What the speech will be of+Reasons.
The Queen will reveal that she is pregnant…
…from Rytlock!
Jokes aside, it probably won’t be anything that will change the face of the world, or even just Kryta. It will happen within the Living Story, so that anyone in the game will be up on the same level of events like everyone else, concerning the bigger picture.
I know that the Living Story got plenty of one-time events, but those didn’t change anything important.
The state of the peace treaty with the Charr for example, it is kinda frozen in a moment where de-facto peace exists but the treaty hasn’t been signed yet. All of Tyria is kinda frozen in time so that everyone can experience the same state of events, and go through the personal storyline without feeling like they have to catch up.
Only a major expansion of the game will most likely change that, and there is none in the planning.
The Queen has gone mad, and declares war on all the other races in her speech. All non-human emissaries and important people will be killed by Watchknights, the Crown Pavilion being a trap. Human players have the choice to support the queen and defend Divinity’s Reach (together with lots of npcs) or fight with the pact to besiege DR and ultimately slay the tyrant in a one-time multi-stage event that includes wvw mechanics.
DR gets completley destroyed, resulting in the need to make Ebonhawke the new Capital, further deteriorating human-charr relations.

She gives a nice speech and then they make a movie about how she overcame her stutter.
I seriously doubt it will have anything to do with the charr.
Rytlock sent Rox in his place, so clearly he doesn’t think it’s that important. If it was the treaty with the charr, a high ranking official like Rytlock would go himself (it also wouldn’t take place in the human capital).
It won’t be the tengu because Colin said no new zones this year.
I doubt it would be a wedding announcement, they’ve done nothing to lay the groundwork for this and his appearance during the opening ceremony didn’t give any hints for this either.
Honestly, I have no idea what the speech will be about, and I think that’s a weakness in the writing. If it was truly important, you’d think they would have foreshadowed it somehow.
Regardless of what she says (or doesn’t get the chance to say) I suspect the Aetherblades and Scarlet the “Mysterious Figure” will be stealing the show again.
the Crown Pavilion being a trap.
I’m glad I’m not the only person who thinks that the crown pavilion looks like it was built specifically to be a trap. Its a big hole in the ground with one way out full of watchwork knights, and she chose to introduce the watch-knights and welcome the emissaries down there?
Seems really ‘red wedding’-ish.
I got this feeling the moment I first entered the place and she started talking.
Personally I hope she talks about EVERYTHING we’ve all been hoping she’ll talk about, as Anets way of dotting all the ’i’s and crossing all the ’t’s to effectively show their plans for the future of GW2 after a long first year of triumphs and mistakes.
(personally I think more triumphs than mistakes, but some people love to see the cup half empty)

I think she will say that since the aetherblade attack at the Queen’s Jubilee, the Seraph and Shining Blade have been investigating the incident. She can now reveal who the mysterious Scarlet person is behind it all, but of course just then Scarlet appears again and we find out about her nefarious plans to take over Tyria.
Now all the pieces of the puzzle begin to make sense: the dredge and flame legion disruptions, incidents at Southsun Cove, Canach and Kiel’s involvement in her plans (willing or unwilling), and the story behind the aetherblade pirates.
Of course, it will be time for a dungeon where we will have to defeat Scarlet and her army. On our side we’ll have watchknights, Rox and Braham to help us in the battle.

Sounds about right. I’ll add to it by suggesting that the Pirate Council won’t give their full support, however, the newly elected Kiel will push the council to see reason.

I just about inhaled my coffee. Thank you.
I’d be surprised if the Queen herself announces who Scarlet is. It sounds like something we’d investigate ourselves, but who knows.
I would definitely believe the announcement is about the Charr. Not only are we still due for a living story event happening in the Black Citadel, but there’ve been a lot of Charr/Human relation things going on lately, and most lately of course we have Logan forced to fight a Charr, and then Rytlock, in front of an entire crowd. It was weird, considering the peace talks.
I’m extremely doubtful that there’ll be a royal wedding with Logan. It’d make too much about the human personal story just weird, and anyway, I wouldn’t like it. Ahem.
I would not be surprised if next year will be dealing with Kralk, Palwa Joko, Ebonhawke, and the Crystal Desert. .
Do want.
It’s going to be huge, apparently, and it’s going to tie in the events of the living story to date if I recall. So, what would tie together the Aetherblades and the Dredge & Svanir alliance? If it was something “simple” as "Hey, the Tengu have opened up their city (and we can play Tengu) sure, that would be huge, but it wouldn’t tie anything together. So what’s going to do that? Is there a greater foe manipulating the enemies that’s going to step out of the shadows? There’s a Meta tied to this and it’s being kept as secret as possible (impressively), so perhaps this foe makes his/her move during the speech, something happens to Jenna (there’s a meta wrapped around this), and the stage is set for a larger foe for the future. It’s unlikely anything significant happens to Divinity’s Reach, the Jubilee is staying open for example. But that wouldn’t rule out an assault on an ally of D.R. on a city…
Ugh. They said it’s going to be huge. We need to think in those terms. Queen getting married… sure, that’s lovely, but hardly huge or a “tying together” type of thing. We do still have that mystery Sylvari that showed up as well at the opening ceremonies. Hmm… maybe, just maybe, the Nightmare Court has a role in this behind the scenes that has so far been unnoticed. They could have manipulated the Dredge and Svanir as well as the Aetherblades through nefarious means…
Six freakin’ days. Sigh…
Here is another reason that I think we may be doing something with the Charr and Ebonhawke. Have you looked at the weapons you get from watchwork sprockets? They’re not mechanical, which is weird for what they are bought with. They don’t look like anything in Kryta. They look Elonian. I’ve never seen such Elonian weapons in this game. We also have a few armor pieces in the PvP locker that have been in there since release which would be very Elonian. Like the Voodoo armor. If we don’t go into Elona/Crystal Desert first, I’d be surprised.
Love this thread, so many good ideas. Keep them coming <3

