Cultural armor to be worn by any profession.
You don’t like the Norn heavy armor cultural for T3? I think it’s one of the best looking sets in the game by a long shot…Part of the point of cultural’s is that they’re intended to be rare, and be very definitive of a each race and their respective archetype profession. I guess I wouldn’t be totally opposed to it but there’s all sorts of mechanical/systematic reasons as to why they never do this in mmo’s that make perfect sense in the end.
Okay now I don’t mean to sound condescending or like a troll, but this is an inherently stupid idea. Part of the reason for having different armour for different classes is to help players distinguish what/who they are fighting from a distance without having to click on their names and look at the symbol adjacent to their up bar.
This is something that will never be implemented for that reason, and also perhaps an entire cohort of others.

I like this idea too.
Personally I think Anet should change it so any class can wear any form of armor. They have the opportunity to balance it by having the various types effect endurance and the like in different ways.

So you look at peoples armor to know what or who they are fighting? That alone sounds weird. By people’s armor you don’t know their profession as more professions use the same type of armor besides player’s are clickable for a reason.

I like the Norn T3 Heavy armor as I own the full set. But I also want another for my other armor and it would be a cool addition to be able to use the medium or light armor version of the cultural armor.
I made my norn because I liked the way Eir looked for that matter.
I’m only talking about the cultural armor as it’s pretty expensive compared to the normal pieces and you still need the fine transmuting stones for it to work.

Stupid idea sorry to say….thiefs running around in heavy armor ? blegh,Aion 6.0
A front line warrior brutally killing people dressed in a dress, no thank you. There is a reason there is light medium and heavy armor and i’m sure anet intend to keep it that way
Personally I think it’s a great idea. Armor rating should be decided by class. When last I played SWTOR, they had social armor that was an empty shell, that armor didn’t decide it’s armor rating until you put it on.
I mean, currently I can’t tell what is what until I spot check name plates, skill animations, boons, signets equipped, virtues for guard. I think the way someone is dressed is the last way I find out what someone is.

There are inherent play styles related to armour. Medium armour indicates they will probably be dodging more, light indicates they will use buffs more to keep alive as well as maintain manoeuvrability, heavy armour indicates they will not give a crap that you are hitting them. Besides the armour type there are other cues to indicate what someone’s class is that go with it. Currently only Ranger can use two axes as a medium armour class – we don’t want warriors running around in medium armour with two axes – two completely different play styles that smart players could use to exploit. Guild Wars 2 multiplayer is designed to be quick paced and the different armour types facilitates that in PvP. It allows you to keep an eye on players due to their armour types. Clicking on every enemy to see what they are is just clumsy and more capable PvP players learn to tell from armour types.

TC if you want say for example heavy armor users to beable to wear light and medium……you might aswell just take out light and medium, and just make everybody heavy armor users, or all light armor users.
