Hey all, I think there should be the ability to deploy defenses in WvW sort of like siege equipment, but more defensive roll, that offer buffs to things like toughness and critical chance etc .. The items could be like sandbags to allow you to entrench a path or road, stake walls that don’t require a huge effort to bring down but would slow the advance of an enemy force.

Additionally siege ladders, sapper explosives? Would make WvW a lot more dynamic.

Edit: sapper explosives wouldn’t be to overpowered: they would deal damage to both allies and enemies when they exploded. So that way it would require players to retreat for a second before a wall exploded. It would also only deal limited dmg (10% of a wall) and there would only be 1 set of explosives allowed at one time, to prevent abuse. Enemies would be able to pick the explosives you’ve laid out aswell, and try to bring them away from the walls. Therefore it would require a good organization and timing.

If explosives were to be put in WvW, I would to see a keep upgrade called minefield that sets mines up in a area around the keep. (not fixed spawn). This would make siege of a keep alot more unpredictable as you don’t know where the mines are. Mines: mines should either be one hit kills to who ever stood on the mine and bleeding and confusion on people near by, aswell as dealing serious damage to siege equipment.

I love the idea of mine and sappers. Only thing to add about sappers is you have to make and carry them from a tower or keep not from supply

If you want to make a small camp, make your own camp.

Engineers, place Turrets.

Warriors place banners

Ranger/thieves place traps.

Guardian place wards.

Players set up siege weapon at strategic location.

Chef place a fire pit for aesthetics. Guild leader places banner for buffs.

5x Warrior, 5x Ranger, 4x Elementalist, 4x Engineer,
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant

Iv always been up for ladders. Would make defense very hard (especially with mesmer portals) although there could be a upgrade for spiked walls to counter them.. Would make defending new caps extremely important until the upgrade is installed.

In fact it would battle zerging a little further aswell, as once a zerg has capped an obj, you would need to split forces enough (not just scout with the flagging changes) to prevent any ladders from being deployed for ninja capping.

Aslong as you design a decent counter (with mechanics allowing tactical play) you could pretty much add anything into wvw as extra seige weapons. Tanks/heavy mobile weapons??? Mines. Explosives? Disarming (imagine the rush on each side). Siege towers? Well i suppose that would be just focused dps and ballistas/catas/megalazer?
