to be upscaled but the best part of being on southsun is the amount of gathering you can do.
thats the part we miss on when upscaled….
Its a terrible feeling walking past an Ori or blooming passoflora node
not complaining but still disappointed that my upscaled alt cant have it….

Why can’t you? You mean they have a level limit on gathering there? kitten that’s what I was looking forward to.

Yeah, you cannot purchase the Ori gathering tools until level 60

I think it’s good how it is. You also can’t go to Orr to gather orichalcum there with low-level-chars.
Would be terrible for the ori-prices if anyone could make a new char, gather the ori in Southsun and then delete the character and make a new one to gather the ori again.
You see what would be the problem?

The passiflora require mithril level tools and I think there is a minimum level to use them.

Gem store tools can be used by a level 1….that’s to say, even the tools out of the BLC’s.

Orichalcum Ore nodes require Orichalcum Mining Picks, which require you to be level 60 to be able to use. (Blooming) Passiflora nodes require Mithril Harvesting Sickles or better, which require you to be level 45 to be able to use.

Therefore, anyone below level 45 can’t gather Passion Fruit or Passion Flower and anyone below level 60 can’t gather the Orichalcum Ore.

you dont get upscaled in orr… going there with a low level would be your choice.
you being upscaled for the event means Anet wants you there…. just my thoughts

Anet wants to give everyone the chance to not miss the event there cause they are new to the game. They don’t want anyone to get rich by farming orichalcum in masses.

if this works it solves my problem since i decent amount of those in inventory… finally something that came out of the BLC (except for the BLSK of any worth)

I don’t really think this is much of an issue. You’re able to farm everything except orichalcum and blooming passiflora at level 45. Everything you need for creating an ascended version of the Sclerite Karka Shell can be farmed at level 45 during this event. Your chances of getting passion flowers from regular passiflora aren’t the greatest but you can still harvest them. That’s pretty generous considering that you can’t even use the back item until you’re level 80.

It sucks if you aren’t level 80. I get that. But you’re able to go to an area you wouldn’t normally be able to survive in during this event and you can take part in almost everything it has to offer. That alone is pretty cool, IMO.

I already posted it but something that bugs me in this department:

I wanted to get the omlette for the achievement with my lv.35 thief. I did the event (collecting eggs, respawned VEERY slowly) and was able to buy a omlette which is soulbound and can only be consumed at a higher (lv80?) level. Kind of annoying.

the only day I gathered from a passiflora, this week I had run out of ori axes and ori picks. I figured I could get the pick and axe later so I harvested passiflora in the meantime. When I went and bought said pick and axe I found that I had been using my masters harvesting sickle instead of my ori one. Masters harvesting sickle is level 35… I had obtained one flower and several fruits using it. while my ori sickle lay forgotten in my bags.

I think you can harvest blooming passiflora with anything, as the bit you harvest isn’t a regular crafting material, and is equivalent to orbs/gems (which you receive even when using a below-tier tool.)

Got attacked by something? IIRC there’s a chance of that happening then. Though personally I’ve never known it to.

That would definitely not be worth the time it takes to do.
