Everyone should be able to use everyones armor! The armors are restrictive enough already.

I don’t agree. That takes away on of the reasons for wanting to be a norn or charr. I like making things exclusive to races.

You can take away our unique weapons, but you can’t take away our unique armor and unique freedom!

But really, no. My Norn warrior would look hilarious if he was covered in Sylvari related leaves. And not in a good way.

While I’d love to have some of the other races cultural armors on some of my characters… I have to disagree with making them available for all races.

To start with, a few of the Norn Cultural armors would be inappropriate on Asura and Charr, who’s Females both wear Male armor… The styling of the Charr and Asura armor’s don’t quite mesh with the other races really either…

However… I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing the cultural vendors selling cultural style armors tailored to the other races… Armors designed for the other races but with elements that display the culture of the race that created it… Like the Norn Armor sets from GW1 being used as Norn Cultural for Human… ect…

You already can, Twilight Arbor armor.

Thats not an excuse, everyone should beable to wear the culture of other races, if you say: That makes me have no reason to play X, then you would of never wanted to play X in the first place anyways.

Yes. I fully support this idea. Scaling would of course need to be done so that the armor fits (just like scaling is done on ALL armor in the game.)

The black market in LA should sell cultural armor of other races at increased cost (so a set of T3 not of your race would be around 150g instead of 120g for example).

Asura/Charr females wear male clothing so no problems exist here, they would simply only be offered the male skins.

No problem exists? I beg to differ… Norn Tier 2 Medium for Males is bare chested… Tier 1 Heavy is a bit inappropriate for a female as well.

I’ll tell you what is restrictive, a Charr trying to fit in to an Asurans cultural armor. My freaking toes will rip the head off it before I can bring it up to my knee. If you want a Charr in leaves get the TA armor, if you want Norn in Asuran, go for CoE. Cultural armor is fine where it is so leaf it! (pun-tended)

i like the idea of cultural armor available to other races…
well there is no cultural lore wise reason not to do so. unless sylvari armors are just sylvari’s bodies… but the twilight arbor show it differently.
btw the twilight arbor armor is very different (and uglier) from the sylvari one i would wear.

Sorry I don’t agree, either. I worked hard for my T3 cultural for my norn and I did that because I wanted to look very “Norn”. I don’t want to see anyone else wearing any other cultures gear tbh, but they could come up with another type of armor skin that is multi-cultural with the same type of work involved toward getting it in the future. But keep the current culturals strictly for their respective races.

No. I picked out race/class combos in some cases specifically for their cultural armor. I’d be really peeved if suddenly everyone could wear it.

The point of Cultural items is that they are exclusive. The appeal of exclusivity will always exist and you, sir, failed because you ignored it.

And actually, having gear that is exclusive to one’s race is a deeper uniqueness then having multiple outfits. The idea of having something that other people can’t have is what makes it so.
(People are okay with this because they have their own cultural gear. That’s what makes it work. )

I take it you’ve never played or seen a female Asura/Charr wear the barbarian armor have you? or pitfighter? They wear the male version …which is bare chested! The female charr just shows fur, the asura female had an extra peice of cloth around the midsection, that is it.

Any other problems? They already saw the issues from other bare chested male armors and just allowed an extra peice to exist for the asura while the charr has fur and isn’t a problem.

Perhaps nothing, “you are just arguing points you don’t even fully understand”, if you want cultural armor of another race then level up a character of that race, stop being lazy. Weapons keep the same looks and do not need to be coded specifically for each race to equip, if they did we would not have skins due to the work involved in creating 5 separate AC staves just for each race. Cultural armor needs to be created from scratch for each race, if it was going to be available it would have been done. Raise whatever response you like, you don’t understand why things should be unique. Try a new char, try a new class, you might enjoy it.

Perhaps nothing, “you are just arguing points you don’t even fully understand”, if you want cultural armor of another race then level up a character of that race, stop being lazy. Well, if they made them available to all, you don’t “have” to use it on your other toons if you don’t want to, but your forcing your play style on mine.

If you get offended over something that is not even part of the lore and just over someone else having some pixels they earned, then I suggest you find another hobby.

The Models are probably not done for all races, since each piece would be unique to each other race.

I’d die before I see my glorious Norn Cultural on a friggin’ Asura.

Actually I have. My Guardian wear’s pitfighter currently and she’s an Asura… and I still firmly believe they should have just edited the Female version of Pitfighter for use on Female Asura/Charr… and what extra piece of cloth? There is none…

Also Tier2 Norn Medium exposes much more than Regular Pitfighter… though arguably less than the Exotic Pitfighter.

Also what Barbarian armor? did you mean Gladiator and if so, again they should have just modified the Female version of the armor for use on Female Charr and Asura rather than giving them the Male version.

Imagine Germans wearing kimonos because they look good; it just doesn’t fit their culture/image. the germans would wear kimono if fashion dictate so…
in fact japanese wear western styled clothes for the exact same reason.
in a multicultural environment where different races unite each other against any form of evil, where you can relate to different cultures because even if you are a sylvari you can respect and appreciate norn culture there is no reason why a norn cultural tailor should say to an immigrant sylvari or whatever: “no you won’t be allowed to dress like us!”

and i would like to suggest cultural weapon/armor crafting should be implemented.
i mean, my human tailor should craft clothes different than norn tailor. that would add tradable skins and a ton of variety

GW1 had these race’s armors.

They don’t have to be the same.
Just…representing the style of the race.

No. OP may not think of a problem:

Culture armor are nice looking to that race just because designer don’t need to consider body size / features of other races. They can put more details to the culture armor so it looks perfectly suit to that race.

If you want an armor fit to all races, then designer need to consider more, they may need to take out some design elements because it just impossible to fit all races. So the culture may not look that nice as now.

You must not have ever worked with armor or mods before, each model on each race is different, so it would not effect that race at all, so each race needs to have unique models for each body-type, and this is probably why cultural armor isn’t available to all races. “yet.”

They would have to make 72 * 6 models for each race, per race and armor set, which is probably why the weapons are available, but the armor is not, such a thing would take awile, but could be on there list of things to do in the future.

This would also include extra textures, such as Shaders/The Models own Texture, and the Alpha texture, which is 72 * 6 * 6 * 6.

It is a lot of work, which is probably why they only made it available to one race per cultural set.

If you made a Charr and killed Zhaitan with it, you’ll be allowed to buy Charr cultural pieces. 3 Stage’d for 3 Tiers.