I’m glad i could provide some entertainment.
I agree that it will probably not be about the identity of Scarlet, but it will be something concerning the Living Story so far, and not something changing the world outside of the Living Story.
How big it will be remains to be seen, maybe not that much if we look at the impact the Karka queen, the big event of Last Stand at Southsun, really had. For the main plot or even sub-plots like the human-Charr peace, it had none.
Jennah will most likely announce something setting the course for future Living Story events. Maybe it’s about how Kryta will deal with LA, but the threat of Zhaitan is not “officialy” gone inside the Living Story, so LA is still needed as an ally, and Jennah can’t afford another conflict. And the council of LA would not voluntarily give up its independence.
I would like to see some development concerning the human-Charr relations, the things that come to my mind are the peace treaty and the ghosts. But i kinda doubt that Jennah’s speech will deal with either. At the moment i have no theory i prefer over all the others.
One thing it achieved already, people are talking about it and coming up with theories, so it will be kinda big, no matter how big or small the actual topic of her speech will be.
Like Ebonhawke gives a kitten about Queen Jennah. Some like the treaty, some don’t. But all Ascalonians hate that the Queens guards took over the barracks of Ebonhawke and put pressure on them.
Also, OP said Ebonhawke is rarely mentioned. Actually you just have to look Dragon bash, the human emissary was pointed out by Jennah and Wade Samuelsson, and is from Ebonhawke.
+ this takes place in Kryta, so Kryta and DR won’t have it’s emissary, but instead another human semi-kingdom. Ebonhawke is still a bit separated from Kryta, Jennah is the Queen of Kryta and only the regent of Ascalon.
Btw the treaty could have its own LS, I can imagine an agreement on a common assault to reclaim Drascir. This way we get a new territory, charrs will strike another blow at their cousins, the flame legion, and Ascalon will get its capital city back. Put an asura gate there, tune it to Ebonhawke, and a New Kingdom of Ascalon is starting to take shape.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
(edited by Gandarel.5091)
As far as VOLKON’s theory of Nightmare Court involvement, I would say one thing.
Namely, that (I think) Faolain is a Mesmer, herself. If I’m right, there’s a definite possibility of the Court being behind at least some of the Living Story’s villainy, past or present. After all, it’d be a simple enough matter for a skilled Mesmer to .. “impersonate” a member of the Flame Legion or Dredge, and get a chunk of the Flame and Frost bit rolling.
Another idea, and one I mentioned in a thread about Jennah being “Disturbing”:
She -IIRC- did contact Kralk’s mind. Mindfragged, much? She could be going mad/corrupt, and doing the wrong crap for reasons she believes to be “right.”

Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Advent, Faolain is dead.
True, but I wasn’t thinking of her personally. Who’s this new Sylvari that showed up at the opening ceremony? Possibly she’s also of the Court.

I’d be willing to bet on it. Considering that PC Sylvari are rather roped into the “cooperate and be heroic, to kick Dragon Behind” role. Which leaves the “why?”
My guess’d be:
- More destabilization will involve the Pale Tree’s Sylvari
- The pain and bloodshed there furthers the Court’s goal to add more “negative” experiences to the Dream
- Profit.

Faolain is on the run after her defeat in Twilight Arbor. She’s still alive.
The Queen will reveal that she is pregnant…
…from Rytlock!
It’s not like it would be Logan. She keeps his balls in a jar on a shelf in her study. Whenever she needs a laugh she looks at the jar. And Logan doesn’t seem to mind.
fans hate Joffrey. They hate her the way Star Wars
fans hate Jar Jar Binks.”-not a direct quote, but still true.
I think if it has anything to do with Jennah or her and logan, it would be most disappointing. From the preview page and the developers talking, it seems like they’re making this out to be a big event. I honestly feel it will be something technological related, human race related (repopulating Orr, finding a lost human settlement, cantha, etc), or charr + human related. There’s nothing else for the queen to talk about. Revealing the identify of Scarlet would be kind of pointless to hold an entire speech over. You can’t invalidate any of the storyline quest.
Also, the living story will have to change the already existing world. If anet continues to create and solve problems in the story arc while creating and removing land, nothing will be very interesting.
Also the WP theory talked about the alternate universe and alternate versions of ourselves. We have to look at characters in game that could have opposite versions. Versions that would be evil, so the current version in our universe would probably be good.
So at the reveal of scarlet it will either been the alternate Kiel or the alternate Jennah, most likely Kiel since she wont have a huge impact on the open world.

I watched the vid and WP makes some good points about how the “Mysterious Stranger” in the Personal Story is the player, so the one we have in the LS could very well be Jennah from that universe, who wants to kill our Queen. Maybe an alt of Ellen Kiel but not sure why an alt-Kiel would want to kill Jennah, unless it furthered the plot to take over this world. And I still wonder how this person is the personal nemesis of the Player/Us. Unless the “Mysterious Stranger” is Us/the Player in disguise…
