Critical Impact [Crit]
(edited by Beorn Saxon.4762)
Hi, I’ve been helping the wiki document the map rotations for the invasions. I myself have only been able to achieve 11/13 map invasions.
From what we have documented, ONLY 12 MAPS HAVE BEEN IN THE ROTATION, included Mount Maelstrom which has only been used once.
Now, our record keeping is not accurate for the first day of the patch, so perhaps we missed one.
Has anyone completed 13/13 maps, what are we missing?
Here is a list of known maps:
Blazeridge Steppes
Bloodtide Coast
Dredgehaunt Cliffs
Fields of Ruin
Fireheart Rise
Frostgorge Sound
Gendarran Fields
Harathi Hinterlands
Iron Marches
Lornar’s Pass
Mount Maelstrom
Sparkfly Fen

Due to the overflow problem/annoyance I think I have 1/13 now :/
I’m missing Timberline Falls in that list.
You forgot Timberline Falls (yes i did the event there)
I can confirm Timberline Falls having come up at least once.
edit: Oops, ninjad
You are missing Timberline Falls which I believe was the 5th map after reset (Hirathi, Blaze, Fireheart. Frostgorge, then Timberline) and hasn’t appeared since.
Nonetheless the rotation needs to be fixed.
Thanks guys! I’ll adjust the wiki
is there any way to check in which maps you have already been?

Use your head :P
I thought the maps were supposed to be random every hour. Are they following the same pattern? I’m at 7/13 (sparkfly, frostgorge, hirathi, fireheart, blazeridge, timberline, and dredgehaunt). I could swear last night it was the same rotation (dredge→hirathi→fireheart) as it was Tuesday (at 9-11pm EST).
I’m on a EU server and I haven’t seen a pattern so far.
EDIT:
There’s a list on the wiki with the rotation, still no pattern :p

actually i asked a decent question. there should be a way to play guild wars 2 without pen and paper (in UI near achievement description there should be a list of maps completed). If you believe it shouldn’t be like this then you are “skritt-brained bookah” yourself!

I agree with ya. for stuff that requires a unique set of things to be completed, it should show which of those have been done. Dungeon paths, unique map events (like these Scarlet ones).

Is it too much to ask for you to remember by yourself, which maps you completed?
It’s not like it’s gonna be that big a number of events, you gotta have to keep track of… Or too big a number of regions, for that matter.
Plus, you can’t really aim for the event starting in certain regions anyway. It’s not like you can say: “Ugh, I need to participate in a defense in Frostgorge Sound.” and go there to do it. The event says “get to Frostgorge now or gtfo!” When the event launches, you should be able to remember, whether you had an event there already or not, and then decide whether you want to go there.
However, let’s talk about ease of implementation:
A nice idea would be the event icon being a different one, if you completed the particular event, which is happening at the moment, already.
That would be fairly easy to implement, need almost no new lines of code and help skritt-brains to figure out whether they had a defense event in the region, which is currently under siege already(you should really be able to remember at that point, tho). It’s not like any regions beside the one, which is currently besieged matter anyway, because you can’t change, which region gets attacked.
It’s not like we need to be spoon fed everything, do we?

This was a bad decision by ANET to make it only 13 maps with some bad random calculator. I have seen/heard of maelstrom being done 1 time (sure its more) but from start to 10pm, 7am to 10pm there have been NO Mount Malestroms.
For an achievement requiring 13 different events that spawn randomly which is 13 straight hours if you end up getting them all in a row. Having to stay up 24/7 is a bit much for any game.
Yup we are at about ~45 maps so far and Timberline and Maelstrom have both appeared only once.

But if you are not playing 24/7 – and you proceed with achievement in a week, you have your problems/things to remember about, and if you come home tired and just want to relax playing gw2 there should not be a requirement to remember every ****ing you done before do you? It’s 2013, not 1990 with text based games. UI should be most useful and helphul, its not hard to implement. And if you done like 10/13, and you have no idea which maps you missed – you have to repeat ROFL them all just to make sure they were not bugged, or you got dc last momemnt. I am just saying there is no reason to protect ANET, i’m loving this game, but small things like these matter aswell!
While I understand having a set pattern would make it easier to complete the achievement, it will also result it players camping a map and creating an overflow well before the event starts.
This is what Anet was trying to avoid and this is exactly why the map is not announced until the very second the attack starts.
Now what can be done instead is possibly post a schedule of the maps for the last 2 days, this way if players are missing certain zones, they can atleast jump in and complete these.
So don’t have a set pattern. Randomize it some, but ensure over a 24 hour period every map will spawn at least once. That still give 11 duplicates a day and people won’t camp zones.
(edited by Wayland.3528)
Timberline Falls you forgot as others have mentioned. Hmm if only the following would occur when i’m on:
Fields of Ruin
Lornar’s Pass
Mount Maelstrom

And who the hell plays 24 hours a day?
I for my part am working right now. I can make 1 to 2 invasion events per day.
Just leave it at random imho. A set pattern or any other system, no matter, what you do, there is no way, everyone can be happy.
easiest way is to change that achievement itself. Make it to participate in 13 invasions, would make so much more sense. Yeah maybe you wont see every map but ppl wont be so disapointed.

At least once a day is better than once every three days (or whatever the frequency of Timberline/Maelstom are).
I think the title needs to be changed, since all 13 maps have happened it is misleading people into thinking that it can’t be done.
As for the randomness, until more data is gathered I am under the belief that they have a system in place to make sure each map is done at least once a day.
As Murth.5637 pointed out above all 13 have been done within a 24 hour peroid.

Of course since they only count towards the achievement randomly you have no way of knowing how many zones you’ll actually need to complete before you get it…
