Guild Wars 2

I’m curious, being someone that has played GW2 since Betas, I created and deleted many characters. Recently – not even a week ago – I deleted the last of my “original” characters(A character created on the day of release)… now what?

Does the 1 year anniversary only apply to characters, or the account in general? I’d hate to have deleted a character that basically cost me this once-in-a-lifetime-gift. >.>’

If they do it the same way as in GW1, then your character has to be 1 year old. Considering you deleted them it’d not count.

However, I doubt they’re really going to give me 8x Queen Jenna 8x Experience scroll.
So that might indicate that it’s account bound.

Although they state this

‘’As characters created right at the launch of Guild Wars 2 hit their first birthdays, it’s time to introduce our first Birthday Gift! Characters that are one year old will receive a Mini Queen Jennah, a 24-hour Birthday Booster, and a Scroll of Experience.’’

Pretty sure they’re going to give the presents for characters that reach one year. the mini jennah will probably be account bound like the boost and the xp scrolls.

Hrm, that’s too bad then. :S Weird as everything else is account related, dailies, monthly, achievements… Oh well. x.x

I had the same problem in GW1. I started playing with Prophecies but when Factions came out, I liked the models of the Factions characters so much more, so I remade all my characters. I was always a year behind on birthday presents.

Also deleted, becouse I didn’t like the looks, and no makeover kit was than. Nice…

It’s a problem for people who have been playing the game since launch but haven’t been playing the same characers since launch. If they awarded the present to an account on the account’s birthday, everyone would be awarded equally based on how long they’ve played. Because they award character birthdays, plenty of people who have played since launch will miss out because they deleted their original characters.

It’s a problem for people who have been playing the game since launch but haven’t been playing the same characers since launch. This is how it was in GW1. Were you not aware that characters had individual birthdays from date of creation? I only have one character that will be one year old, but I’ve known this would be the case since headstart.

Would be nice if people who started playing from day 1 would be acknowledged regardless of character ages, but alas that isn’t how it is.

Oh yea, I’ve deleted tons of old characters. My first toons at pre-launch are long gone. A guardian, an ele, a thief….yea all have passed into the Mists. Maybe I can claim their b’day gifts in the Heart of the….nah.

In any case, I have 1 toon who will probably celebrate a b’day in Sept/Oct. My others are much newer, including my main.

I assumed that the birthday celebration thing was account-bound… Ô_ó
That would make more sense to me.

I didn’t start levelling alts until many months into GW2 (I kept rerolling them until fairly recently), so I won’t have that problem, but at some point down the line I will end up with … how many mini-Jennahs? :P

Never really bothered me. I got my gifts eventually so it wasn’t an issue.

If you deleted your original characters you’re not missing much. So you don’t get a Queen Jennah mini for a while longer. It would just go in your collections tab when you get it. To be joined by all the other Queen Jennahs you will eventually get.

You…started playing GW2 when it was 2 years old? Isn’t the Quuen’s Speech event the GW2 1 year anniversary event? Just assuming you mean GW1 then. :P

Besides, the presents are a gift from GW2 for those who were loyal towards it, right? I’ve been playing just as long, bought more gems than my budget would allow it, even.. xD I’d just typically expect that I get rewarded for my loyalty for playing the entire year also.

Just figured everything in GW2 is account-related… this would then be the first “character” specific event, the gift part.
