Hello there Bonesaw. Like you, I didn’t like the race one of my characters had anymore. I doubted over it a little, since it was level 80, but finally decided to delete it.
I started over with a new race, the same class. If you want to change your race, do that. There’s no way you can ask for such a thing, it was a choice you made. If you aren’t happy with it, delete it.

I remember seeing a dev say this isn’t possible so it wont happen. But they could make serious money from this, take World of Warcraft as an example.

Imo it doesn’t matter if they could make money. It should not happen, you made a choice in the combination of race nd profession to build your character. We should not be able to completely change this character we created. Live with the choices or start over with new choices.
We already have so much freedom, eg several guilds to join, switch and learn crafts, make-over kids, reset traits etc,
There should be some permanent consequences to what we chose.

It’s not easy for them to do, because there are a lot of things in the game tied to race. Personal story, some encounters in the wild, the nature of some system emails you receive, the type of elites you have unlocked, and things we probably aren’t aware of.

@Bonesaw: of course, you can ask for this. I just think that it would already be in the game, unless it’s more difficult to implement than we imagine. I’m sure ANet would happily collect gem fees for this

About the “I have a life”: I have one too. I’m level 20 on the new character after like 2 weeks. It isn’t about being level 80 all at once. I perfectly enjoy myself leveling the new character, since it’s completely different from the one I had earlier.
Even if you don’t enjoy doing that, there is crafting to level up (approximately 7g per 10 levels).
And if you don’t want to do that either… well why are you still playing the game?!

This game is meant to be finished in a week so that you can be decked out in the most expensive gear and have legendary weapons. If you don’t like a choice, than you have time to fix it. The content isn’t going anywhere, it will be here after you re-level another character. and there are a lot of ways to level. as Sirendor said.

now some may take long than others, but there are so many ways to play this game, and i believe that it is still fun no matter what level i am. there are dungeons through out your leveling. its not like there is only content for lvl 80 characters.

but for argument sake. if you did change your race after your story was over, would you re do it? having to re-go through an initiation into the races just to keep your armor if you chose those? or do you want to have it already finished? do the the skill points you invested into your racial traits get converted to the other racial traits? or do you get a refund in trait points? is your cultural gear going to convert over? or will you loose out on that gold?

now i doubt this will happen and i am against it, but you need more details in your plea. maybe that will get some talk going.

so currently i have 2 lvl 80’s and 1 lvl 50. I am also a stay at home mom, with a husband that leaves a lot on military trainings/deployments thus making me almost a single stay at home mom. I have a 3 year old, and my days are not exactly filled with time to myself.
