Or at least a rule stating don’t post in a topic if you don’t agree with it, then more infractions could occur and the trash repliers get weeded out.
Guild Founder
Another Idea would be to let the Topic poster decide if they want replies or not when posting said topic.

Only if every mount, trinity or class/race change suggestion gets filtered straight into the garbage.

Of course Dev’s and Moderators could post on said topics at will and so could the OP.

Well the topics could be sorted manually via a sort button that allows you to see the topics that have the most likes Jrunyon.

Ideas are rarely perfect without iteration. Criticism and discussion helps to reveal possible flaws and alternate points of view. Flat-out trashing someone’s idea or opinion in an antagonistic manner is pointless, though.

Im pretty sure Anet can decide what the flaws would be in suggestions themselves. They do have alot of experience in developing. I think they are quite capable of that much. They don’t need armchair developers telling them or the suggester that its a bad idea.

Mhm, I’ve read your topic about the ranger Radio, and criticized you indeed, along with others, but that critizism was founded on something. I don’t see why you can’t criticize the ideas of others, as long as you don’t say “Get lost, noob, you’re garbage” or something that could possibly insult them. I’m all for constructive criticism, but some ideas should be met by saying “No.”

It might just be me, but I consider that sort of selfish / anti-social. If someone has an idea that is good, why bar the community from it when a discussion could make the idea great? People who troll get infracted.
Edit: Armchair developers? You don’t even realize that you were the first person in this thread to be antagonistic, do you?

This would take out constructive criticism all together. And honestly, there are just some fairly bad ideas.
If you see inappropriate messages, feel free to report them for forum mod. Of course, you shouldn’t report a message just because someone disagrees with your suggestion.

For that, you could just post in the suggestions collection thread, actually. It’s the place devs intented to gather all the (ready)suggestions anyways.
People who can’t tend to call the opponent troll, scream something utterly incomprehensible
and finally result to personal insults.
If you think the criticism is out of the topic or abusive just report it. Just two clicks. I really don´t see why all that fuss about.
So, if you have a really trash idea, an idea that you think is the greatest ever, but subconsiouly know is probably not great, you can make so no one can respond. Then your trash idea disappears in the blink of an eye because so many new threads are posted so often that without the bump of responses who can keep up?
While in the current system if your amazing idea is extra special trash, and you’re still willing to defend it, your idea can stay on the first page for ages because of all the bumps of people responding with criticism.
I’m honestly no sure if that is endorsement or criticism, but I will say I don’t like this idea and think it should not happen.

That´s the type of answer that renew my faith in humanity.
My suggestion was made to avoid senseless arguments. And to avoid debates that go nowhere. There are alot of good ideas out there and im pretty positive Anet can tell the good ones from the bad ones with the +1 system. Try for once letting the +1s do the talking. Here’s another suggestion. If a topic gets so many +1s then it automatically gets opened for discussion if the poster turned off replies. lets say 50 +1’s.

Each +1 would bump the topic so no one gets left behind.

See, now think about it this way. If you had it your way, and had made the thread block responses you wouldn’t have gotten to this one, which is actually a really good idea. It was because of specific criticism to your original idea that brought this one forward.
I still don’t like your original idea, but I do like this one.

If someone has a good idea with a good base to support and real positive feedback, not just fanboys of one or other style, you can be sure that Anet knows.
Agreed, the new idea is something that could work.

Ok so we are at, The OP can turn replies on or off and each +1 up to 50 will bump the topic up. When the post reaches 50 +1s it gets opened for discussion. Before the 50 +1s gets reached however Developers and Moderators can post on the topics freely as well as the OP if any new ideas for the suggestion comes up, as the OP is probably discussing this with his/her guild.

I can support the final idea, in case this only happens when the author specifically wants to have his thread without replies. Also if there is a +1 button, then there should be a -1 button I think, in order to see the correct picture. If there is only a +1 button, there’s no way you can tell how many people didn’t like the idea. It’s like having youtube with only a -1 button. You’d see 50 people who didn’t like a video, and would think: that’s a lot of dislikes. But then there were 100,000 who did like it…
I would consider giving an idea a -1 as a form of unconstructive criticism. If an idea isn’t well recieved it won’t get enough +1s to keep it relevant, which is a big enough “penalty” in my opinion. Also, -1s could be trolled to keep good ideas below the threshold of discussion.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Maybe allow both to be seen then at the moment we have one button there →
+1
what if we make it like this: when you click + 1 or -1, you get to see the amount that chose for one and the amount that chose for the other.
+1 -1
200 93
That’s why there shouldn’t be any -1s due to the trolls.
Guild Founder
Well if it got to 50 +1s then you could post your opinions. No real need for -1s when if its not liked enough it will never see the light of day. If its a good enough idea it should get 50 +1s easy. If its not then it wont. Its at least worth discussing if the likes are behind it.
