This would really bring innovation to the game. Depending on your profession, each weapon will have different skills – we already have it so why not extend it for all professions and all weapons

Now one “strange” combination

- warrior with a staff = martial pole-arm combat style
- thief with a staff = acrobatic combat style
- ranger with a staff = shooting spears (paragon style) combat
- engineer with a staff = ??

Can you think of something else?

Eventually, I think this would be nice. I’d also rather they not rush something like this so we don’t start complaining about how terrible this system would be.

Warrior with a focus = whack the oponent
Warrior with a scepter = whack the opponent
Warrior with a mace = whack the opponent
Warrior with a rock = whack the opponent

IC: Magic weapons are not crafted to withstand physical blows: that’s why they’re crafted by artificers rather than weaponsmiths. A staff or want would just… break.

OOC: I’d rather they took the time and introduced actual pole-arms and actual spears (they’re not interchangeable).

No thanks. I’d rather see professions using weapons that make sense for them. But I do think ranger should get to use Rifle….

Think about how silly a Thief would look trying to backstab an opponent and then vanish into stealth while wielding a 2 handed warhammer. Or a big hulking warrior on the front lines of an epic battle wielding a dagger. It makes no sense whatsoever although as mentioned above a few of the current exceptions do not make sense either such as Ranger/rifle ; Guardian/longbow.

Would love Elementalist with greatswords, hammer, sword, etc. We already have those enchanted weapon spells, so why not have a permanent weapon that acts similarly?

I love the Greatsword ultimate and would use it 95% of the time (5% is the staff for specific bosses) if it was a full 4 elements permanent weapon!

I think there are a lot of weapons that would be great on more professions. I think it’s unfair Warriors get to use the most… :S

As someone that plays all professions of all types of builds… I can honestly say there is only 1 class that NEEDS more weapons. And that is engineer. If they want to use shield or pistol offhand, you MUST use pistol mainhand, as there are no other mainhand weapons. So engi effectively gets to use 2 weapons, pistol and rifle, that’s it.

Someone will likely bring up weapon kits as a defense for this, but you also must realize that engi loses a utility slot when it wants to use a kit.

Warrior: Weapons are all solid pretty much. I’d like to see a polearm eventually.

Guardian: Plenty of amazing weapons.

Thief: Solid, amazingly diverse, doesn’t need more weapons and doesn’t deserve more.

Ranger: I think ranger deserves rifle, but does it need it? No.

Necro: An amazing set of weapons to use.

Mesmer: Plenty of great weapons, does not need more.

Elementalist: Can’t really comment on ele, I don’t play it much at all.

Would I like to see a greataxe for warrior and necro? Yup.

I saw someone mention hammer for engi, which would make sense.

Yes, I definitely think they should allow you to use more weapons on certain professions. For example, I can easily imagine an elementalist main-hand a sword or an engineer use a 2h hammer. That’d be fitting, imo, and less requiring. There are 30+ skins for each existing weapon, adding new ones would require either spending loads of time or narrow the choices down.
