Guild Wars 2

I’ve seen lots of capes in lots of games. Most of the time they look ok, this fill a gap on the back of my toon and some have even had my guild logo on (cue audience ‘oooohh’)

Ok so my idea is we should have capes in Guild Wars 2 but before you zip off to the next post stick with me.

Ok first of all I’m thinking we could for the first time in an MMO have a cape that looks so realistic it would billow in the wind, fly back when subject to force (explosions, spells etc) and drape over objects it comes into contact with. For those who have played Batman Arkkham games this is the kind of fluid look im talking about. That’s the reasonable suggestion, now I’m going to go way too far as always (but I think it would be awesome).

Your cape isn’t just a cape but also becomes a living part of your character. While all your other items of armour change over time your cape ‘grows’. So it gains length and complexity as you gain experience and achievements. You could even have some sort of story embrioderd into the fabric which tells your story.

What do you guys think?

I think my computer is having a seizure just thinking about that.

I’m seeing this word ‘kitten’ appearing everywhere on the GW2 forums, I’m assuming its a good thing?

Kitten is a replacement for a swear word.

Yeah for example if I type the F-word: kitten, or some derivative: kittening, kittened, kittener etc. then the language filter will detect it and replace it with kitten because : internet.

cape was a major feature in gw1, they removed from gw2 before launch for glitching problems

Guild Items, not back-item armors.

This game needs some kitten capes!! who cares about clipping issues, we already have those kind of problems with weapons and hands and nobody is crying about it, so i dont get all the Anet politic of not-doing-capes-because-of-the-clipping-issues, bullkitten.
I dont care if my cape has a bit of clipping -_ – i just want a freaking cape to look cool.

Do you know this for sure? This could mean they arrive some time in the future right?

Digging up this old thread as I’ve seen guild banners are coming out. I saw them on the Gamebreaker Guildcast for anyone who wants to have a look.

I think they look ok and I heard Gary say that maybe the reason we don’t have cloaks is because of the Char tails, do we think this could be true?

If so why not make a special cloak with a split half way down so at the point where the chars tail comes out the cape would just split either way. This would look even more awesome.

Come on AN give us cloaks!
