To avoid typing out a whole slew of reasons and experiences in GW2 that make me feel the way i do, i’d just like to say that i feel the customization of the utility skills precludes that of the actual weapon skills, which is the meat of the class, lets be honest here. I think the game exerience would be a lot more palatable if people weren’t so easily homogenized by their class choice for weapons. The system begs for equal customization from weapon skills and more elite skills as well as meaningful heal skills to slot.

I know there are a lot of skills in GW2, but quality over quantity goes a long way and we definitely don’t have it yet. Your bar meant something in GW1, i’d like to see that concept come back to life here.

I propose slottable weapon skills to break the static mold of the current system. I don’t think it’d be hard to balance if you just designed them correctly from the get-go. Limiting the player is not the answer to a better and deeper gameplay experience!

More slottable heal and elite skills, meaningful utilities that aren’t outclassed easily, and definitely slottable options for weapons would make the player feel more in control of how they wanted to play. The curent system just DOES NOT FEEL RIGHT!

Bring back dual-class system .. allow the use of skills from BOTH classes to be slotted out ( so basically you get an either/or ) in each slot.

EX. Ranger/Warrior
Longbow Skill 1. Long Range Shot® or Dual Shot(W)
NOT 1. Long Range Shot® or (Any other not slot 1 skill)

Possibly opens up use of more items
Ex. Ranger/Thief could use pistols
Ex2.Ranger/Warrior could use hammer

Follows more along the lines of tradition Guild Wars

Allows for more options, while keeping the game in balance, you wont be seeing a Ranger/Warrior with the same traits as a Warrior, or running around in heavy armor.

When you explain the idea out like that, it does seem more feasible. I definitely think it’s something ArenaNet should look toward. I think it would also call for a removal or complete overhaul of the trait system, which is pretty bad in the first place mechanically. Too much complexity, not enough real depth and it fails as an engaging progression system in my eyes.
